Abstract

GRINDSTONE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MAGNETIC-DISK GLASS SUBSTRATE, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MAGNETIC DISK The present invention provides a grindstone with which the edge surface of a glass substrate can be finished to a high quality and that enables stable-quality grinding processing. A grindstone according to the present invention is a grindstone for performing precision grinding on the edge surface of a disk-shaped glass substrate having a circular hole in a central portion, and the grindstone includes abrasive particles and a binder for binding the abrasive particles. A binder portion on a surface of the grindstone has a hardness in a range from 0.4 to 1.7 GPa, measured by nano-indentation testing using a Berkovich indenter under a condition that an indentation load of 250 mN is applied.
