Description

TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TR TRDESCRIPTION OF A RANGE HOOD WITH AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED FAN OPERATION This invention relates to a range hood containing a fan whose operation is automatically controlled. The hood is used to expel odors and moisture from food cooked in the cooking chambers of cooking appliances to the outside environment. In some range hoods with the current state of technology, the user usually adjusts the low, medium, and high speed settings of the fan motor. The user can activate the hood as needed during cooking and select the desired speed. However, range hoods where the fan operating speed is automatically determined are also available to increase user comfort and safety. For this purpose, sensors that monitor odor or temperature changes in the environment are used. In products equipped with only an odor sensor, it has been observed that the automatic operation function does not work efficiently and errors occur in cooking processes where there is no odor but intense hot steam output. During cooking, the fan's operating level is automatically determined by sensing the temperature in the upper part of the cooking appliance. The temperature sensor measures the cooking zone temperature resulting from the food being cooked and the heat of the burner. Accordingly, the fan can be automatically activated, its speed increased when the heat load increases, decreased when the heat load decreases, or switched off when the heat load is completely removed. For the automatic ventilation function to work correctly, it is crucial to accurately detect the temperature of the air rising from the cooking appliance in odor-free cooking processes, and the odor load in cooking processes that do not produce very high temperatures but produce intense odors. A European Union patent application (EP) describes a range hood containing a temperature sensor. The aim of this invention is to realize a range hood in which the operation of the fan is efficiently controlled. The hood in question consists of a housing suitable for positioning above the cooking appliance at a distance from the appliance, a fan located inside the housing that draws air through an air intake duct and expels it to the outside environment, and at least one temperature sensor suitable for measuring the temperature of the air rising from the cooking appliance. The invented range hood also includes an odor sensor located on the body, capable of detecting odor molecules in the air; and a control unit that controls the fan's operation based on the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor and the odor value obtained from the odor sensor. This allows for rapid air purification by increasing the fan's speed when cooking foods that may produce strong odors even if not sufficiently heated. Similarly, even if no odor detectable by the odor sensor is produced during the cooking process, the temperature of the steam emanating from the food can automatically activate the air purification functions. Furthermore, this prevents the fan from running unnecessarily, thus saving energy. In one application of the invention, the control unit operates the fan according to the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor. The temperature starts to rise when a cooking process begins on the cooking device. The device detects that a cooking process has started when the temperature reaches a predetermined threshold. This prevents the fan from operating if cooking has not started. Thus, the fan is only activated after the cooking process has begun. In one application of the invention, the control unit stops the fan based on the odor value obtained via the odor sensor. The control unit only stops the fan based on the odor value obtained from the odor sensor. When the cooking process ends, the fan's operating time is determined by the control unit based on the odor value obtained via the odor sensor. The fan stops automatically after this time has elapsed. Thus, even after the cooking process is complete, the fan is kept running, ensuring efficient air purification. In one application of the invention, the odor sensor is a volatile organic compound (VOC) sensor. The VOC sensor identifies odor-producing molecules in the air. The fan's operating time is determined based on the odor value obtained from the VOC sensor. In another application of the invention, the odor sensor is a humidity sensor. The relative humidity in the air is measured via the humidity sensor. It is known that as the amount of odor molecules in the air increases, the relative humidity of the air also increases. Thus, using the data obtained from the humidity sensor and the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor, the control unit can determine the amount of odor molecules in the air. In one application of the invention, the range hood includes a VOC sensor and a humidity sensor. The odor value is obtained from the VOC sensor. The relative humidity in the air is measured by a humidity sensor. When a certain increase occurs in the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor, and the relative humidity value measured by the humidity sensor also increases, the control unit decides that the cooking process has started. After the decision to start the cooking process, the fan is activated by the control unit. In a preferred version of the invention, the fan operating speed is changed according to the relative humidity value. In this way, the operation of the fan is efficiently controlled. In one