Process for producing a coating over the windings of motors, in particular for refrigerating machines, for protection against acids.
In the case of electric motors that are exposed to acid fumes, such as refrigeration machines in particular, in which the electric motor is connected directly to the compressor housing and is gas-tight from the outside to avoid stuffing boxes, the motor winding must be protected against the influence of the acid. The previously used impregnations of the insulation of such motor windings do not offer absolute security against damage; there are therefore many short circuits and thus malfunctions.
However, a non-magnetizable steel hood over the armature of the motor, whereby the stator can be open, offers effective protection while avoiding the stuffing box. However, this requires an air gap between stator and armature that is at least twice as wide, on the one hand to prevent friction between armature and hood and on the other hand to prevent contact between the stator and the latter when the motor heats up during operation. However, this circumstance causes significantly stronger Wilbelstromungen and thus low efficiency of the motor.
Furthermore, it has also become known per se to use glass and water glass to protect windings, but these substances do not serve the purpose intended by the invention.
According to the invention, a gas-tight and permanently durable protection of the winding itself against the action of acids, oil and. Like. Formed, so that a protective hood is avoided, the air gap is reduced to a minimum and the efficiency can be brought to a maximum.
The subject matter of the invention for producing the coating for the motor winding to protect against acid u. Like. Consists of the following: After the motor winding is finished and insulated, it is covered with double water glass. While it is still wet, this layer is covered tightly with glass dust and the whole is heated to dry the water glass.
The water glass with the glass dust then forms an impenetrable and firmly adhering shell, which makes it impossible for foreign substances to penetrate into the insulation and which is also resistant to acids. Air spaces in the insulation that could allow gases to penetrate are excluded.
