空気入りタイヤ
 本発明は、空気入りタイヤに関し、詳しくは、トレッドの主溝にフレキシブルフェンスを形成して気柱共鳴音を低減しつつ、良好な排水性能を得ることが出来る空気入りタイヤに関する。
 タイヤのトレッドに形成された主溝の気柱共鳴音は、その主溝と路面とで形成される管内(気柱)の共鳴により発生し、その共鳴周波数は、路面との間で形成される主溝の気柱の長さに依存する。
 この気柱共鳴音は車輌内外の騒音という形で現れ、多くの場合人間の耳に届きやすい1kHz前後にそのピークを持つ。この主溝の気柱共鳴音を低減させる技術として、主溝の溝壁や溝底から延び、主溝の全て、もしくは大半を遮断する、いわゆるフレキシブルフェンス、つまり突起物を設け、主溝の形成方向の空気の流れを遮ることにより、気柱共鳴音を低減させるようにする技術が知られている。しかしながら、主溝の形成方向の空気の流れを遮ることにより、濡れた路面を走行した際に、主溝内に入り込んだ水の主溝内の流れもが遮られることになり、空気入りタイヤと路面との間に介在する水の排水性が低下するため、濡れた路面での操縦安定性が低下する。
 特許文献1の図4には、主溝内に、その溝内の対向する溝壁及び溝底からそれぞれ延びる3つのグルーブフェンス3(フレキシブルフェンス)を互いに隙間を設けて配置することにより、気柱共鳴音の低減と排水性を両立させるようにした技術が開示されている。
 また、特許文献2の図3には、主溝内の溝底から延びる隔壁30(フレキシブルフェンス)を、主溝開口部からの大部分を溝壁に接触しないように配置することにより、気柱共鳴音の低減と排水性を両立させるようにした技術が開示されている。

 ここで、本発明者らは、いわゆるフレキシブルフェンスは、流体圧を受けて倒れ込む際、その主溝に取り付けられた根本部分は大きくたわまず、主溝への取付部から高さ方向に所定距離隔てた部分で大きくたわみ、主にその部分の曲率が小さくなることにより、フレキシブルフェンス全体が溝内で倒れ込むことを実験や解析により見出した。このような知見に基づけば、上記特許文献1及び特許文献2に開示された技術では、グルーブフェンス3或いは隔壁30が溝底或いは溝壁から延びるように形成されているので、フレキシブルフェンスが倒れこんだ状態であっても、フレキシブルフェンスの根元部分が大きくたわまずに主溝内に残るために、主溝が、その深さ方向(フレキシブルフェンスが溝底から延びる場合)や溝幅方向(フレキシブルフェンスが溝壁から延びる場合)で狭められ、その狭められた分、主溝の流体の排水を阻害するという問題点がある。また、特にフレキシブルフェンスが主溝の溝底からトレッド踏面に向けて延びている場合には、フレキシブルフェンスの摩耗の進行と共にフレキシブルフェンスの高さが減少して全体の曲げ剛性が高くなるので、そのような摩耗の進行とともに上述したような主溝内に残る根本部分の範囲が大きくなり、これにより、気柱共鳴音の低減は維持されるものの、摩耗とともに排水能力が低下していくという問題点がある。
 そこで本発明は、上述した従来技術が抱える問題点を解決するためになされたものであり、気柱共鳴音を低減しつつ、良好な排水性能を得ることが出来る空気入りタイヤを提供することを目的とする。
 また、本発明は、気柱共鳴音の低減及び良好な排水性能をフレキシブルフェンスの摩耗末期まで維持させることが出来る空気入りタイヤを提供することを目的とする。

 また、特に、フレキシブルフェンスが接続される凹部が主溝の底面に形成され、フレキシブルフェンスがトレッド踏面に向けて延びる場合、主溝へのフレキシブルフェンスの接続位置を主溝の底面より深い位置とした分、フレキシブルフェンスの摩耗末期でもその高さを確保して、より確実にフレキシブルフェンスの摩耗に伴う排水能力の低下を抑制することが出来る。
 ここで、「溝」とは、通常の使用条件下で相互に接触することのない二つの対向する面(壁面)を、他の面(底面)により接続して構成された、幅及び深さを持つ空間のことをいう。
 また、「主溝」とは、流体の排水を主に受け持つ、トレッドに形成される種々の溝の中で比較的広い幅を持つ溝のことをいう。主溝は、多くの場合、直線状、ジグザグ状又は波状にタイヤ周方向に延びる溝を意味するが、タイヤ回転方向に対して角度を持って延びる、流体の排水を主に受け持つ比較的広い幅を持つ溝も含まれる。
 また、「凹部」とは、溝を構成する面(対向する壁面、底面)に、その溝の深さもしくは幅を増加する方向に設けられた部分のことをいう。凹部は、溝を構成する面に開口し、また、溝の延びる方向に離間した位置に、溝を構成する面に接する二つの縁部を有する。溝の深さもしくは幅は、その凹部が形成された位置で、溝の延びる方向に沿って、一方の縁部から増加しはじめ、もう他方の縁部にて元の深さもしくは幅に戻る。この凹部は、凹部が形成されている面(対向する壁面、底面)に対して垂直方向に測定される最大深さを有する。
 また、「プライ」とは、タイヤトレッドの半径方向内側をタイヤ回転方向に延びる、ゴム材料により被覆された鉄、ポリエステル、ナイロン等の材料の層のことをいう。
 また、「トレッド踏面」とは、タイヤを下記の産業規格で定められている適用リムに装着すると共に、定格内圧を充填し、定格荷重を負荷した際に路面と接触するトレッドの表面領域のことをいう。
 また、「規格」とは、タイヤが生産または使用される地域に有効な産業規格によって定められるものである。例えば、産業規格は、欧州ではETRTO(The European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization)の“STANDARDS MANUAL”であり、米国ではTRA(THE TIRE AND RIM ASSOCIATION INC.)の“YEAR BOOK”であり、日本では日本自動車タイヤ協会(JATMA)の“JATMA YEAR BOOK”である。また、「適用リム」とは、タイヤのサイズに応じてこれら規格に規定されたリムをいい、「定格内圧」とは、これらの規格において、負荷能力に対応して規定される空気圧をいい、「定格荷重」とは、これらの規格において、タイヤに負荷することが許容される最大の質量をいう。
