Abstract

본 발명은 액정표시장치를 구비하는 휴대용컴퓨터에 관한 것이다.
종래의 휴대용컴퓨터는 상기 체결수단이 액정표시장치의 전면영역의 일부에 설치되었다. 그런데, 상기 체결수단은 액정표시장치의 전면의 일부에 설치됨으로 인해 액정표시장치의 전체면적에서 유효화면비율이 줄어드는 단점이 있다.
본 발명은 상기 체결수단을 액정표시장치의 측면에 설치함으로써 전면영역에 체결수단이 침범하지 않고도 고정부재를 사용하여 액정표시장치와 주변기기를 고정시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 그래서, 액정표시장치의 전체면적에서 유효화면비율이 종래보다 향상되고, 액정표시장치의 중량이 감소하는 효과가 있어 휴대용컴퓨터로서의 장점을 충분히 살릴 수 있도록 하였다.

Description

액정표시장치를 가지는 휴대용 컴퓨터
본 발명은 휴대용 컴퓨터(Portable Computer)에 관한 것으로서, 특히 휴대용 컴퓨터에 장착하는 액정표시장치의 표시영역을 넓히고, 두께를 얇게 하는 데에 그 목적이 있다.
일반적으로 휴대용컴퓨터 또는 박형모니터 등에 사용되는 액정표시장치(Liquid Crystal Display Device)는 도 1와 같이 나타낼 수 있다. 상기 도 1을 참조하면 상기 액정표시장치는 크게 액정패널(20 : Liquid Crystal Panel)과 배광장치(Back Light Unit)와 구동회로기판(30 : Driving circuit board)로 구성된다. 또한 이를 상세하게 살펴보면 배광장치는 형광램프(11)과 상기 형광램프(11)를 U자형으로 에워싸는 램프하우징(12)와, 상기 형광램프(11)로부터 입사되는 광을 수평입사받아 이를 수직 방사하는 도광판(13 : Light Guide) 및 반사판(14 : Reflector)과, 상기 도광판(13)위에 적층되는 보호쉬트(15)와, 상기 보호쉬트(15) 위에 적층되어 상기 도광판(13)으로부터 입사되는 광을 소정 각도로 집광하는 제 1 프리즘쉬트(16) 및 제 2 프리즘쉬트(17)를 통해 상기 액정패널(20)의 표시영역(19)에 적절한 시야각(viewing angle)으로 확산시키는 확산쉬트(18)과 상기 구성(element)들을 지지하기위한 고정틀(19)로 구성된다.
상술한 구성을 참조하여 액정표시장치의 일반적인 표시동작을 살펴보면 상기 형광램프(11)로부터 입사되는 광이 배광장치를 통해 액정패널(20)의 배면에 입사되며, 상기 구동회로기판(30)에 장착된 회로의 제어동작에 부응하여 상기 액정패널(20)의 표시영역(19)을 통해 입사된 광이 조정됨으로써 화상(Image), 문자등이 표시되는 것이다.
도 2는 종래의 액정표시장치의 최종결합구조를 보여주는 평면도이다. 또, 도 2는 휴대용컴퓨터에 장착하기위한 결합구조를 가지는 지지프레임(40)과 액정패널 및 배광장치의 결합상태도 보여주고 있다. 상기 지지프레임(40)은 금속 또는 프라스틱 등의 재질로 형성되고, 액정패널의 전면을 덮는 형태로 상기 액정패널(20)과 배광장치를 고정틀에 고정시키게 된다. 이때 구동회로기판(30)은 상기 액정패널(20)에 연결된 연성 재질의 필름에 의해 상기 배광장치의 배면에 돌려져 부착됨으로써 도 2에 도시되고 있지는 않다.
도 3은 종래 액정표시장치와 휴대용컴퓨터의 장착구성도로서, 종래 휴대용 컴퓨터는 도면에 도시된 바와 같이 휴대용컴퓨터의 뒷덮개(50 : Rear Case)에 액정표시 장치의 지지프레임(40)을 체결나사(43)와 체결구멍(41)을 통해 고정(Mount)시키고, 이후 표시영역(19)만큼의 빈공간을 가지는 앞덮개(도시되지않음)가 상기 뒷덮개(50)에 부착된다. 상기 액정표시장치는 체결구멍(41)을 통해 체결나사(43)를 사용하여 뒷덮개(50)에 법선방향으로 고정되었다. 이 후, 도면에는 도시되지 않았지만, 상기 앞덮개에 의해 액정표시장치의 각 부품 중 상기 표시영역만이 외부에 노출되고, 다른 부분은 가려진다.
일반적으로 휴대용컴퓨터의 크기는 그 휴대의 편리성을 위해 다소 제한적이므로, 휴대용컴퓨터와 같은 휴대용 표시장치(Portable Display)에서 유효표시영역의 비율과, 휴대용표시장치의 두께는 제품의 품질과 중요한 연관성을 가진다.
그러나, 상술한 종래 휴대용컴퓨터는 도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이 액정표시장치를 뒷덮개(50)에 법선방향으로 고정시키기위해 액정표시장치의 테두리에 체결구멍을 가지고 있다. 따라서 상기 액정표시장치의 테두리가 체결구멍을 생성하기 위한 나사틀(42) 부분만큼 커지게 되어 액저표시장치의 총면적에서 표시영역이 차지하는 비율이 낮은 문제점이 있었다.
또한 종래 휴대용컴퓨터 및 액정표시장치는 법선방향으로 액정표시장치를 뒷덮개(50)에 고정하므로, 체결나사의 길이와 체결나사의 고정을 위해 뒷덮개(50)에 위치하는 고정부재(51)의 길이로 인해 두께가 증가되었다.
그리고, 종래의 액정표시장치는 상기 체결구멍(41)의 지지를 위해 지지프레임(40)이 커지게 된다. 또, 상기 지지프레임(40)은 일반적으로 금속재료를 사용하므로 휴대용컴퓨터의 전체중량이 무거워지는 단점이 있어 휴대용 컴퓨터로서의 장점을 상쇄시킨다.
그러므로, 액정표시장치의 전체면적에서 표시영역의 비율을 증가시키고, 중량의 증가가 없는 액정표시장치 및 휴대용컴퓨터가 필요하게 된 것이다.

