Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"TRANSFORMATION BROCADE OF CELLULOSE-BASED MATERIALS 9 IN PARTICULAR TEXTILE MATERIALS" by:
The present intention relates to a process for transforming cellulose-based fibers and, in particular, textile fibers taken either in their natural state or after spinning or weaving, so as to cause swelling of these fibers. fibers, to increase their weight and give them properties which replenish the fabrics which are formed by them, substantially heavier and at the same time more regular and essentially modify the texture in an advantageous manner.
The invention essentially consists in subjecting the fibers or threads woven by means of these fibers alternately to the action of air and to the action of a special chemical solution in which the fibers, threads or fibers are immersed. fabrics made from them.
The invention consists more particularly in the composition of the chemical solution or bath in which the fibers are impregnated. This solution is alkaline-based and also contains a certain amount of acids as well as a certain amount of acid. 'Oxygen or Ozone.
The materials soaked or impregnated in this solution are then passed through ozonated air; preferably,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the case of fabrics, this operation will be repeated several times, that is to say that after a first passage in air, following the impregnation in the bath, the materials are impregnated or immersed in the bath a second time and then passed again to air and so on, the operation being able to be repeated as often as it may seem necessary to obtain the desired result.
With the aim of making the invention understood), the latter will be described below in one embodiment, given by way of example, the invention not being limited to this embodiment:
The materials are soaked for a time which should not exceed a period of a few minutes and at room temperature in an alkaline-based solution consisting, for example, of a proportion of 85 parts of potassium hydroxide, and to which acids are added in the following proportions:
Acetic acid:? parts. hydrochloric acid: 6 parts are added either beforehand or after the composition of the bath described above of Oxygen or Ozone.
After soaking, the materials or fabrics thus treated with the above solution, are passed through air mixed with o- zone or oxygen and the operation is repeated, if necessary, two or more times as has been said above.
The product is then neutralized with acid, in the manner generally used in the textile industry, and the product obtained is finally washed with water.
The yarns and fabrics obtained according to the present invention have undergone a transformation which makes their value much greater, their weight and their volume having appreciably increased; the fabrics acquire new qualities to the touch and have undergone a real chemical transformation which in turn. essentially modifies the texture in a beneficial manner.
