Abstract
The subject of the application is a method of oxidizing limonene with a 60% aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst and methanol as a solvent. This method is characterized in that the catalyst used is a porous carbon material in an amount of 4% by weight in the reaction mixture, obtained from dry orange pulp obtained after distilling limonene, to which water is added for the first wetting and mixed with silica in a mass ratio from 0.1 to 25. The material is then dried, carbonized, the silicon matrix is removed and rinsed with water. Oxidation of limonene is carried out at a temperature of 80-120 ° C for 6 hours at a molar ratio of limonene: oxidant = 1: 2, and methanol in the reaction mixture is used at a concentration of 70% by weight. In the process of obtaining the catalyst, carbonization is carried out at a temperature of 400 - 1000 ° C. Preferably, the activator in the form of KOH or NaOH is added to the orange pulp before the addition of silica, in a mass ratio to dry orange pulp from 0.2 to 2. The matrix is removed using 7% by mass hydrofluoric acid, then the material is washed with water until neutral. Oxidation of limonene is carried out under autogenic pressure in an autoclave equipped with a Teflon liner. The raw materials in the oxidation process are introduced in the following order: catalyst, methanol, limonene and finally the oxidant. During the oxidation, a mixing intensity of 500 rpm is used.
