Abstract

Arylfosfatnukleosidderivater med formel (I) viser kraftig aktivitet mot HIV uten uønskede nivåer av cytotoksisk aktivitet. Eksempler på arylfosfatnukleo- sidderivater inkluderer arylfosfatderivater av d4T med para-brom-substitusjon på arylgruppen. Spesielt er disse derivatene kraftige inhibitorer av HIV revers transkriptase. I et foretrukket aspekt i den foreliggende oppfinnelsen er fosfor på arylfosfatgruppen videre substituert med en aminosyrerest som kan være esterifisert eller substituert, slik som en metoksyalani- nylgruppe. I nevnte formel er Y oksygen eller svovel; R, er usubstituert aryl eller aryl substituert med en elektrontilbaketrekningsgruppe; R2 er et nukleosid med formel (II eller III).
