Abstract
Den foreliggende oppfinnelsen dreier seg om en fremgangsmåte og en celle for elektrolytisk produksjon av sink fra en saltsmelte som inneholder sinkklorid. Cellen har minst ett elektrolysekammer (2) som inneholder en elektrolytt og minst ett nabokammer (1) atskilt fra det nevnte elektrolysekammeret med minst én skillevegg (7, 8). Atmosfæren(e) i elektrolysekammeret/-kamrene er skilt fra atmosfæren(e) i nabokammeret/-kamrene med den minst ene skilleveggen. Elektrolytten ledes slik at den strømmer mellom elektrolysekammeret/-kamrene og nabokammeret/-kamrene gjennom minst én åpning i eller ved skilleveggen(e) nedenfor elektrolyttnivået. Det produserte sinkmetallet tas ut i bunnen av cellen. Elektrolyttstrømmen kan kontrolleres slik at den strømmer stort sett laminært.
