Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Building materials and their instructions for use.

   In the construction industry, attempts have been made for a long time to obtain building materials which, on the one hand, allow the construction to be carried out quickly and inexpensively and on the other hand have the following advantages: 1 ) low weight per volume, 2) high insulating power against heat and noise, 3) non-combustible, 4) use of inexpensive and readily available raw materials, 5) possibility of assembling different construction elements without use water, etc.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The present invention relates to building materials which fully and in a very simple manner meet the above-mentioned requirements both as regards the properties of the material itself and from the point of view of the instructions for use.

   These materials are made as follows: sawdust, sieved and freed of impurities and resinous elements by cooking in water, is mixed with sand and Portland cement. To the mixture is added an aqueous solution of slaked lime, plaster, strong glue and water glass which is mixed thoroughly while stirring. The proportion of the dry elements of the first mixture as well as that of this mixture relative to the solution added varies within wide limits depending on the properties which the material to be obtained must have.

   Appropriate molds are filled with the mass thus obtained and allowed to remain in them until sufficient strength is obtained, that is to say for about 3 to 7 days. Between the different layers of the mass introduced into the molds, one places at certain distances - depending on the thickness of the plates which one wishes to obtain - strands of straw in all directions, to prevent the harmful effects of contractions and dilations as a result. temperature variations. After 3 to 7 days, the product in the form of plates is removed from the molds and exposed to the open air, so that the plates acquire, after a few days, the solidity necessary for use. in the construction.

   The building materials produced in the manner described, that is to say the plates obtained with the aid of this Product, additionally exhibit the qualities mentioned above.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 above still other very important advantages, the most notorious of which are: the possibility of sawing the plates or driving nails into them, resistance to the action of water and cold; finally, the surface of the plates is entirely smooth.

   The properties and advantages of the new product allow the execution of a new construction method. The plates are fixed by mechanical means, for example nails or screws, to the wooden or iron support frame on both sides of the uprights and beams. In this way a wall is obtained, consisting of an internal wall and an external wall. The space between these walls constitutes an insulating layer. The plates can be provided with rabbets or ribs to allow their exact and tight juxtaposition. The smooth surface of the plates eliminates the need for any plastering or plastering, as well as the use of water and mortar, which allows the work to be carried out quickly and independently of atmospheric conditions and makes the building clean. be inhabited immediately after completion of the work.

   Wood and straw roofs that are covered with the materials described become incombustible.

    EXAMPLE: 96 liters of sieved sawdust and boiled in water are mixed with 48 liters of sand and 32 liters of cement. 64 liters of an aqueous solution containing 3/4 of a liter of water glass, approximately 120 grams of strong glue, 2 klgr, are made to act on this mixture. of plaster and 2 kg. of slaked lime. The mass obtained in this way is put into molds. After 24 hours the side frames are removed and after another 48 hours the produced plates are removed from the base. After 10 days, the plate has a solidity which makes it possible to transport it and to hammer nails there.
