Abstract
A steel sheet for cans having high strength and high formability and a method for manufacturing the steel sheet are provided. The chemical composition of the steel sheet contains C: 0.001% or more and 0.080% or less, Si: 0.003% or more and 0.100% or less, Mn: 0.10% or more and 0.80% or less, P: 0.001% or more and 0.100% or less, S: 0.001% or more and 0.020% or less, Al: 0.005% or more and 0.100% or less, N: 0.0050% or more and 0.0150% or less, B: 0.0002% or more and 0.0050% or less, and the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities. The steel sheet includes crystal grains having elongation ratios thereof of 5.0 or more in an amount of 0.01% to 1.00% in terms of the area ratio in a cross section in the rolling direction. The steel sheet for cans is manufactured by reheating the slab at a temperature of 1200°C or higher, by performing hot rolling, then coiling the hot rolled steel sheet at a temperature of lower than 650°C, by performing first cold rolling, subsequently by performing continuous annealing on the cold rolled steel sheet at a soaking temperature of 680°C to 760°C for a soaking time of 10 to 20 seconds, and by performing second cold rolling on the annealed steel sheet under the condition that the rolling reduction ratio is 20% or less.