 本発明において、好ましくは、フレキシブルフェンスが、凹部の開口部から少なくとも1.0mm以上の深さの位置で凹部に接続される。
 このように構成された本発明においては、フレキシブルフェンスの流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分を、主溝を構成する底面或いは壁面と同程度の高さ位置、或いは、主溝を構成する底面或いは壁面に対して低い位置とすることが出来る。従って、流体圧による倒れこみの際、主溝の断面積をより確実に確保することが可能となり、その結果、排水性をより確実に確保することが出来る。
 本発明において、好ましくは、凹部の開口部は、主溝の延びる方向に離間した位置に主溝の幅方向に延びる縁部をそれぞれ有し、主溝の延びる方向における、フレキシブルフェンスから開口部の縁部のうち少なくとも一方の縁部までの距離Lhrtが、1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンスの高さhの120%以内である。
 このように構成された本発明においては、フレキシブルフェンスの流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分が、凹部内に位置するようなフレキシブルフェンスの可倒域を確保することにより排水性を確保し、また必要以上に凹部を開口させないことで、トレッドの耐久性を確保することができる。ここで、距離Lhrtを1.25mmよりも小さくすると、フレキシブルフェンスが十分に倒れこむことが難しくなり、排水性が低下する。一方、距離Lhrtを新品時のフレキシブルフェンスの高さhの120%より大きくすると、凹部が主溝の底面に形成されている場合、主溝の底面からプライまでのタイヤ半径方向の肉厚が小さくなる範囲が増大して、トレッドの耐久性が低下し、また、凹部が主溝の壁面に形成されている場合は、トレッドの接地面積の減少する範囲が増大して、通常タイヤに求められる諸性能が低下する。
 本発明において、好ましくは、凹部には、その最も深い位置に、主溝の延びる方向の長さLrb及び最大深さDrを有する底部が形成され、凹部の開口部が主溝の延びる方向の長さLrtを有し、凹部の底部長さLrbが、凹部の開口部長さLrtよりも短い。
 このように構成された本発明においては、凹部が主溝の底面に形成されている場合、凹部の最大深さからプライまでのタイヤ半径方向間隔が少なくなる部分を減少させることにより、トレッドの耐久性を確保し、また、凹部が主溝の壁面に形成されている場合は、凹部の形成によるトレッドの接地面積の減少をより少なくすることにより、通常タイヤに求められる諸性能が確保される。
 本発明において、好ましくは、フレキシブルフェンスが、底部に接続され、凹部の最大深さDrが少なくとも1.0mm以上である。
 このように構成された本発明においては、フレキシブルフェンスの流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分を、より確実に、主溝の底面或いは壁面と同程度の高さ位置、或いは、主溝の底面或いは壁面に対して低い位置とすることが出来る。
 本発明において、好ましくは、フレキシブルフェンスは凹部の最も深い位置に接続されている。
 このように構成された本発明においては、凹部の深さを最大限利用してフレキシブルフェンスを設けることが可能となり、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に排水性を確保することが出来る。
 ここで、「凹部の最も深い位置」とは、凹部の設けられている底面或いは壁面に対して垂直方向の凹部の深さが最大となる位置を指し、凹部の最大深さはこの凹部の最も深い位置にて測定される。
 本発明において、好ましくは、凹部は主溝の底面に形成され、その凹部にフレキシブルフェンスが接続されている。
 このように構成された本発明においては、タイヤを製造する際の型抜きの方向とフレキシブルフェンスの延びる方向が同一になるため、このようなタイヤの生産性に優れる。
 本発明において、好ましくは、凹部の開口部は、主溝の延びる方向に離間した位置に主溝の幅方向に延びる縁部をそれぞれ有し、主溝の延びる方向における開口部の縁部間の距離Lrtが、2.5mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンスの高さhの240%以内である。
 このように構成された本発明においては、フレキシブルフェンスの可倒域を有効に確保し易くなると共に必要以上に凹部を開口させないようにすることが出来、これにより、排水性を確保すると共にトレッドの耐久性を確保することができる。
 本発明において、より好ましくは、凹部の最も深い位置と、タイヤ半径方向最外側のプライの半径方向外側面との間をタイヤ半径方向に測定した長さが1.0mm以上である。
 このように構成された本発明においては、溝底部の厚さを確保することにより、凹部を形成したことによる溝底部の厚さの減少によるトレッドの耐久性の低下を抑止することができる。
 ここで、「溝底部の厚さ」とは、タイヤ半径方向に測定した、トレッドの最もタイヤ半径方向内方の空隙(例えば主溝の底面)と、半径方向最外側プライの半径方向外側面までの厚さのことをいう。
 本発明において、好ましくは、凹部は、主溝の第1及び第2の壁面のうちの一方の壁面に形成され、フレキシブルフェンスは、一方の壁面に形成された凹部に接続されている。
 このように構成された本発明においては、トレッドの摩耗によるフレキシブルフェンスの曲げ剛性の変化が少ないため、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に長期にわたり排水性を確保することが出来る。
 本発明において、好ましくは、凹部は、主溝の第1及び第2の壁面のほぼ対向する位置にそれぞれ形成され、フレキシブルフェンスは、2つのハーフフェンスにより形成され、これらのハーフフェンスが、ほぼ対向する位置に形成された凹部にそれぞれ接続されている。