application of the invention, a unit suitable for placing the fan inside the housing is included. An access opening that allows external access to the unit is partially closed with a cover. The cover closes the access opening in such a way that an air inlet is created between the access opening and the cover. The temperature sensor and odor sensor are placed on the lid, positioned between the unit and the lid. The lid is preferably made of glass. In one application of the invention, the hood includes a lid that extends over the unit at an angle to the surface plane of the cooking appliance. The hood is an inclined type hood. In inclined type hoods, heated air is drawn into the air intake duct through the inlet opening located between the lid and the unit. The temperature sensor and odor sensor are located on the inlet opening between the lid and the unit. In one application of the invention, the odor sensor is fixed on the first edge of the lid, the edge closest to the cooking appliance. This ensures that the odor sensor is fixed on the lid close to the cooking appliance. This allows the odor sensor to make more accurate and precise measurements. In one application of the invention, the range hood includes at least two temperature sensors placed on the lid, one on each side of a central height axis that runs parallel to the length of the lid and passes through the center of the lid, and an odor sensor placed on the lid between the temperature sensors. The central height axis divides the lid into two equal halves lengthwise. The air emanating from the food in the right compartment of the cooking appliance is measured by the temperature sensor located on the right half of the lid, and the air emanating from the food in the left compartment of the cooking appliance is measured by the temperature sensor located on the left half of the lid. This ensures more accurate measurement of the air temperature emanating from the food heated in different compartments of the cooking appliance. By centrally placing the odor sensor, the air emanating from food heated in different compartments of the cooking appliance is evaluated by the odor sensor under similar conditions. In one application of the invention, the range hood includes a sensor housing with a suitable housing for the odor sensor. The odor sensor is placed inside the sensor housing so that it remains completely within the housing. The sensor housing protects the odor sensor from external factors such as water, oil, dirt, and wind. In another application of the invention, the range hood includes a first housing opening on the sensor housing that allows air to enter the housing. The first housing opening is located on the lower surface of the sensor housing facing the cooking appliance. This allows the rising heated air to easily enter the sensor housing. Furthermore, this design allows for the drainage of liquid droplets, such as water or oil residue, from the sensor housing in case of condensation through the first housing opening. Water or oil droplets accumulating inside the housing are expelled through the first housing opening due to gravity. In one application of the invention, the range hood includes a second housing opening on the sensor housing, allowing air from inside the housing to exit. The second housing opening is located on the sensor housing in front of the odor sensor when the odor sensor is placed inside. When the fan is activated, the air drawn into the housing moves towards the second housing opening due to the suction force created by the fan. Thanks to the odor sensor placed inside the housing opposite the second housing opening, a large portion of the air inside the housing is passed over the odor sensor. This ensures that the odor sensor makes more sensitive and accurate measurements. In one application of the invention, the range hood includes a fin on the inner surface of the sensor housing facing the housing, which at least partially surrounds the odor sensor when it is placed inside the housing. This prevents the accumulation of odor-producing residues such as grease, dirt, and moisture on the odor sensor. Thus, it prevents the odor sensor from making inaccurate measurements due to odors produced by these residues. In another application of the invention, the sensor housing has a two-part structure. After the first part is attached to the body, the odor sensor is placed inside the first part. Then, the second part is joined to the first part, ensuring that the odor sensor is fixed on the body. Thus, the odor sensor is easily and securely fixed to the body. The first and second parts can be connected to each other via a mechanical connecting element. In another version of the invention, the first and second parts can be connected to each other without the need for a mechanical connecting element via a pair of recesses and protrusions. The hood implemented to achieve the purpose of this invention is shown in the attached figure: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hood from an application of the invention. Figure 2 is a bottom perspective view of the hood from an application of the invention. Figure 3 is a bottom perspective view of the hood from an application of the invention. Auxiliary temperature sensor 100. Cooking appliance X. Center height axis The corresponding numbers are below Hood (1); The cooker hood (2) contains a body suitable for positioning above the cooker (100) at a distance from the cooker (100), a fan inside the body (2) that allows air to be drawn in through an air intake duct (3) and expelled to the