  Monsieur Marcel BILLON.

   Fig. 1 en est une coupe longitudinale
Fig. 3 une vue en plan.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Le distributeur de primes 63 est commandé par le comp- tour horaire en combinaison avec le dispositif de pénalisation;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

  Mr. Marcel BILLON.

  Test device for automobile drivers which can be used as a game.

   The object of the present invention is a testing apparatus for drivers of motor cars which can be used as a game. The object of this apparatus is to check the degree of address of car drivers, to improve their reflexes. - before the obstacles of the road, to give the operation the illusion of driving a real motor car and, in general, to constitute a skill game device whose difficulties are controlled by the player. -even. In addition, the device makes it possible to organize real competitions among the Players.

   The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.

   Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section
Fig. 3 a plan view.

   Fig. 3 and 4 show the penalty device and the hour meter in combination.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   Fig. 5 shows on a larger scale the contact device triggering the penalty device.

   Fig. 6 and 7 show connection diagrams for triggering the different devices.

   The apparatus essentially comprises a subject such as a reduced scale model 13 of a motor car and a mobile strip 1 unwinding below this model 13.

   The car 13 can be moved transversely with respect to the moving belt 1 with the aid of an external steering wheel 22 operated by the operator, while the unwinding speed of the moving belt 1 is controlled by a pedal 28 at the way of the accelerator of a motor car.

   The mobile strip 1 carries representation means such as a sinuous line 110 visible from the outside of the box 12, these means representing a path.

   The operator seated in his seat 50 grasps the steering wheel 22
 EMI2.1
 while with his foot he presses the pedal 28 to a greater or lesser extent. trace) which gives him, by guiding the model 13 on the path / on the strip 1, the illusion of steering a real motor car.

   The apparatus is only put into operation after the insertion of a coin into a slot 51 provided for this purpose on the front of the box 12 of the apparatus as will be explained below. .

   The continuously unwinding movable strip 1 consists of an endless belt wound on a motor roller 6 and a guide roller 21, while a tension roller 22 forming a counterweight ensures the sufficient tension of this web in the visible part taking place under the small car 13.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   The motorized roller 6 is controlled by a set of pulleys 71 72 and belts 81 82 by the pulley 9 of the electric motor 10, this motor 10 is resiliently mounted by means of a spring 52 on the wall. of the case 12 which dampens vibrations and ensures particularly flexible transmission of the movement.

    The lever 26 of the rheostat 24. which controls the oirouit 261,262 of the motor 10 is actuated by a set of levers 26 / by the pedal 28; a return spring 29 sweeps all of these levers to their rest position in which the lever 25 is on the dead pad of the rheostat 24.

   A pin 30 passes through the shaft of the electric motor 10. Opposite this pin, the control lever 262 carries a plate 31 elastically articulated at 32.

   This suitably chosen sound board is intended to interfere with the circle of rotation of the ends of the pin 30 when the cap 28 of the lever 26 is lowered. The resulting sound imitates the sound of the pin 30. automobile engine exhaust,
The motor shaft 10 drives by the flexible cable 34, a speedometer 33.

   The subject such as a motor car 13 is freely engaged by a transverse channel 54 on a stretched wire 14, the ends of which are hooked on eyebolts 551 552 mounted at each end of an oscillating cross member 16; this cross member 16 which oscillates at its center on an axis 17 is actuated by a crank 56 wedged on the one hand on the axis 17 and on the other hand on a transmission cable 19.

   The cable 19 is wound on two guide pulleys 571 572 and hooks by its two ends on a finger 58

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 fixed radially on the steering shaft 21; damping members such as a spring 59 are interposed in the steering mechanism, which prevents any transmission of excessive forces on the car 13 during changes of direction. A lug 60 integral with the steering shaft 21 oscillates between two stops 611622 formed in the bearing 231 which limits the amplitude of the oscillations in one and the other direction.

     The apparatus is supplemented by a penalty device 62 and a bonus dispenser 63 which are described in detail below.

   The penalization device 62 shown in FIG. 9 is arranged in the case 12 of the device and comprises a movable indicator member 65 which moves for example in front of a graduation 66 visible from the outside.

   The movable indicator member 65 is mounted on a rack 67 sliding on two guide pins 681 682; the rack 67 is biased on the one hand by a return spring 69, and on the other hand controlled by a pawl 70 carried by the movable core 71 of an electromagnet 72. A counter rudder 73 with return spring 74 maintains the rack 67 as it advances.

   At each attraction of. core 71 by the coil 72, the rack moves by one tooth, so that the movable indicator member 65 moves by the same amount in front of the graduation 66 and indicates at all times the number of penalties committed.

   The hourly counter with prior payment 35 comprises, in the known manner, a winding bar 75 with an external operating button 76, this bar can only be pulled along fl after the introduction of a coin or a token. of% Their determined.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   When the coin has been introduced into the slot 51 of the device, a traction can be exerted along f1 on the winding bar 75, this winding bar in. drags with it the rack bar 77 which assures the winding of the clockwork movement 79.

   When the winding bar 75 is then released, a return spring 78 brings it back in the opposite direction to f1 while the rack bar gradually returns to its Initial position by the action of the clockwork movement 79.