 このように構成された本発明においては、トレッドの摩耗による各ハーフフェンスの曲げ剛性の変化が少ないため、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に長期にわたり排水性を確保することが出来る。また、ハーフフェンスの曲げ剛性は、1つのフェンスで主溝を遮断するようにしたフレキシブルフェンスよりも相対的に上がるので、より均一にハーフフェンスのトレッド踏面側の側面を摩耗させることが出来る。
 ここで、「ハーフフェンス」とは、フレキシブルフェンスの主溝幅方向の長さを概ね主溝の半分程度に減じたもののことをいう。フレキシブルフェンスとしての機能を損なわない限りは、二つのハーフフェンスを非対称形状としたり、また二つのハーフフェンス間に空隙、もしくは重なり合いを持っても良い。
 本発明において、好ましくは、フレキシブルフェンスの厚さEは0.3mm以上1.0mm以下である。
 このように構成された本発明においては、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に排水性を確保することが出来る。即ち、フレキシブルフェンスの厚さを0.3mmよりも小さくすると、フレキシブルフェンスの寸法的な剛性の低下により、空気圧によってもフレキシブルフェンスが倒れ込んでしまい、気柱共鳴音の低減効果が減少する恐れがある。一方、フレキシブルフェンスの厚さを1.0mmよりも大きくすると、フレキシブルフェンスが主溝内に倒れこんだ際の主溝の断面の開口割合が小さくなり、排水性が低下する恐れがある。
 本発明による空気入りタイヤトレッドによれば、気柱共鳴音を低減しつつ、良好な排水性能を確保することが出来る。

 以下、本発明の好ましい実施形態を図面を参照して説明する。
 先ず、図1及至図3により、本発明の第一実施形態による空気入りタイヤを説明する。
 図1は、本発明の第一実施形態による空気入りタイヤのトレッド部を模式的に示す図であり、図2は、図1のII-II線に沿って見た空気入りタイヤのトレッド部の拡大断面図であり、図3は、図1のIII-III線に沿って見た空気入りタイヤのトレッド部の拡大断面図である。
 先ず、図1に示すように、符号1は、本実施形態による空気入りタイヤ1を示し、この空気入りタイヤ1はトレッド部3を有し、トレッド部3には、XX‘にて示すタイヤ周方向に延びる幅Wgの二本の主溝4が形成されている。主溝4は、3つの面、即ち、対向する壁面411、412及び底面413を有する。なお、この例におけるタイヤサイズは225/55R16であり、トレッド部3のタイヤ回転方向は規定されていない。本実施形態においては、対向する壁面411、412はそれぞれタイヤ半径方向に垂直に延び、溝幅Wgは14.5mmである。
 この図上には、タイヤが定格内圧に充填され、定格荷重が負荷された際のトレッド踏面7及びその際のトレッド踏面長さLが図示されている。なお“ETRTO STANDARD MANUAL 2011”によれば、当該サイズの適用リムは7J、定格内圧は250kPa、定格荷重は690kgであり、本実施形態においては、踏面長さLは143mmである。
 ここで、タイヤ転動中に、トレッド踏面7を通過する各主溝4は、路面との間に気柱を形成し、主溝4の共振周波数は、そのようにして形成された気柱の長さに依存する。本実施形態では、気柱の長さを変化させて気柱共鳴音の周波数を変化させるために、図1乃至図3に示すように、主溝4内にフレキシブルフェンス5が設けられている。図1乃至図3に示すように、各主溝4には凹部6が複数形成され、これらの凹部6に、それぞれ、主溝4を大きく遮断することが可能なフレキシブルフェンス5が形成されている。図1に示すように、同一の主溝4内に形成される各フレキシブルフェンス5の設置間隔Pは、タイヤ転動中に、少なくとも一つのフレキシブルフェンスが各主溝4の踏面7内に常に存在するように、踏面長さLよりも短い間隔とされている。
 次に、各凹部6の構成を説明する。
 図2及び図3に示すように、凹部6は、主溝4の底面413に形成されている。凹部6は、底面413に対して垂直方向に最大深さDrを有し、その最大深さDrの位置には、後述するフレキシブルフェンス5の接続部としての底部61が形成されている。この底部61は、主溝4の延びる方向(以下、「主溝4の長手方向」という。)の両側に、それぞれ、主溝4の幅方向に直線状に延びる縁部611、612を有する。また、凹部6は、主溝4の底面413で主溝4に開口する開口部62、及び、傾斜部63を有する。開口部62は、主溝4の長手方向の両側に、それぞれ、主溝4の幅方向に直線状に延びる縁部621、622を有し、傾斜部63は、底部61の縁部611、612と、開口部62の縁部621、622とを接続するように斜めに延びている。底部61は、主溝4の長手方向において、凹部6の中間に位置するよう形成されている。なお、開口部62の縁部621、622及び底部61の縁部611、612は、タイヤ半径方向から見て、主溝4の幅方向に曲線状、例えば円弧状に延びるように形成されていても良い。
 図2に示すように、開口部62は、その一方の縁部621から他方の縁部622まで、主溝4の底部43上に主溝4の長手方向に長さLrtにわたって開口し、底部61は、主溝4の底面413と平行に延び、その一方の縁部612から他方の縁部622まで、長さLrbにわたって延びている。底部61は、タイヤ半径方向最外側のプライ2のタイヤ半径方向最外側面に対して、タイヤ半径方向においてEuの厚さを有するように形成されている。即ち、底部61のタイヤ半径方向位置と、タイヤ半径方向最外側のプライ2のタイヤ半径方向最外側面の位置との間の肉厚がEuの厚さ確保されるようになっている。
 次に、各フレキシブルフェンス5の構成を説明する。
 フレキシブルフェンス5は、凹部6に接続される基底部51を有し、図2に示すように、その基底部51が底部61に接続され、且つ、フレキシブルフェンス5がタイヤ半径方向(タイヤ回転軸に対して垂直方向)に延びるように設けられている。
 また、図3に示すように、フレキシブルフェンス5は、その基底部51の幅方向の両側の部分を除き、その高さ方向のほぼ全体にわたって、その両側面と主溝4の対向する壁面411,412との間に、フレキシブルフェンス5の倒れ込みを阻害しない程度の隙間を有するよう設けられている。
