Abstract
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører en dimensjonabel oksygenutviklende anode for bruk i en elektrolysecelle for fremstilling av aluminium. Anoden omfatter en beholder fremstilt av en legering omfattende aluminium og minst ett metall mer edelt enn aluminium, et flytende bad i bunnen av beholderen som har en evne til å oppløse aluminium, hvilket flytende bad har en tetthet som er høyere enn tettheten for smeltet aluminium ved driftstemperaturen for cellen, et sjikt av smeltet aluminium som flyter på toppen av det flytende badet i bunnen av beholderen, et ildfast sjikt anordnet på de indre sideveggene i beholderen i det minste området for det smeltede sjiktet av aluminium hvilket ildfaste sjikt beskytter det smeltede aluminium fra kontakt med de indre veggene i beholderen.
