Abstract
La presente invencion se refiere a un metodo para procesar mena de laterita de niquel, que incluye los pasos de obtener una mena de laterita extraida de una operacion minera 42; y alimentar la mena a un clasificador a granel 44 que comprende una disposicion de sensor y un mecanismo de derivacion que separa la mena en un flujo beneficiado de mena de laterita de niquel 28 en donde la ley de niquel es mas alta que la ley de la mena alimentada al clasificador a granel para su procesamiento adicional 52 por lixiviacion o fundicion; una o mas fracciones de mena de ley baja 50 con una ley de niquel menor que el flujo beneficiado; y una fraccion de residuos 46. Esta configuracion separa de manera eficiente los parches de menor ley en la extraccion de mena de la mina, en una pila de almacenamiento de baja ley o residuos, y mezcla de manera eficiente la mena de alta ley seleccionada para cumplir con las especificaciones del procesamiento posterior.