 図1に示すように、各フレキシブルフェンス5は、主溝4の長手方向に対する垂直方向(主溝4の幅方向)に延びるよう形成されている。また、図1に示すように、各フレキシブルフェンス5は、そのタイヤ周方向の断面形状が長方形を有するように形成され、その長方形断面は、フレキシブルフェンス5の高さ方向(タイヤ半径方向)にわたり、上述した幅l(図3参照)と、厚さE(図2参照)とを有している。
 また、図3に示すように、フレキシブルフェンス5は、主溝4の長手方向から見て(正面視)、主溝4の断面形状に合わせて長方形状に形成され、図2及び図3に示すように、主溝4の深さDgおよび凹部6の最大深さDrの合計深さよりやや低い高さhを有している。
 フレキシブルフェンス5は、主溝4の断面積(主溝4の長手方向から見た主溝4の開口の断面積)の少なくとも70%を遮断するよう形成され、主溝4内を流れる主に水のような液体による水圧により倒れこむように形成されている。本実施形態において、主溝4の深さDgは8.0mm、凹部6の最大深さDrは1.2mm、フレキシブルフェンス5の高さhは8.2mm、幅lは13.5mm、厚さEは0.6mmであり、フレキシブルフェンス5は主溝4の断面積の約87%を遮断している。
 なお、例えば、本実施形態のタイヤの例において、フレキシブルフェンス5を、主溝4の断面積の少なくとも70%を遮断するように、およそ6.8mm以上の高さhを有する矩形状のものとしてもよい。なお、本実施形態の例に限らず、タイヤ主溝4の溝幅Wg、溝深さDg及び凹部6の最大深さDrが変われば、このフレキシブルフェンス5の幅l及び高さhもそれに応じて変更して、主溝4の断面積の少なくとも70%を遮断するようにすればよい。
 本実施形態では、フレキシブルフェンス5は、トレッド部3と同じ材料で構成されている。なお、フレキシブルフェンス5を、トレッド部3と異なる材料で構成するようにしても良い。
 次に、凹部6の形状及び寸法、フレキシブルフェンス5の配置を説明する。
 本実施形態においては、凹部6の最大深さDrは1.2mmであり、凹部6の開口部62の長さLrtは7.2mmであり、凹部6の底部61の長さLrbは2.0mmであり、凹部6の開口部62と底部61とは傾斜部63により直線状に接続されている。
 なお、このようなフレキシブルフェンス5が接続される底部51の最大深さDrは1.0mm以上が好ましい。また、フレキシブルフェンス5は、深さ1.0mm以上の位置であれば、最大深さDrでない位置で凹部6に接続されていても良い。
 また、凹部6は、凹部6を設けることによる主溝4の溝底部(本実施形態では、図2に示すDr+Euの厚さ部分)の厚さの減少による耐久性の低下を抑制することが出来るように、凹部6の最も深い位置がタイヤ半径方向最外側のプライの半径方向外側面から厚さEuを有するように形成されている。本実施形態において、この厚さEuは1.2mmである。このように、タイヤの耐久性の観点では、凹部を設けた分、主溝の底面とプライとの間のタイヤ半径方向の肉厚が減少してしまう部分をより少なくするのが好ましい。
 図2に示すように、本実施形態では、凹部6の横断面形状(主溝4の長手方向の横断面形状)が、その開口部62と底部61とが直線状に接続され且つ主溝4の長手方向に対して対称形状になるように接続されている。より詳細には、本実施形態では、底部61が直線状に設けられており、それらの各縁部611、612と開口部62の各縁部621、622とを傾斜部63で接続し、それらの傾斜部63が対称形状に形成されている。なお、傾斜部63の横断面形状が、円弧状、スプライン、直線と円弧の組合せなど、底部61に接続されたフレキシブルフェンス5の倒れこみを妨げないような他の形状で形成しても良く、凹部6の横断面形状は、凹部6に接続されたフレキシブルフェンス5の倒れこみを妨げない限り非対称形状であっても良い。また底部長さLrbが実質ゼロとなるように設定しても良く、この場合、例えば、凹部6の横断面形状が全体的に円弧状になるように形成しても良い。
 また、図2に示すように、主溝4の長手方向における、フレキシブルフェンス5の厚さE方向の中間線と、開口部62の各縁部621、622との間の最短距離Lhrtは、いずれも、3.6mmである。なお、本実施形態とは異なり、タイヤ1の回転方向が規定されている場合、フレキシブルフェンス5の倒れ込む方向も一定の方向に想定されるので、そのフレキシブルフェンス5の倒れ込みが想定される一方側のみ、上述した距離Lhrtを確保し、凹部6を非対称な横断面形状を有するように形成しても良い。なお、上述した最短距離Lhrtは、例えば、縁部621、622が、タイヤ半径方向から見て、フレキシブルフェンス5に対して主溝4の長手方向に外方に膨らむような円弧状であるとき(図示せず)は、フレキシブルフェンス5の厚さE方向の中間線と、円弧状の縁部621、622のいずれかの端部との間の距離として設定され、タイヤ半径方向から見て、フレキシブルフェンス5に対して主溝4の長手方向に内方に膨らむような円弧状であるときは、フレキシブルフェンス5の厚さE方向の中間線と、円弧状の縁部621、622の最もフレキシブルフェンス5の側に膨らんだ位置との間の距離として設定される。
 次に、図4により、本発明の第一実施形態による空気入りタイヤの、濡れた路面を走行中の状態を説明する。
 図4は、図1のII-II線に沿って見た空気入りタイヤ用トレッドの濡れた路面を走行中の状態を示す拡大断面図である。
 図4に示すように、凹部6に接続されたこのフレキシブルフェンス5は、濡れた路面を走行する際、主溝4内を通過する主に水のような液体の発生する水圧によって倒れこみ、或いは、曲げられ、結果としてその主溝4への突出高さがh*まで減少し、そのような突出高さの減少により、主溝の主要部分が開放され、排水性が確保される。上述した凹部6及びフレキシブルフェンス5の構成を有する本実施形態においては、フレキシブルフェンス5の最も大きくたわむ部分は凹部6内で発生し、フレキシブルフェンス5による主溝4の閉塞は概ねフレキシブルフェンス5の厚さE分のみとなり、フレキシブルフェンスが主溝の底面から延びる場合よりも多く主溝を開放することが可能となるため、より排水性が確保される。
