Elektro-optisk modulator (10) Innbefattende et par med optiske bølgelederkanaler (20, 22) dannet i et X-snltt litium nlobatsubstrat (12) og en overliggende RF-koplan bølgeleder (36). En periodisk elektrodestruktur (48) av intermitterende interaksjonstype anvender flere midtre stumper (52) for å opprettholde fasen til RF-driv- frekvensen l fase med det optiske signalet. Modulatoren (10) anvender også kortere stumper (64) og uttakslnnløp (42) og utløp (44) for å tilpasse og transformere impedansene.