outside environment, and at least one temperature sensor (4) suitable for measuring the temperature of the air rising from the cooker (100) after heating. As can be seen in Figure 1, the cooker (100) is a cooker. The odor and moisture from the food heated on the cooker (100) are expelled to the outside environment through the hood (1). After the fan inside the body (2) is started by an electric motor, the air rising from the cooker (100) is drawn in and transferred to an air intake duct (3). The air is drawn in and expelled through an air intake channel connected to a chimney opening to the outside. The temperature of the heated air is detected by the temperature sensor (4). The number of temperature sensors (4) can be one or more. The temperature sensor (4) is placed on the body (2) so that it faces the cooking device (100). The temperature sensor (4) is positioned on the path of the rising heated air. In other words, the temperature sensor (4) is placed on the body (2) parallel to the flow direction of the rising heated air, so that the rising heated air passes directly perpendicularly through the temperature sensor (4). In this way, the sensitivity of the temperature sensor (4) in detecting the temperature of the rising air is increased. The invention, a range hood (1), also includes an odor sensor (5) located on the body (2) that is suitable for detecting odor molecules in the air, and a control unit (6) that controls the operation of the fan according to the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4) and an odor value obtained via the odor sensor (5). The odor sensor (5) is positioned on the body (2) facing the cooking appliance (100). The odor sensor (5) determines the amount of odor-producing particles or molecules in the air. In another application of the invention, the control unit (6) calculates an odor value by using the data it receives from the odor sensor (5) and the data it receives from the temperature sensor (4). The operation of the fan is controlled by evaluating both the temperature value and the odor value by the control unit (6). In this way, the operation of the fan is controlled by; The air quality of the environment is controlled by evaluating the factors that will affect it together. Thus, thanks to the combined use of the temperature sensor (4) and the odor sensor (5), the temperature and odor released during the cooking process are accurately detected, ensuring that the fan operates automatically under all conditions and the most efficient operating level is determined by the control unit (6). When an increase in the odor value in the air is detected, the fan's operating speed is increased. Similarly, when an increase in the temperature value is detected, the fan's operating speed is increased. The start, duration, speed and termination of the fan's operation are determined by the control unit (6). In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains a control unit (6) that enables the fan to start operating based on the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4). The control unit (6) decides to start the fan only based on the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4). To prevent the fan from starting unintentionally when the cooking process is not carried out due to the detection of odor-producing molecules in the environment where the range hood (1) is located, the odor value is not used when deciding to start the fan. When the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4) reaches a predetermined threshold value, the control unit (6) determines that the cooking process has started. After it is determined that the cooking process has started, the fan is activated by the control unit (6). In another application of the invention, the hood (1) includes an auxiliary temperature sensor (14) located on the body (2) suitable for measuring the ambient temperature. The auxiliary temperature sensor (14) is preferably located in a region of the body (2) far from the cooking appliance (100). In this way, the auxiliary temperature sensor (14) is affected as little as possible by the temperature of the cooking appliance (100). The auxiliary temperature sensor (14) determines the ambient temperature of the hood (1). The value obtained from the auxiliary temperature sensor (14) becomes a reference temperature value. The temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4) is compared by the control unit (6) with the reference temperature value. When the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4) exceeds the reference temperature value by a predetermined amount, the control unit (6) determines that the cooking process has started. This prevents the range hood (1), especially in hot environments, from incorrectly determining the start of the cooking process. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains a control unit (6) that stops the fan's operation based on the odor value obtained from the odor sensor (5). The fan's operation is stopped by the control unit (6) based on the odor value. In this way, when the cooking process is finished, the odor molecules in the air are absorbed and transferred to the outside environment via the air intake duct (3). When the odor value falls below a predetermined threshold value, the fan is stopped by the control unit (6). In this way, the fan is kept running until the air in the room where the hood (1) is located is free of odor molecules. Thus, the effective cleaning of the air in the room where the hood (1) is located is automatically ensured. In one application of the invention, the hood (1) contains an odor sensor (5) with a volatile organic compound sensor. The volatile organic compound sensor measures the amount and/or concentration of odor molecules in the air. In this way, the amount and/or density of molecules in the air rising from the cooking appliance (100) that can create odor in the ambient air is determined. The fan's operating speed is determined according to the odor value obtained from the odor sensor (5), which is a volatile organic compound sensor. As the odor value increases, the fan's operating speed is also increased. In this way, efficient cleaning of the ambient air is ensured. