"Production de nouveaux colorants azoiques insolubles à l'eau'
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Production of new water-insoluble azo dyes'
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to a process for the production of new water insoluble azo dyes, the new azo dyes and the fibers on which the new azo dyes have been produced.
It relates more particularly to azo dyes of the general formula:
EMI2.1
', in which R1 replaces an alkyl or aralkyl radical such as methyl, ethyl or benzyl, to the benzene nucleic acid to which non-solibilizing substituents such as alkyl, halogen and alkoxy can be attached, and R2 denotes an alkyl, an aryl, aralkyl or hydroaromatic radical, such as a radical of the benzene series which may bear other non-solubilisan substituents or the radical of hexahydrobenzene, or the group N replaces the radical of a cyclic system hydrogenated R containing nitrogen, such as the radical of piperidine, pyrrolidine, B-methyl-pyrrolidine and similar products, R3 replaces an aromatic ring,
such as the benzene ring, containing as a substituent an alkoxy group, such as the methoxy or ethoxy group, and the ring of which may bear other% substituents such as halogen, alkoxy or alkyl, and x and y replace
Halogen, methyl or alkoxy.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The new dyes are obtained by the usual diazotization of an aromatic amine corresponding to the following general formula:
EMI3.1
in which R1, R2, x and y have the meaning given above - and by coupling with an arylamide of 2,3-hydroxy naphthoic acid containing in the aryl ring of an arylamide radical as substituent an alkoxy group, said ring possibly carrying d 'other non-solubilizing substituents.
Coupling can be performed in substance or on a substratum, especially on cellulosic fiber such as cotton or regenerated cellulose. The dyes prepared in substance are generally presented in the form of conservatives with shades ranging from orange to dark red, while dyes repaired on the fiber, for example by a printing process or according to other known methods of preparing dyes with ice, generally give shades ranging from orange to burgundy, which have good solidity properties, and in particular good fastness to light.
The bases used for the production of the new dyes are obtained, for example, by condensation of the corresponding chlorides, nitroarylsulfonic acid with the amines se-; nitro group corresponding condaries, followed by reduction of the amino group
By way of nonlimiting, the present invention is illustrated by the following examples.
