PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PREPARATIONS CONTAINING VITAMINS
This invention relates to the production of vitamin-containing preparations from vitamin-containing fats.

In the previously known processes for the production of vitamin-containing preparations starting from vitamin-containing fats, a frequently applied method, after a suitable chemical transformation of the fat, consists in making use of volatile solvents for the vitamins (ether, alcohol, etc. .), after which we. removes the solvent by distillation, and the vitamin usually remains in a concentrated state.

According to the present invention, the vitamin is

extracted without resorting to volatile substances, an important feature of the present process is that the vitamin is separated from the fat chemically.

   Z.1. lt1, .i.d1 t: [t \ l'JÇ1 fj + ': d.f: 1Í! Q edible which is liquid at the leaching temperature
The chemical treatment to which the fat used as the starting material is intended to be subjected may for example consist of saponification with slaked lime to produce calcium soaps. When this saponification is carried out in a convonable manner, a solid mass is obtained which can easily be subdivided and of which the vitamins can be transferred in a proportion, more or less large by leaching inside a edible fat which is liquid at extraction temperature.

It is important) in order to obtain a satisfactory result in this leaching, to exclude oxygen and light during the treatment because, if it were otherwise, the vitamins would be quickly destroyed.

Example: 1.4 kg of quicklime are quenched with water, a quantity of which is used a little greater than the theoretical quantity (for example approximately 1 liter).

We heat 10 Imitates' legacies: from fish liver to.

80-100 Co in an indifferent gas atmosphere, then the slaked lime is introduced in small fractions and mixed with the oil while stirring.

The resulting mass is allowed to stay for 18-20 hours in a container which is suitably insulated against heat loss.

At the end of this period of time, the reaction. is finished. We spray the solid calcium soap

The resulting powder is then macerated in 20 kgs of cottonseed oil at 40-50 C for 20-24 hours.

After cooling, the oil is separated from the powder by filtration. The resulting oil is clear and contains a large proportion of the vitamins of the starting material.