 また、本実施形態のように主溝4の底面413に凹部6を設け、凹部6にフレキシブルフェンス5を接続した場合、タイヤの摩耗によりフレキシブルフェンス5が摩耗し、それによりフレキシブルフェンス5の曲げ剛性が増大しても、溝深さDgが本実施形態と同じ場合で且つフレキシブルフェンスが主溝の底面から延びる場合よりも、凹部6を設けてフレキシブルフェンス5を相対的に低い位置から延びるようにした分、フレキシブルフェンス5の曲げ剛性が相対的に低くなるため、摩耗末期まで排水性能が維持される。
 次に、本発明の第一実施形態による空気入りタイヤの主な作用効果を説明する。
 先ず、本実施形態では、主溝4内に形成され、主溝4の断面積の少なくとも70%を遮断し、タイヤ転動時、トレッド踏面7内の主溝4内に少なくとも1つ存在するような間隔Pで配置されるフレキシブルフェンス5により、路面との間で形成される主溝4の気柱の長さを、フレキシブルフェンスを形成しない場合に対して変更して、気柱共鳴音のピークを人間の耳に届きやすい周波数帯から外すことが容易になり、その結果、気柱共鳴音による騒音が改善される。
 また、主溝4の底面413に凹部6を形成し、その凹部6にフレキシブルフェンス5を接続するよう構成しているので、主溝4内に入り込んだ水の水圧によりフレキシブルフェンス5が倒れ込んだ際の主溝4の排水性をより確実に確保することができる。より詳細には、主溝4へのフレキシブルフェンス5の接続位置を、主溝4の底面413より深い位置とすることが出来るので、その深さの分、フレキシブルフェンス5の根本部分が主溝4内に残らないようにすることにより、主溝が、その溝高さ方向に狭められることを抑制することが出来る。また、特に、主溝4へのフレキシブルフェンス5の接続位置を主溝4の底面413より深い位置とした分、フレキシブルフェンス5の摩耗末期でもその高さを確保して、より確実にフレキシブルフェンス5の摩耗に伴う排水能力の低下を抑制することが出来る。
 また、フレキシブルフェンス5が、凹部6の開口部62から少なくとも1.0mm以上の深さの位置で凹部6に接続されるので、フレキシブルフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分を、主溝4の底面413と同程度の高さ位置、或いは、主溝4の底面413に対して低い位置とすることが出来る。従って、流体圧による倒れこみの際、フレキシブルフェンス5を設けた位置においても、主溝4の断面積をより確実に確保することが可能となり、その結果、排水性をより確実に確保することが出来る。なお、凹部4の最大深さを1.0mmよりも小さくすると、流体圧による倒れこみの際、フレキシブルフェンス5の大きくたわむ部分が、主溝4の底面413よりも高い位置で発生する危険性が高くなり、排水性を高いレベルで確保することが難しくなる。
 また、主溝4の長手方向における、フレキシブルフェンス5から開口部62の各縁部621、622のうち少なくとも一方の縁部(621及び/又は621)までの距離Lhrtが、1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの120%以内であるので、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りつつ、フレキシブルフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分が、フレキシブルフェンス5の凹部6への接続位置から開口部62の縁部621、622までの凹部6内に位置するようにして、フレキシブルフェンス5の可倒域を確保することにより排水性を確保し、また必要以上に凹部6を開口させないことで、トレッド3の耐久性を確保することができる。ここで、距離Lhrtを1.25mmよりも小さくすると、フレキシブルフェンス5が十分に倒れこむことが難しくなり、排水性が低下する。一方、距離Lhrtを新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの120%より大きくすると、主溝4の底面413からプライ2までのタイヤ半径方向の肉厚が小さくなる範囲が増大して、トレッド3の耐久性が低下する。従って、主溝4の長手方向における、フレキシブルフェンス5から開口部62の縁部621、622のうち少なくとも一方の縁部までの距離Lhrtを1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの120%以内とすれば、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、排水性を確保し、タイヤ1の耐久性及び諸性能を維持することが出来る。
 また、凹部6の底部長さLrbが開口部長さLrtよりも短いので、凹部6の最大深さの位置からプライ2までのタイヤ半径方向間隔が少なくなる部分を減少させることにより、トレッド3の耐久性を確保することが出来る。
 また、フレキシブルフェンス5が凹部6の底部61に接続され、その最大深さDrが1.0mm以上であるので、フレキシブルフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分を、より確実に、主溝4の底面413と同程度の高さ位置、或いは、主溝4の底面413に対して低い位置とすることが出来る。
 また、フレキシブルフェンス5は凹部6の最も深い位置に接続されているので、凹部6の深さを最大限利用してフレキシブルフェンス5を設けることが可能となり、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に排水性を確保することが出来る。
 また、凹部6は主溝4の底面413に形成され、その凹部6にフレキシブルフェンス5が接続されているので、タイヤ1を製造する際の型抜きの方向とフレキシブルフェンス5の延びる方向が同一になるため、このようなタイヤ1の生産性に優れる。
