engager l'une de ces deux parties avec l'autre. L'une de ces parties, soit 46a, peut tour- ner librement autour de l'axe 49 sans agir sur le calen- drier, à moins que par l'insertion d'une monnaie elle soit engagée avec la partie 46 , auquel cas l'axe 48 sera mis en rotation par celle de la trémie jusqu'à ce que celle-ci arrive dans la position qui libère la monnaie, en la faisant passer vers le bas du passage 41 dans le réceptacle 42 sur l'axe 49 et rigidement relié avec celui-ci est montée une pièce 50 pourvue de deux rouleaux 51, 51, qui par la rotation de l'axe feront mouvoir le levier condé 52, pivotant en 53, sur une des pièces latérales du chas- ;

<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The envelope 1 is provided with coin slots, 12, 121, under which are placed two hoppers or
EMI4.1
receivers in two parts 13, 13l and l, 141 respectively, which are mounted on the same axis and on the lateral sides 2. When inserting a coin, in the
EMI4.2
slot 12 for example, the hopper 13, 131 can actuate, as will be described below, a pawl 15 by means of a lever 16 pivoting in contact with the support rollers 17 carried by the part 13 of the mentioned hopper.
-The pawl15 is engaged in a ratchet wheel 18, fixed to a roller 5, so that during operation, a rotary movement is transmitted to this roller ..-, which leads, in the construction shown.
EMI4.3
shown in FIG. 1, another month of the year to be visible through the opening 7 of the envelope. The roll 5 can however be provided with a notice or any text.
In a similar way, the roller. 3 is actuated during the rotation of the hopper 14, 141. by means of letier

The hoppers 13, 1S and 14, 2: they are provided each with recesses Z6, 27, which are formed by complementary recesses made in cl2acuno parts 13, 131 and lu, 11 respectively. The recesses 26, 27 are arranged so as to place immediately below the coin slots 121 12 of the envelope, so that when a coin is inserted through one of these slots

to operate the mechanism of engagement activated by this one.
The recess 86 of the hopper 13, 131 extends only partially into the hopper and is shaped

convergent, so that any coin whatsoever makes the mechanism operable manually, while) the recess 87¯ of the hopper 14, L4 'passes entirely through it, and a coin not having the desired dimdnsuon will be , not retained in this hopper and will not effect the desired connection between its two parts. The recesses 86 and i3% are doubled in each hopper, i.e. a recess is formed in the upper surface and the lower sarface of each hopper so that the recesses of each hopper are placed immediately.

under the corresponding slot after each partial rotation of the hopper.
It will be appreciated, however, that the two hoppers can be provided with a recess such as 26 which extend only partly into the hopper or

By this means the inscriptions of the days of the month carried by the roll 4 can be modified relative to those of the days of the week carried by the roll 3
The envelope 1 is provided with a movable closure 33
EMI6.7
(Fig. Z) by which the inserted coins can be withdrawn by the envelope, this closure preferably being the means of closing or sealing it in position.
According to a modification of the present invention,
EMI6.8
the roller 5 bearing the inscriptions of the months of the year, is periodically actuated by the rotation or the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
partial rotation of the roller 4, for example, by adapting a part carried by the endless belt 8 to engage and intermittently actuate the pawl 15., where the locking wheel 18 mounted on the shaft of the roller- water 5. Saivant another simplified construction, the internal mechanism is mounted directly on the outer casing 1 of the collection box and instead. rolls bearing series of inscriptions, in addition to one or more disc-shaped pieces, may be provided, each bearing the desired inscriptions around its circumference.
Referring to the construction shown in Figs. 6 to 11, the envelope 36 is provided with an opening
37 through which the day of the week and that.! da months can be going; 38 being an opening where the nem- da month is exposed, 39 a slot through which coins can be inserted. The essential mechanism of the apparatus is placed inside the casing so that it can be removed for repair or adjustment.
This mechanism is arranged in a frame comprising the side pieces 40 between which extends a passage 41 intended for coins and through which they can be delivered into a receptacle 42 which can be inserted under this passage, and can be fixed. removable manner, in position by a lock, the entry of which is shown at 45 in FIG. 6.
The passage is provided at its upper part with a slot 44, to which are adjacent the baffles 45, serving to prevent the exit of coins out of the passage, and their introduction into the mechanism in the event that the apparatus is returned. ,
As in the previous constructions, the coin hopper comprises two parts 46, 46a, the latter being rigidly connected to the part 47 which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
provided with extensions 48 which can enter a slot of the envelope, so that one can act on the calendar, when a coin has been inserted into the hopper so as to.
engage one of these two parties with the other. One of these parts, that is 46a, can rotate freely around the axis 49 without acting on the calendar, unless by inserting a coin it is engaged with part 46, in which case the axis 48 will be rotated by that of the hopper until the latter arrives in the position which releases the currency, by making it pass down the passage 41 into the receptacle 42 on the axis 49 and rigidly connected with it is mounted a part 50 provided with two rollers 51, 51, which by the rotation of the axis will move the driven lever 52, pivoting at 53, on one of the side parts of the chaser;
sis of the mechanism against the. spring 54. On the part on the other side of the frame is placed a lever 55 which can move, in opposition to the spring 56, by the action of the rollers: ;;: 57, 57 with which the part 47 is provided. This lever acts simply to force the recesses 58 of the two halves of the hopper 46, 46a to come into the same alignment.
Condé lever 52 is connected to a connecting rod 59, the end of which is provided with a projection 60 which engages in a latching ring 61, which also cooperates with the pawl 62, pivoting 1311 63 on one of the parts sides of the chassis, and which is connected to the connecting rod 59 by the spring 64 The movement of the elbow lever, against the spring which can be effected, as indicated above, when a coin is inserted into one or the other of the recesses 58, rotates the latching wheel 61 and its axis 65, following successive edges.
on this

