 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

This envelope is pierced with a circular opening of a diameter matched to the caliber of the carburetor outlet tube with regard to the volume of air to be allowed to enter it and taking into account the interposition of the vanes which will be described later. The interior of the casing is hollowed out to a diameter greater than that of said opening, which gives rise to a seat on which rests the flat ring with helical or radial vanes, the points of which approach each other towards the center of the opening, this ring being machined to slide smoothly between the walls of the chamber delimited by the envelope.

   A nozzle is screwed into the outer wall thereof, the bore of which forms an additional air intake, the part of the outer edge of the paddle ring located opposite this air intake being thickened. to completely seal it. From this nozzle a branch pipe leads to the valve inspection chamber, this pipe being optionally provided with a T-piece, one branch of which leads to this chamber in a similar fashion while its other pin leads to the end of the valve. radiator overflow pipe in the case of a water-cooled internal combustion engine, one or both branches in question may be fitted with regulating valves.

 is formed by a secondary plane ring in which, approximately in the middle of its width, holes of the same number and spacing as the slots of the paddle ring are made, these holes not, however, exactly corresponding to them when said vane ring is mounted in place above this secondary ring. This is c.ssu'jeti at the base of the chamber of the apparatus without being able to move and is airtight on its inner and outer edges which are invariably fixed or wedged against its'cotes and its based.

  This takes the form of a hollow cylinder from which almost all the metal is removed from the walls, giving rise to an air-filled duct representing approximately a complete circle, in the wall of which is implanted a nozzle. forming additional air intake through which the air arrives from the place or places indicated above under the action of the suction exerted on the helical paddles, the pu.lettes ring being by the same forced to turn , which brings its slits to the holes of the secondary ring,

   the additional air arriving as indicated by the connection pipe passing through the nozzle of the base of the chamber then the holes of the secondary ring to reach a point located behind the helical vanes through the slots in front of the chamber. ticked in the ring with paettes. This cannot be lifted away from its seat because of the proximity of the flange forming the cover, so that this method of introducing additional air is advantageous, the rotation of the ring. vane being due to the suction of gas from the carburetor to the engine, which suction forces the gas stream to strike the helical vanes.

   In order to minimize the friction against the flange 21 formed cover, ball bearings 20 are provided; 16 designates the window or the air inlet slits placed behind the pallets 6 ,.

   The function of the device is as follows: If it is intended rather to be mounted on a vertical intake pipe, its casing 1 is horizontally between the carburetor and the intake pipe 3, the ring 5 resting against seat 7 with the. pallets 8 in the opening, the extra thickness 14 of this ring completely closing off the additional air inlet channel 12.

   The aspiration of the engine forces a current of gas to pass through the pipe 4 of the carburettor before striking the vanes 6, the helical shape of which breaks this current and stirs it, which completes the atomization in other words of disaggregate the particles. The force of this running thus striking the pallets 6 lifts the ring 5 away from its seat 7, any rotation being prevented by the guide pins 8 which only allow vertical lifting.

   This causes the ring 5 to unmask part or all (depending on the circumstances) of the additional air intake 12, thus allowing the admission of a current of air under the influence of the air. '' suction exeroed by the current coming from the valve inspection chamber and optionally also from the end of the radiator overflow pipe in the case of a water-cooled internal combustion engine .