상술한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 본 발명은 휴대용 표시장치와 결합하기 위한 체결수단을 액정표시장치의 전면에 형성시키는 것이 아니라 단측면에 형성시킨 것이다. 즉, 일례로 직사각형의 액정표시장치의 네 변 중, 길이가 짧은 변에 해당하는 측면에 상기 체결수단이 형성된다. 상기 체결수단은 나사 또는 고리, 접착제 등을 사용하여 휴대용표시장치의 뒷덮개에 체결할 수 있다. 그리고, 상기 체결수단의 체결방향은 일례로 상기 액정표시장치의 단측면을 기준으로 법선방향이며 액정패널의 장측면에 평행한 방향이며, 액정표시장치의 표시영역에 대하여 수평방향이다. 또한 본 발명의 다른 실시예로서 단측면에 평행하며, 장축면에 법선방향으로 액정표시장치와 뒷덮개를 체결할 수도 있다.
[실시예]
이하 본 발명의 실시예를 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 상세히 설명한다. 또한 이하의 설명에서 휴대용표시장치의 일례로 휴대용컴퓨터를 사용하여 본 발명을 상세히 설명한다.
먼저 본 발명에 따른 휴대용컴퓨터 및 액정표시장치를 도 4를 참조로 하여 설명하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 플라스틱 재질의 제 1 고정틀(190) 위에 반사판(140)과 도광판(130) 및 보호쉬트(150)와 제 1 프리즘쉬트(160) 및 제 2 프리즘쉬트(170)과 확산쉬트(180) 및 액정패널(300)이 차례로 적층되어 설치된다. 이 때, 상기 제 1 고정틀(190)의 측면에는 고정부재(210)를 위한 복수개의 제 1 체결구멍(400)이 형성된다. 그리고, 상기 도광판의 한쪽 단면(端面)에는 형광램프(110)와 램프하우징(120)이 고정된다. 이대, 상기 램프하우징(120)은 상기 형광램프(110)를 U자형으로 에워싸도록 설치된다. 그리고, 상기 제 1 고정틀(190)과 액정패널(300) 및 램프하우징(120)을 고정시키기 위하여 상기 제 1 고정틀(190)의 측면을 에워싸도록 금속재질의 제 2 고정틀(200)을 끼운다. 이 때, 상기 제 2 고정틀(200)에도 제 2 체결구멍(410)을 형성시킨다. 그리고, 상기 제 2 체결구멍(410)은 상기 제 1 체결구멍(400)의 위치가 동일하도록 형성한다.
상기 도 4와 같이 제 1 고정틀(190)과 제 2 고정틀(200) 및 액정패널(300)과 배광장치가 조립된 액정표시장치(600)를 휴대용컴퓨터에 부착시키기 위해 도 5에 나타낸 것과 같이 뒷덮개(500)과 앞덮개(520)를 끼워 고정시킨다. 상기 뒷덮개와 앞덮개는 종래의 휴대용컴퓨터의 뒷덮개, 앞덮개와 달리 상기 액정표시장치(600)의 표시영역(610)이 최대한 노출되는 구조를 가지고 있다. 그리고, 상기 뒷덮개(500)의 측면에는 상기 제 2 체결구멍(410)에 대응되는 제 3 체결구멍(510)이 형성되어 있다. 그리고, 제 2 체결구멍 및 제 3 체결구멍을 관통하는 체결나사(210)와 같은 체결수단에 의해 상기 뒷덮개(500)와 액정표시장치(600)가 고정된다.
상기 제 2 체결구멍(410)과 제 3 체결구멍(510) 대신 양면 테이프와 같은 접착물질을 이용하여 제 2 고정틀과 뒷덮개를 고정시킬 수도 있다. 이것은 뒷덮개(500)의 측면에 나사머리가 생기지 않는다는 장점이 있다.
또는, 뒷덮개의 안쪽 측면에 고리와 같은 걸개를 형성시켜 상기 체결나사와 같은 별도의 고정부재를 사용하지 않고 직접 뒷덮개와 제 2 고정틀을 고정시킬 수도 있다.
본 발명의 액정표시장치를 휴대용컴퓨터에 장착한 예를 도 6에 나타내었다. 도 6의 휴대용컴퓨터가 상기 도 3에 나타낸 종래의 휴대용컴퓨터와 다른 점은 액정표시장치의 표시영역의 비율이다. 종래의 휴대용컴퓨터와 달리 본 발명을 장착한 휴대용컴퓨터는 상기 표시영역의 비율이 종래에 비해 훨씬 크다.
상술한 바와 같이 본 발명은 휴대용표시장치에 있어서, 휴대용표시장치의 면적에서 표시영역의 비율이 높다는 장점이 있다. 또한 체결수단이 액정표시장치와 뒷덮개의 안쪽 측면에 형성되어 있으므로, 나사틀로 인한 액정표시장치의 중량이 줄어들어 노트북컴퓨터와 같은 휴대용 컴퓨터로의 장점을 충분히 살릴 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 나사틀을 따로 조립할 필요가 없으므로, 제조원가가 절감되고 조립성 향상에 따른 가공비가 절감된다. 또, 본 발명은 나사와 같은 고정부재가 액정패널의 표시영역의 수평방향으로 체결되므로, 휴대용컴퓨터의 두께가 종래에 비해 얇아진다.

