Abstract

The subject of the application is a method of obtaining an extract of Cochlospermum angolensis (Borututu), which consists in macerating the powdered plant substance Borututu with chloroform, preferably twice, each time for 12-72 hours, preferably 48 hours, using preferably amounts first 1:20 and then 1:10, then the chloroform macerate or combined macerates are evaporated at a temperature not exceeding 40 ° C and the dry residue (SP) is mixed with silica gel in weight proportions from 1: 1 to 1: 100, preferably 1:10, and further processed. liquid / solid extraction with hexane or ethyl acetate and / or a mixture thereof, preferably in the proportion of 1: 1, followed by evaporation of the eluent, a fraction with high antitumor activity. The subject of the application is also an extract of Cochlospermum angolense Welw. ex Oliv. son. Maximilianea angolensis (Welw. Ex Oliv.), Obtained by two-stage extraction: maceration with chloroform and extraction with hexane or ethyl acetate and / or their mixture (Ex2) and the use of this extract in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
