Definitions

  • the invention in this report relates to the field of methods for cleaning, preserving and hygienic treatment of contact lenses.
  • the present invention uses an effervescent tablet which has the same properties than the multi purpose solutions for cleaning, disinfection and preserving contact lenses.
  • the present invention is directed to a special filter system obtaining a sterile surrounding wherein the effervescent tablet is solved.
  • Running tap water if it is drinkable, can be used in the special filter system.
  • This invention can therefore also be related to the use of sterile solutions for the treatment of hard contact lenses as well as the common soft contact lenses such as weekly lenses and monthly lenses.
  • contact lenses are removed they have to be disinfected in order to prevent growth of harmful micro organism. If only solutions for cleaning and comfort are used, secondary growth of micro organism is always near.
  • the first approved method by FDA (1971) using heat as disinfection It was a salt tablet that has to be solved in heat water from at least 80 0 C, each of the lenses has to be at least 10 minutes in the salt water.
  • An important object of the invention is the improved system to clean and disinfect contact lenses anywhere at any time in any conditions one only needs a bit of drinkable water.
  • Another object of the present invention is the ease of working and the little of space the filter kit takes as well as a strip of effervescent tablets. To clean, disinfect rinse or preserve anyone's contact lenses one needs an effervescent tablet and the little container witch measured about one inch in diameter and less then 3 inches of height. Therefore it can be easily carried in a handbag or the like.
  • First main object of the invention is to bring all components that are necessary for cleaning, disinfection, wetting and preserve contact lenses together in a stable effervescent tablet.
  • the effervescent tablet when it is being solved in water gives a multi purpose solution for the treatment of contact lenses.
  • Second main object of this invention is treating the water by a special filter system.

  • Another feature is the advantage starting from the beginning with purified water before active components where added be means of an effervescent tablet. Less cleaning and disinfection compounds are needed for getting the same result, witch will results in fewer deposits on the contact lenses after treatment.
  • An embodiment of the invention is the stability of the active components because they are in a solid condition by means of the effervescent tablet.
