Abstract

<p>La presente invención se refiere a un método para procesar mena de laterita de níquel, que incluye los pasos de obtener una mena de laterita extraída de una operación minera 42; y alimentar la mena a un clasificador a granel 44 que comprende una disposición de sensor y un mecanismo de derivación que separa la mena en un flujo beneficiado de mena de laterita de níquel 28 en donde la ley de níquel es más alta que la ley de la mena alimentada al clasificador a granel para su procesamiento adicional 52 por lixiviación o fundición; una o más fracciones de mena de ley baja 50 con una ley de níquel menor que el flujo beneficiado; y una fracción de residuos 46. Esta configuración separa de manera eficiente las porciones de menor ley en la extracción de mena de la mina, en una pila de almacenamiento de baja ley o residuos, y mezcla de manera eficiente la mena de alta ley selecionada para cumplir con las especificaciones del procesamiento posterior.</p>
