W zgłoszeniu stwierdzono, że występuje korelacja między genotypem genu HFE (rs 1799945), stężeniem żelaza w surowicy a ryzykiem raków u kobiet. Przedmiotem zgłoszenia jest sposób określania ryzyka raka. Sposób ten charakteryzuje się tym, że obejmuje ocenę konstytucyjnej zmiany w genie HFE His63Asp (rs1799945) oraz ocenę stężenia żelaza w próbce biologicznej badanej kobiety, przy czym kombinacja poszczególnych genotypów z określonym poziomem żelaza wskazuje na znacząco obniżone ryzyko rozwoju raków: - dla genotypu HFE CC przy stężeniu żelaza w surowicy 975-1125 µg/l (lub stężeniu w dowolnym materiale biologicznym odpowiadającym stężeniu w surowicy); - dla genotypu HFE nCC przy stężeniu żelaza w surowicy 1000-1400 µg/l (lub stężeniu w dowolnym materiale biologicznym odpowiadającym stężeniu w surowicy).The application found a correlation between the HFE gene genotype (rs 1799945), serum iron concentration and the risk of cancer in women.
