Abstract

La présente invention concerne des compositions, des méthodes et des kits à utiliser dans la purification d'eau de boisson contaminée afin de la rendre potable. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne des agents de masquage utilisés pour masquer l'odeur ou le goût indésirable associé(e) à la purification de l'eau de boisson contaminée. Selon un aspect de l'invention, une composition pour désinfecter l'eau comprend un agent désinfectant et un agent de masquage. L'agent désinfectant est tout composé qui désinfecte ou assainit l'eau. L'agent de masquage est tout composé qui peut masquer ou minimiser les caractéristiques indésirables de l'agent désinfectant, comme le goût ou l'odeur. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'agent désinfectant est à base d'halogène, et l'agent de masquage est un arôme dérivé d'agrume. D'autres types d'agents désinfectants et d'agents de masquage compatibles sont aussi utilisés. La composition peut en option comporter un substrat sur lequel est chargé l'agent de masquage. La composition peut aussi comporter d'autres composants, tels qu'un coagulant principal, un auxiliaire de coagulant, un floculant de pontage, un matériau polymère, un agent alcalin, un oxydant autocatalytique et leurs mélanges.