 また、凹部6の開口部62は、主溝4の長手方向に離間した位置に主溝4の幅方向に延びる縁部621、622をそれぞれ有し、主溝4の長手方向における各縁部621、622間の距離Lrtが、2.5mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの240%以内であるので、フレキシブルフェンス5の上述したような可倒域を有効に確保し易くなると共に必要以上に凹部6を開口させないようにすることが出来、これにより、排水性を確保すると共にトレッド3の耐久性を確保することができる。
 また、凹部6の最も深い位置と、タイヤ半径方向最外側のプライ2の半径方向外側面との間をタイヤ半径方向に測定した長さが1.0mm以上であるので、溝底部の厚さを確保することにより、凹部6を形成したことによる溝底部の厚さの減少によるトレッド3の耐久性の低下を抑止することができる。
 また、フレキシブルフェンス5の厚さEは0.3mm以上1.0mm以下であるので、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に排水性を確保することが出来る。即ち、フレキシブルフェンス5の厚さを0.3mmよりも小さくすると、フレキシブルフェンス5の寸法的な剛性の低下により、空気圧によってもフレキシブルフェンス5が倒れ込んでしまい、気柱共鳴音の低減効果が減少する恐れがある。一方、フレキシブルフェンス5の厚さを1.0mmよりも大きくすると、フレキシブルフェンス5が主溝4内に倒れこんだ際の主溝4の断面の開口割合が小さくなり、排水性が低下する恐れがある。従って、フレキシブルフェンスの厚さを0.3mm以上1.0mm以下とすれば、気柱共鳴音の低減を図り 
 次に、図5により、本発明の第二実施形態による空気入りタイヤを説明する。
 図5は、本発明の第二実施形態による空気入りタイヤのトレッド部の一部を模式的に示す図である。本実施形態の凹部6及びフレキシブルフェンス5の形状及び寸法などの基本構成は、上述した第一実施形態と同様であり、ここでは、上述した第一実施形態と異なる構成について主に説明する。
 図5に示すように、タイヤのトレッド部3には幅Wgの主溝4が形成され、本実施形態では、凹部6が、主溝4の一方の壁面411に、主溝4の幅を広げる方向に設けられている。凹部6は、深さDrを有し、第一実施形態と同様に、その最も深い部分に、厚さEを持つフレキシブルフェンス5が接続され、主溝4の幅方向に延びている。図示はされていないが、フレキシブルフェンス5は主溝4の底面413とは所定の隙間を有するように設けられている。
 本実施形態のように主溝4の一方の壁面411(または412)に凹部6を設け、その凹部6にフレキシブルフェンス5を接続した場合、トレッド部3の摩耗によりフレキシブルフェンス5が摩耗してもフレキシブルフェンス5の曲げ剛性に大きな変化が無いので、摩耗によりフレキシブルフェンス5が倒れづらくなり主溝4内の排水を阻害する影響は殆ど無い。また、上述したようにフレキシブルフェンス5の部分的な大きなたわみが凹部6内で起こることにより、主溝4を大きく開口することが可能となるので、気柱共鳴音を低減しながら、排水性能をより向上させることが出来る。
 なお、変形例として、上述した作用を有するものであれば、配置間隔Pのいずれか一箇所或いは複数箇所で、主溝4の一方の壁面411(または412)のみならず底面413にも凹部6を設け、それらの凹部6にそれぞれ上述した第二実施形態及び第一実施形態のようなフレキシブルフェンス5を接続するなどしてもよい。また、第一実施形態で上述したようなフレキシブルフェンス5の設置間隔Pで、主溝4の一方の壁面411と他方の壁面412とに、交互に或いは適当な割合で、上述した第二実施形態のようなフレキシブルフェンス5及び凹部6を設けるようにしても良い。
 次に、本発明の第二実施形態による空気入りタイヤの主な作用効果を説明する。本実施形態による空気入りタイヤの作用効果は、基本的には上述した第一実施形態と同様であり、ここでは、主に第二実施形態に特有の作用効果を説明する。
 先ず、本実施形態では、主溝4の一方の壁面411に凹部6を形成し、その凹部6にフレキシブルフェンス5を接続するよう構成しているので、主溝4へのフレキシブルフェンス5の接続位置を、主溝の壁面411(又は412)より深い位置とすることが出来、その深さの分、フレキシブルフェンス5の根本部分が主溝4内に残らないようにすることにより、主溝4が、その溝幅方向に狭められることを抑制することが出来る。
 また、フレキシブルフェンス5が凹部6の開口部62から1.0mm以上の深さの位置で凹部6に接続されるので、フレキシブルフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分を、主溝4の壁面411(又は412)と同程度の高さ位置、或いは、主溝4の壁面411(又は412)に対して低い位置とすることが出来る。従って、流体圧によるフレキシブルフェンス5の倒れこみの際、主溝4の断面積をより確実に確保することが可能となり、その結果、排水性をより確実に確保することが出来る。
 また、主溝4の長手方向における、フレキシブルフェンス5から開口部62の各縁部621、622のうち少なくとも一方の縁部(621及び/又は621)までの距離Lhrtが、1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの120%以内であるので、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りつつ、フレキシブルフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分が、フレキシブルフェンス5の凹部6への接続位置から開口部62の縁部621、622までの凹部6内に位置するようにして、フレキシブルフェンス5の可倒域を確保することにより排水性を確保することが出来る。ここで、距離Lhrtを1.25mmよりも小さくすると、フレキシブルフェンス5が十分に倒れこむことが難しくなり、排水性が低下する。一方、距離Lhrtを新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの120%より大きくすると、トレッド3の接地面積の減少する範囲が増大して、通常タイヤに求められる諸性能が低下する。従って、距離Lhrtを1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンス5の高さhの120%以内とすれば、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、排水性を確保し、タイヤ1の諸性能を維持することが出来る。