Claims (6)

  1. 소정의 표시영역을 구비하는 액정패널과;
    상기 액정패널의 배면에 부착된 배광장치와;
    상기 배광장치의 배면과 상기 액정패널의 측면을 지지하는 제 1 고정틀과;
    적어도 상기 액정패널의 테두리와 상기 제 1 고정틀의 측면에 접하여 상기 액정패널을 보호하는 제 2 고정틀을 구비하고;
    상기 제 1 고정틀과 상기 제 2 고정틀의 측면동일위치에 상기 제 2 고정틀을 외부프레임에 더 결합하기위한 결합부를 형성하는 것을 특징으로하는 액정표시장치.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 결합부가 나사홈인 것을 특징으로하는 액정표시장치.
  3. 휴대용 컴퓨터에 있어서:
    액정표시장치와;
    키입력장치를 구비하는 본체와;
    상기 본체상에 위치하여 상기 본체로부터 개폐되는 상부 덮개와;
    상기 액정표시장치가 상기 상부 덮개와 상기 본체사이에 위치하는 상기 상부 덮개의 배면에 장착되도록, 상기 액정표시장치의 측면과 상기 상부덮개의 측면을 상기 두측면의 법선방향으로 고정시키는 고정수단을 구비하는 것을 특징으로하는 휴대용 컴퓨터.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서, 상기 고정수단이 상기 상부덮개의 측면의 홈을 통하여 상기 액정표시장치의 측면에 체결되는 결합부가 암나사인 것을 특징으로하는 휴대용컴퓨터.
  5. 제 3 항에 있어서, 상기 고정수단이 상기 액정표시장치의 측면과 상기 상부덮개의 측면사이에서 각각 접합되는 양면접합수단임을 특징으로하는 휴대용컴퓨터.
  6. 휴대용 컴퓨터에 있어서:
    액정표시장치와;
    키입력장치를 구비하는 본체와;
    상기 본체상에 위치하여 상기 본체로부터 개폐되어 키입력장치를 노출시키는 상부 덮개와;
    상기 액저표시장치를 상기 상부덮개의 배면에 고정시키며 상기 액정표시장치의 측면과 상기 상부덮개의 측면을 관통하여 상기 액정표시장치의 표시영역아래까지 위치하는 고정수단을 구비하는 것을 특징으로하는 휴대용 컴퓨터.
