Definitions
- the invention in this report relates to the field of methods for cleaning, preserving and hygienic treatment of contact lenses.
- the present invention uses an effervescent tablet which has the same properties than the multi purpose solutions for cleaning, disinfection and preserving contact lenses.
- the present invention is directed to a special filter system obtaining a sterile surrounding wherein the effervescent tablet is solved.
- Running tap water if it is drinkable, can be used in the special filter system.
- This invention can therefore also be related to the use of sterile solutions for the treatment of hard contact lenses as well as the common soft contact lenses such as weekly lenses and monthly lenses.
- contact lenses are removed they have to be disinfected in order to prevent growth of harmful micro organism. If only solutions for cleaning and comfort are used, secondary growth of micro organism is always near.
- the first approved method by FDA (1971) using heat as disinfection It was a salt tablet that has to be solved in heat water from at least 80 0 C, each of the lenses has to be at least 10 minutes in the salt water.
- An important object of the invention is the improved system to clean and disinfect contact lenses anywhere at any time in any conditions one only needs a bit of drinkable water.
- Another object of the present invention is the ease of working and the little of space the filter kit takes as well as a strip of effervescent tablets. To clean, disinfect rinse or preserve anyone's contact lenses one needs an effervescent tablet and the little container witch measured about one inch in diameter and less then 3 inches of height. Therefore it can be easily carried in a handbag or the like.
- First main object of the invention is to bring all components that are necessary for cleaning, disinfection, wetting and preserve contact lenses together in a stable effervescent tablet.
- the effervescent tablet when it is being solved in water gives a multi purpose solution for the treatment of contact lenses.
- Second main object of this invention is treating the water by a special filter system.
- the filter system consist of two containers an inner container and outer container. Both have a screw tread that fits on each other.
- the filter is build in the bottom of the inner container; through screwing the inner in the outer container the water in the outer container is pressed through the filter and the water has so been purified.
- the filter system allows the user to filter a sufficient amount of running tap water, if it is drinkable, which is adjusted by the filter system in a manner that the effervescent tablet, after being solved, gives a solution with a pH between 6.8 and 7.6 and an osmolality between 0.275 and 0.295 Os / KG.
- Another feature is the advantage starting from the beginning with purified water before active components where added be means of an effervescent tablet. Less cleaning and disinfection compounds are needed for getting the same result, witch will results in fewer deposits on the contact lenses after treatment.
- An embodiment of the invention is the stability of the active components because they are in a solid condition by means of the effervescent tablet.
- a further embodiment of this invention is that the effervescent tablet is packed in a push packing, what gives again an advantage of handling.
- Fig.l is the frontal view of the stopper wherein a standard holder for contact lenses is plugged wherein the left contact lens is placed separately from the right contact lens.
- Fig.2 is the frontal view of the inner container that has a filter system in the bottom and a screw tread on the outside.
- the stopper in fig.l can be screwed on the inner container in fig.2.
- Fig.3 shows the outer container with a screw tread on the inside wherein the inner container from Fig.2 can be screwed to get enough pressure to filter the water from the outer container into the inner container.
- the first part of the present invention is the composition of an effervescent tablet.
- the effervescent tablet has the following properties it cleans, it keeps sterile solutions, sterile, it moistens the contact lenses and it preserves contact lenses.
- the second part of the present invention is directed to the use of a special filter system that filters a measured amount of running tap water; the water has to be drinkable.
- the filter is so chosen that the filtered water becomes sterile.
- This sterile water is directly available in an inner container wherein the effervescent tablet is put in.
- the soiled contact lenses are put separately in a standard holder for contact lenses; the holder is than screwed on top of the inner container.
- the second part of the invention what refers to the special filter system, may be best understood by referring to the drawings.
- Fig.l shows a standard holder for contact lenses wherein the left contact lens is separate from the right contact lens. Usually the standard holder for contact lenses is assembled in the stopper.
- the special filter system exist of two containers namely an inner container (fig.2) witch have a special filter in his bottom and an outer container (fig.3).
- the inner container have an outer screw tread witch can be screwed in the outer container witch is made with an inner screw tread that fits.
- Running tap water if it is drinkable
- the inner container is screwed in the outer container with the water inside; the pressure that then occurs filters the water trough the filter in the bottom of the inner container.
- the stopper with the separate contact lenses is screwed on the top of the inner container.
- the stopper can be screwed on the inner container; witch contains the filtered running tap water.
- the present invention is a combination of the use of an effervescent tablet with the properties of a multi purpose solution for cleaning and disinfection of contact lenses and the special filter system that gives a container with the adjusted amount of sterile water a container wherein the standard holder for contact lenses is screwed. 1. EFFERVESCENT TABLET.