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains an odor sensor (5) which is a humidity sensor. The humidity sensor determines the relative humidity value in the air rising from the cooking appliance (100). As the number of odor molecules in the air increases, the relative humidity of the air also increases. Relative humidity also changes with temperature. The control unit (6) can determine the odor value in the air using the relative humidity value and the temperature value. The humidity sensor is a more cost-effective sensor than the volatile organic compound sensor. Thus, the amount of odor molecules in the air is determined in a cost-effective way. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) includes a volatile organic compound sensor and a humidity sensor. The amount and/or density of odor molecules in the air is determined via the volatile organic compound sensor. Thus, the odor value is obtained. The relative humidity value in the air is determined via the humidity sensor. The control unit (6) decides when to start the fan using the temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4) and the relative humidity value obtained from the humidity sensor. Thus, the control unit (6) of the range hood (1) in a house, especially in hot climates, determines when the cooking process has started more accurately and precisely. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) includes a housing (2) containing a unit (21) suitable for placing a fan inside, an access opening (22) allowing external access to the unit (21), a cover (23) that at least partially closes the access opening (22) to create an air intake opening (31) between the unit (21) and the cover (23), and a temperature sensor (4) placed on the cover (23) to remain between the unit (21) and the cover (23). The air intake duct (3) is located inside the unit (21). The cover (23) closes the access opening (22) in such a way that the inside of the unit (21) cannot be seen from the front. In this way, the aesthetic appearance is not spoiled. Between the lid (23) and the unit (21), there is an air inlet opening (31) that allows the air rising from the cooking appliance (100) to reach the air intake duct (3) inside the unit (21). The temperature sensor (4) is located above the air inlet opening (31). In this way, a large part of the air drawn in by the operation of the fan passes over the temperature sensor (4). Thus, the temperature sensor (4) is able to determine the temperature of the air more accurately and precisely. In one application of the invention, the hood (1) contains an odor sensor (5) placed on the lid (23). As can be seen in Figures 2 and 3, the odor sensor (5) is placed on the lid (23) so that it remains between the unit (21) and the lid (23). In other words, the odor sensor (5) is positioned above the air inlet opening (31). This ensures that a large portion of the air drawn in by the fan passes over the odor sensor (5). This allows the odor sensor (5) to determine the number and/or density of odor molecules in the air more accurately and precisely. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) includes a cover (23) that extends over the unit (21) to form an angle with the surface plane of the cooking appliance (100). The range hood (1) is an inclined type range hood (1). In inclined type range hoods (1), the surface of the unit (21) with the access opening (22) is structured to form an angle with the surface plane of the cooking appliance (100). The cover (23) is positioned parallel to the surface of the unit (21) with the access opening (22). This ensures that the interior of the unit (21) is concealed by the cover (23) when viewed from the front. An angle is created between the surface plane of the cover (23) and the surface plane of the cooking appliance (100). In the inclined type hood (1), the air rising from the cooking appliance (100) is directed to the inlet opening (31). Since the temperature sensor (4) and the odor sensor (5) are located above the air inlet opening (31), more air passes through the temperature sensor (4) and the odor sensor (5), increasing the accuracy and precision of the determined temperature and odor values. