Abstract

The invention relates to a portable device for the exact cutting to size of edge strips that cover the end faces of furniture panels, working panels or similar, said device comprising a cutting blade (2) that is mounted so that it can be displaced transversally to a contact element. The aim of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages of prior art and provide an improved device for the cutting to size of edge strips, which enables the two edge strip ends to be joined together without an overlap or gap. To achieve this, a second retaining element (6), which guides the edge strip end (4) that is to be cut to size away from the furniture panel (5), is mounted on a first retaining element (3), which holds a fixed cutting blade (1) and guides the displaceably mounted cutting blade (2), and during the cutting operation the edge of the first retaining element (3) lies against the front end (8) of the edge strip.
