At the time of the runaway, even when the flag 2 is set, the microcomputer system cannot recognize it, accordingly, cannot reset the flag 2, so that the D flip-flop 3 resets the system according to the next overflow of the counter 1. Thereby, the runaway detecting counter can be used as the reference signal generating counter which can be used in an ordinary operation.
