The present utility model relates to preparation of a nutritious powder obtained from a plant material, specifically the Philippine Ashitaba (Gynura procumbens). The present utility model further relates to the use of said nutritious powder to be used as seasoning to food and improve its shelf-life. The steps in making the ashitaba powder are at least comprised of: collecting of fresh leaves of the ashitaba; washing thoroughly with chlorinated water and then distilled water; air-drying; cutting into smaller pieces; drying evenly of the leaves using a microwave oven; grinding to produce the powder; and sieving to refine the ashitaba powder.
