Abstract

Cette invention concerne un système de transmission optique qui fait appel à un système de transmission de type point-multipoint. Un émetteur optique, installé dans la maison d'un abonné, comprend une unité de commande qui va gérer l'actionnement d'un DL. A l'aide cette unité de commande, le DL de l'émetteur optique est normalement réglé à un état de polarisation zéro ou à un état de polarisation inverse. On mesure ensuite un signal d'état raccroché qui est envoyé par l'appareil téléphonique ou par un ordinateur connecté à l'émetteur optique lorsque l'utilisateur a mis ledit téléphone ou ordinateur en mode de fonctionnement raccroché. Un courant de polarisation aval est ensuite envoyé à travers le DL en fonction du signal d'état raccroché. Etant donné que le DL de l'émetteur optique installé chez l'abonné se trouve à un état de polarisation inverse ou de polarisation zéro lors du mode de fonctionnement raccroché, les composantes d'émission spontanées vont disparaître dudit DL. En outre, étant donné que l'on envoie au DL un courant modulé qui est fonction du signal de données à transmettre pendant que le courant de polarisation aval traverse ledit DL, ce dernier va émettre les signaux optiques sans retard d'émission lumineuse.
