Abstract
RARE-EARTHS CONTAINED IN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION CONTAINING AT LEAST TWO RARE-EARTHS ARE SEPARATED BY LIQUID-LIQUID EXTRACTION BETWEEN AN AQUEOUS PHASE CONTAINING NITRATES OF THE RARE-EARTHS TO BE SEPARATED AND AN ORGANIC PHASE CONTAINING AN EXTRACTION AGENT COMPRISING AN ORGANOPHOSPHORUS COMPOUND CORRESPONDING TO THE FORMULA (I); IN WHICH EACH OF R1, R2 AND R3 REPRESENTS A HYDROGEN ATOM OR A SUBSTITUTED OR UNSUBSTITUTED, LINEAR, BRANCHED OR CYCLIC, SATURATED OR UNSATURATED HYDROCARBON RADICAL; THE SUM OF THE NUMBER OF CARBON ATOMS IN RADICALS R1, R2 AND R3 IS AT LEAST 12, AND AT LEAST TWO OF THE RADICALS R1, R2 AND R3 ARE DIFFERENT. THE PROCESS IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR SEPARATING YTTRIUM FROM OTHER YTTRIC RARE-EARTHS. IT CAN ALSO BE APPLIED TO THE SEPARATION OF TWO SUB-GROUPS OF RARE-EARTHS.