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains an odor sensor (5) fixed on the first edge (231), which is the edge of the lid (23) closest to the cooking appliance (100). The lid (23) is rectangular in shape. Since the lid (23) is positioned at an angle to the surface plane of the cooking appliance (100), the vertical distance of each edge of the lid (23) from the cooking appliance (100) is different. As can be seen in Figures 2 and 3, the edge of the lid (23) closest to the cooking appliance (100) in the vertical direction is the first edge (231), which is the bottom edge. The first edge (231) extends parallel to the surface of the cooking appliance (100). The odor sensor (5) is placed on the first edge (231). In this way, the rising air heated from the cooking appliance (100) is quickly measured by the odor sensor (5). The odor sensor (5) is placed on the first edge (231), facing towards the cooking appliance (100). In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) includes at least two temperature sensors (4) placed on the lid (23), at least one on each side of a central height axis (X) that runs parallel to the length of the lid (23) and passes through the center of the lid (23), and an odor sensor (5) placed on the lid (23) between the temperature sensors (4). The central height axis (X) is an imaginary axis that divides the lid (23) into two separate sections in the height direction. The area on one side of the central height axis (X) can be called the first half, and the area on the other side can be called the second half. At least two temperature sensors (4) are fixed on the lid (23), with at least one in the first half and at least one in the second half. This ensures that the air, odor and moisture emanating from the food heated in the different compartments of the cooking appliance (100) are effectively detected by the temperature sensors (4). The odor sensor (5) is placed on the first edge (231) so that it is between the temperature sensors (4). In a preferred application of the invention, as can be seen in Figure 3, the odor sensor (5) is placed on the central height axis (X). This ensures that the odor sensor (5) is placed on the lid (23) at an optimum distance from the different cooking compartments. In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains at least two temperature sensors (4) placed on the cover (23) symmetrically with respect to the central height axis (X). The temperature sensors (4) are symmetrical with respect to the central height axis (X). This ensures that the temperature of the air rising from the heated food in the right and left compartments of the cooking appliance (100) is measured under similar conditions. In another application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains an odor sensor (5) fixed to the body (2) via a sensor cover (7) that has a housing (71) suitable for placing the odor sensor (5) inside. The odor sensor (5) is placed inside the housing (71). The sensor cover (7) completely surrounds the odor sensor (5). This prevents the odor sensor (5) from being damaged by external influences. The sensor cover (7) is attached to the body (2) after the odor sensor (5) is placed inside the housing (71). The sensor cover (7) can be attached to the body (2) in a removable manner. In one application of the invention, the sensor cover (7) is attached to the body (2) by means of a mechanical fastener such as a screw. In another application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains a first cover opening (72) on the sensor cover (7) that allows air to enter the housing (71). Air rising from the cooking appliance (100) passes through the first cover opening (72) and reaches the odor sensor (5) located inside the housing (71). As can be seen in Figures 4 and 5, the first cover opening (72) is in the form of a grille. In this way, the air is at least partially filtered before reaching the odor sensor (5). In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) includes a second cover opening (73) on the sensor cover (7), which allows the air inside the housing (71) to exit. The second cover opening (73) is located on the surface of the sensor cover (7) facing the air intake duct (3) when the sensor cover (7) is on the housing (2). Thus, when the fan is activated, the air drawn into the housing (71) through the first cover opening (72) passes through the second cover opening (73) and reaches the air intake duct (3). In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) contains a spring (74) that surrounds the odor sensor (5) at least partially when the odor sensor (5) is placed inside the housing (71), located on the inner surface of the sensor cover (7) facing the housing (71). The spring (74) has a rectangular cross-section. It surrounds the odor sensor (5) on all four sides. The spring (74) surrounds the odor sensor (5) in such a way as to allow the air drawn in through the first cover opening (72) to reach the odor sensor (5). The spring (74) prevents large molecules from reaching the odor sensor (5). Thus, residues such as grease and dirt are prevented from accumulating on the odor sensor (5). In one application of the invention, the range hood (1) includes a sensor housing (7) with a first part (75) fixed on the body (2) and a second part (76) suitable for joining with the first part (75), which, when joined with the first part (75), forms a housing (71) inside for the placement of the odor sensor (5). The first part (75) and the second part (76) are connected to each other in a detachable manner. In this way, when needed, the first part (75) and the second part (76) can be separated from each other, providing access to the odor sensor (5) located in the housing (71). Thus, it is easy to replace the odor sensor (5) or remove it from the housing (71) for repair when needed. The first cover opening (72) is located on the first part (75). The second cover opening (73) is located on the second part. Thanks to this invention, a range hood (1) has been realized in which the operation of the fan is effectively controlled according to a temperature value obtained from the temperature sensor (4) and an odor value obtained from the odor sensor (5), and thus the air coming out of the cooked food is removed from the ambient air in the fastest and most energy efficient way.