During the return movement of the pawl, by the action of the spring, which movement is possible when the projection 72 has passed through the elevation 73, this pawl by

following its engagement in the roua dyenuliquetaé ,, e 78, mounted on the axis 79 da tsmboar 8 bearing the names of the months, will rotate the drum so as to bring the name of the month in alignment with the oavertune 38, the pawl 81 with which the spring 82 is associated functioning as a stopper Cligaet of the ratchet wheel in order to prevent the tarnbotzr 8t2 from being torn other than the ma-

niere described.
In order to carry out the necessary adjustment of the drum 70, in the presence of the difference in the number of days of the months, the operative connection between this drum and the ratchet wheel 75 is made by the pawl 71 which makes it possible to move the drum independently of the ratchet wheel and consequently also the drum 80.
Referring to Figs. 12 to 17, the side plates of the frame carrying the essential elements of the mechanism are shown at 83, and 83a, this frame being housed in a casing 84 provided with openings 85, 86 and 87 through which the name of the machine. day, the number representing the day of the month and the name of the month are respectively visible.
In this casing a cast iron 88 is provided, by which the coins can be inserted into the hopper consisting of two parts 89 and 89a each of which is provided with slots 90, 90a, which are arranged to come into a common alignment, and form pockets there to receive 'the change, which when it is in the slot, forms an operative link between the two parts, one of which 89a, is associated with the piece 91 provided with extension 92 with the aid of which laws that a currency is inserted, you can see on the calendar in order to change the date.
The two castings of the two parts of the hopper are forced to come into alignment by means of a pair of levers 93, 93 pivoting at 94 on the side pieces 83, 83a of the apparatus, and associated with the springs. 95. When a coin is inserted into the hopper and the coin 91 is rotated, an operative link is thus established between the part 898 rotating around the axis 96, and the part 89 connected. strictly at this -axis, it will be rotated and by,
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
the intermediary of the toothed pinion 97, of the chain 98, of the toothed wheel 99 and of the axis 100, will cause the drum 101 mounted on this axis to rotate in a corresponding manner, and which is provided with inscriptions representing the days of the week.
As a cutter, the rotation of this axis will rotate the sleeve 102 on which there are four teeth 103 which engage in irons 104 or have slots 114, as shown in FIG. 16, provided in a flexible band 105 on which are inscribed the figures representing the days of the month, this band thus being set in motion in order to bring the appropriate figure into the alignment of the opening 86. This band, as can be seen more clearly in FIG. 13, passes over several idler pulleys 106, and it is provided with a projection 107 adapted to engage in the toothed rode 108 mounted on the axis 1Q9 on which is also mounted the drum 110 bearing the names of the months. .
On the axis carrying the tamboar 110 is also mounted a notched wheel 111 with which the spring 112 cooperates, intended to ensure the exact position of the name of the month relative to the opening of the frame through which the names of the months are visible.
Slitting the one-half-toar operation of the hopper, posting with: it axis 96, will rotate the drum 101 of a seventh year of subdivision and aassi will advance the flexible band a thirtieth of its length, while every thirty-first turn of axis 96 and drum 110 will turn a twelfth turn. In view of the differences between the number of days of the various months, an average is preva to move the flexible band and the drum bearing the names of the months, independently of the hopper.
As indicated above, a sleeve 102 is mounted on the shaft

As will be noted, it is only when the recessed part 115 of the strip is adjacent to the axis, that

the key 116 can be inserted. by this means the use of the key to modify the figures representing the days of the month is prevented otherwise than when the figures 28,
29,30 and 31 are visible.
As will be understood, a receptacle is provided in the envelope for the inserted coins and this receptacle will be provided with a passage through which these coins will descend from the hopper into the receptor, which will normally be intended to be closed in. the envelope so that only the person authorized to do so can remove the coins. In addition, when the apparatus is used for a charitable or other purpose, it may be found suitable to provide a further slot in. the envelope by which currencies can be introduced without affecting the calendar.
According to another modification, the hoppers in two. parts are deleted, the arrangement being such that by inserting a coin and pressing it into the corresponding slot, it directly engages and sets in motion a lever or another pivoting member which brings about the operation of the tying mechanism and the rotation to be communicated to the mentioned rollers or disks.