 また、凹部6は、主溝4の一方の壁面411(又は412)に形成され、その凹部6にフレキシブルフェンス5が接続されているので、トレッド3の摩耗によるフレキシブルフェンス5の曲げ剛性の変化が少ない構成とすることが出来、これにより、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に長期にわたり排水性を確保することが出来る。
 次に、図6により、本発明の第三実施形態による空気入りタイヤを説明する。
 図6は、本発明の第三実施形態による空気入りタイヤのトレッド部の一部を模式的に示す図である。本実施形態の凹部6及びフレキシブルフェンス5の形状及び寸法などの基本構成は、上述した第一実施形態と同様であり、ここでは、上述した第一実施形態と異なる構成について主に説明する。
 図6に示すように、タイヤのトレッド部3には幅Wgの主溝4が形成され、本実施形態では、凹部6が、主溝4の両方の壁面411、412に、主溝4の幅を広げる方向に設けられている。それぞれの凹部6は、壁面411、412の対向する位置に形成されている。各凹部6は、深さDrを有し、第一実施形態と同様に、各凹部6の最も深い部分に、厚さEを持つフレキシブルフェンス5がそれぞれ接続されている。各フレキシブルフェンス5は、上述した第一実施形態のほぼ半分の高さh/2を有し、互いに対向する位置で、各壁面411、412から主溝4の幅方向に延びている。各フレキシブルフェンス5の基本的な機能は、第一実施形態のフレキシブルフェンス5と同様である。(以下、これらのフレキシブルフェンス5を、「フレキシブルハーフフェンス(ハーフフェンス)」と呼ぶ。)図示はされていないが、各フレキシブルハーフフェンス5は、主溝4の底面413とは所定の隙間を有するように設けられている。各フレキシブルハーフフェンス5は、それぞれが対向する形で概ね同じ主溝の幅方向高さh/2、厚さE及び主溝4の深さ方向の長さ(第一実施形態のフレキシブルフェンス5の幅lに相当する)を持ち、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5間に所定の隙間を有するように設けられている。
 本実施形態のように主溝4の両方の壁面411、412に凹部6を設け、各凹部6にフレキシブルハーフフェンス5を接続した場合、トレッド部3の摩耗によりフレキシブルハーフフェンス5が摩耗してもフレキシブルフェンス5の曲げ剛性に大きな変化が無いので、摩耗によりフレキシブルハーフフェンス5が倒れづらくなり主溝4内の排水を阻害する影響は殆ど無い。また、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5の部分的な大きなたわみが凹部6内で起こることにより、主溝4を大きく開口することが可能となるので、気柱共鳴音を低減しながら、排水性能を向上させることが出来る。また、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5は相対的に曲げ剛性が高いため、主にそのトレッド踏面側の側面をより均一に摩耗させることが可能となる。
 なお、変形例として、上述した作用を有するものであれば、配置間隔Pのいずれか一箇所或いは複数箇所で、主溝4の両方の壁面411、412のみならず底面413にも凹部6を設けたり、同位置のフレキシブルハーフフェンス5及び凹部6の組において、主溝4の両方の壁面411、412の凹部6を主溝4の長手方向に互いにオフセットさせたり、各凹部6に接続されるフレキシブルハーフフェンス5の長さや形状を異なるものにしたり、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5が主溝4の長手方向に重なり合いを持つなどしてもよい。
 また、第一実施形態で上述したようなフレキシブルフェンス5の設置間隔Pで、上述した第一実施形態のフレキシブルフェンス5及び凹部6、第三実施形態のフレキシブルフェンス5及び凹部6、及び/又は、上述した第二実施形態のフレキシブルフェンス5及び凹部6を、交互に或いは適当な割合で設けるようにしても良い。
 次に、本発明の第三実施形態による空気入りタイヤの主な作用効果を説明する。本実施形態による空気入りタイヤの作用効果は、基本的には上述した第一実施形態と同様であり、ここでは、主に第三実施形態に特有の作用効果を説明する。
 先ず、本実施形態では、主溝4の両方の壁面411、412に凹部6を形成し、それらの凹部6にフレキシブルハーフフェンス5を接続するよう構成しているので、主溝4へのフレキシブルハーフフェンス5の接続位置を、主溝の壁面411、412より深い位置とすることが出来、それらの深さの分、各フレキシブルハーフフェンス5の根本部分が主溝4内に残らないようにすることにより、主溝4が、その溝幅方向に狭められることを抑制することが出来る。
 また、各フレキシブルハーフフェンス5が凹部6の開口部62から1.0mm以上の深さの位置で凹部6に接続されるので、各フレキシブルハーフフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、それらの大きくたわむ部分を、主溝4の壁面411、412と同程度の高さ位置、或いは、主溝4の壁面411、412に対して低い位置とすることが出来る。従って、流体圧によるフレキシブルハーフフェンス5の倒れこみの際、主溝4の断面積をより確実に確保することが可能となり、その結果、排水性をより確実に確保することが出来る。
