Abstract
The subject of the application is a method of obtaining lanolin with improved low-temperature properties and hardened wax, which method consists in lanolin being a raw material, characterized by a solidification point of approx. hardened containing solvent residues, comprising a crystallization step and a filtration step, wherein in the crystallization step the raw material is subjected to a first dilution with a solvent containing 20% - 100% (m/m) of diethyl ketone and 80% - 20% (m/m) of toluene, respectively, obtaining a mixture of raw material and solvent, which is then cooled at a controlled rate, with simultaneous supply of chilled solvent in 1-6 portions of subsequent dilution at a cooling rate in the range of 0.20 - 8.5 ° C / min, until a temperature of -10 to -30°C, where the ratio of the total amount of solvent from dilutions and washing to the raw material ranges from 2.2:1 to 12.0:1 (m/m), where the size of each unit dilution is expressed as the mass ratio of solvent to of the raw material is from 0.2:1 to 5.0:1 (m/m), then in the temperature range from -10 to -30C°, the separated precipitate is filtered off, which is washed with a cold solvent of the same composition as the solvent used in the crystallization stage, used in the amount from 0.1:1 to 5.6:1 (m/m), expressed as the mass ratio of the solvent to the raw material, and then the solvent is distilled from the filtrate solution to obtain the final product, which is a modified lanolin with reduced solidification point from 31 to 41°C, and then the solvent is distilled from the sediment to obtain hardened wax with an increased solidification point from 6 to 11°C in relation to the values of these temperatures before subjecting the raw material, lanolin to the process of solvent separation into filtrate and sediment and distillation from solvent.