 また、主溝4の長手方向における、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5から開口部62の各縁部621、622のうち少なくとも一方の縁部(621及び/又は621)までの距離Lhrtが、1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルハーフフェンス5の高さhの120%以内であるので、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りつつ、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5の流体圧による倒れこみの際、その大きくたわむ部分が、フレキシブルフェンス5の凹部6への接続位置から開口部62の縁部621、622までの凹部6内に位置するようにして排水性を確保することが出来る。
 また、凹部6は、主溝4の対向する壁面411、412のほぼ対向する位置にそれぞれ形成され、2つのフレキシブルハーフフェンス5が、それらの凹部6にそれぞれ接続されているので、トレッドの摩耗による各ハーフフェンスの曲げ剛性の変化が少ない構成とすることが出来、これにより、気柱共鳴音の低減を図りながら、より確実に長期にわたり排水性を確保することが出来る。また、フレキシブルハーフフェンス5の曲げ剛性は、1つのフェンスで主溝を遮断するようにしたフレキシブルフェンスよりも相対的に高いので、より均一にフレキシブルハーフフェンス5のトレッド踏面7側の側面を摩耗させることが出来る。
 以上、本発明の特に好ましい実施形態について記述したが、本発明は図示の実施形態に限定されることなく、種々の態様に変形して実施しうる。

Claims (12)

  1.  底面及び対向する第1及び第2の壁面を有する少なくとも一本の主溝と、この少なくとも一本の主溝内に形成された厚さEを有する複数のフレキシブルフェンスとを有するトレッドと、このトレッドの半径方向内側に配置され、タイヤ周方向に延びる少なくとも一つのプライとを有する空気入りタイヤであって、
     前記複数のフレキシブルフェンスは、前記主溝の断面積の少なくとも70%を遮るように前記主溝内で延び、且つ、タイヤ転動時、トレッド踏面内の前記主溝内に少なくとも1つ存在するような間隔で配置され、
     前記主溝の底面、第1の壁面及び/又は第2の壁面には、前記主溝に開口する開口部を有する複数の凹部が形成され、
     前記複数のフレキシブルフェンスは前記複数の凹部にそれぞれ接続され、前記凹部の開口部を通って前記主溝内で延びることを特徴とする空気入りタイヤ。
  2.  前記フレキシブルフェンスは、前記凹部の開口部から少なくとも1.0mm以上の深さの位置で前記凹部に接続される請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  3.  前記凹部の開口部は、前記主溝の延びる方向に離間した位置に主溝の幅方向に延びる縁部をそれぞれ有し、
     前記主溝の延びる方向における、前記フレキシブルフェンスから前記開口部の前記縁部のうち少なくとも一方の縁部までの距離Lhrtが、1.25mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンスの高さhの120%以内である請求項1又は請求項2に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  4.  前記凹部には、その最も深い位置に、前記主溝の延びる方向の長さLrb及び最大深さDrを有する底部が形成され、
     前記凹部の開口部は、前記主溝の延びる方向の長さLrtを有し、
     前記凹部の底部長さLrbが、前記凹部の開口部長さLrtよりも短い請求項1乃至3の何れか一項に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  5.  前記フレキシブルフェンスは前記凹部の底部に接続され、前記底部の最大深さDrが少なくとも1.0mm以上である請求項4に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  6.  前記フレキシブルフェンスは前記凹部の最も深い位置に接続されている請求項1乃至4の何れか一項に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  7.  前記凹部は前記主溝の底面に形成され、その凹部に前記フレキシブルフェンスが接続される請求項1乃至6の何れか一項に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  8.  前記凹部の開口部は、前記主溝の延びる方向に離間した位置に主溝の幅方向に延びる縁部をそれぞれ有し、
     前記主溝の延びる方向における前記開口部の縁部間の距離Lrtが、2.5mm以上であり且つ新品時のフレキシブルフェンスの高さhの240%以内である請求項7に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  9.  前記凹部の最も深い位置と、タイヤ半径方向最外側のプライの半径方向外側面との間をタイヤ半径方向に測定した長さが1.0mm以上である請求項7又は請求項8に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  10.  前記凹部は、前記主溝の第1及び第2の壁面のうちの一方の壁面に形成され、前記フレキシブルフェンスは、前記一方の壁面に形成された凹部に接続されている請求項1乃至9の何れか一項に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  11.  前記凹部は、前記主溝の第1及び第2の壁面のほぼ対向する位置にそれぞれ形成され、前記フレキシブルフェンスは、2つのハーフフェンスにより形成され、これらのハーフフェンスが、前記ほぼ対向する位置に形成された凹部にそれぞれ接続されている請求項1乃至10の何れか一項に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
  12.  前記フレキシブルフェンスの厚さEが0.3mm以上1.0mm以下である請求項1乃至11の何れか一項に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