   This hour meter controls the reset to zero of the penalty device. For this purpose, the counter pawl 73 retaining the rack 67 has a tail 80 connected by a chain 81 to the end of a swinging arm 82, the other end of which is connected to an extension 83 of the winding bar 75; a spring 84 is interposed between the extension 83 and the oscillating arm 82, which allows the winding bar 75 to perform its complete stroke following fl without exerting an exaggerated force on the counter-pawl 73,
The bonus dispenser 63 is controlled by the hourly counter in combination with the penalty device;

   this premium dispenser 63 of any known type comprises, for example, a drawer 85 which projects from the base of a chimney 86 in which the distributed objects are stacked, for example tickets constituting the premium; this slide is moved along f2 by the core 87 of an electromagnet when the coil 88 of this electromagnet is energized; a return member such as a lever 89 with a counterweight 90 returns the drawer to its rest position.

   The various electrical circuits of the device, the diagram of which is shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 are established as follows:

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

1 - Start and stop circuits controlled by the hour meter.
The hour meter controls a switch 93 with a double handle 911 912, the handle 911 is actuated by the winding bar 75 which carries for this purpose two stops 921 922; when the winding bar is pulled along f1, the stopper 921 moves the lever 911 along f4, which closes the switch 93, when the winding bar returns in the opposite direction of fl, the stopper 922 returns the lever 911 in its initial position but switch 93 remains in its circuit closing position.

   The handle 912 of the switch 93 is actuated by the rack bar 77, so that, when this bar returns to its initial rest position, the boss 941 of this rack engages with the handle 912 and returns it to its rest position to open switch 93.

   As can be seen in the diagram of FIG. 6, the switch 93 which is closed at the start of a game and opens at the end of the playing time, controls the general current distribution circuit to the components of the apparatus for a controlled determined period. by the hour meter.

   The circuit of the electric motor 10 is closed by: conductor 101, switch 93, conductor 108, rheostat 24 and line 103.

   The circuit of a winding lamp 105 is closed by: conductor 101, switch 93, conductor 106, return conductor 107 and line 103.

   2 - Circuits of the penalisation device -
The coil of the electromagnet 72 of the penalization device is oontr81ée by the penalization contacts carried by the movable strip 1.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 to this effect, fig. 5 and 2, the strip 1 constituted by a canvas of green color, for example on which is painted in white a sinuous path 110, presents, in selected locations, obstacles 1111 1112 1113 which, when the car 13 hits them, establish an electrical contact.

   uaque obstacle is constituted by a figurine 112 made of flexible material such as rubber, this figurine is fixed to a metal strip 113 which protrudes sufficiently above the canvas 1 so as to rub against a contact 114 carried by the car 13 or with the same metallic mass of this car; the metal strip 113 engages in a notch 115 formed in the fabric 1 and comes into electrical contact with a piece of metal fabric 116 suitably fixed below the fabric 1.

   Over the entire width of the canvas 1 extends a conductive roller 117 which is in electrical contact with the pieces of metal mesh 116 as they pass, and which is carried by the axis 17, so as to follow the movements of the oscillating cross member 16.

   This roller thus ensures a transverse pressure of the canvas 1 on the subject 13, whatever the lateral movements of the subject 13,
When the car 13 engages with an obstacle, the circuit of the electromagnet 72 is closed, which marks a penalty, in fact:
The ground of the car 13 is electrically connected by the steering wire 14 which is itself connected by a flexible wire 180 to the current distribution conductor 107.

   On the other hand, a wiper 181 slides on the conductive roller 117; this wiper is connected by a flexible wire 122 to the conductor 124 going to the coil 72.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

   Consequently, the circuit closes as follows: conductor 101, switch 93, conductor 123, electromagnet coil 72. conductor 124, flexible wire 122, wiper 121, conductive roller 117, wire mesh 116, lamella 113, car ground 13, steering wire 14, flexible wire 120, conductor 107 and line 103.

   A bell 130 is advantageously mounted in parallel on the circuit of the electromagnet 72 so that each time the circuit is closed, the bell 130 sounds and warns the operator of the fault committed.

   3 - Circuit controlling the premium distributor-
This circuit is controlled both by the hour meter 35 and by the penalty device; to this end, the bosses 941 and 942 of the rack bar 77 engage in the extreme positions of this bar with an oscillating contact 135 which then applies to a fixed pad 136.

   On the other hand, the rack 67 of the movable indicator member 65 of the penalization device carries a movable contact 137 which rubs against a. fixed contact 138; As the rack progresses, the mobile contact moves along f5 and after a certain travel of the rack, escapes the fixed contact 138.

   Below a certain number of penalties (oinq for example), the mobile contact 137 remains in engagement with the fixed contact 138, while above this number of penalties, the mobile contact 137 escapes. this fixed contact 138.

   To modify at will the number of admissible penalties, the movable contact 137 is mounted on a slider 140 which is moved on the rack 67 and which is fixed at the chosen location using a via .

   At the start of a game, the movable contact 137 is applied to the fixed contact 138; when the operator pulls the winding bar 75 of the hour meter, the boss 941 of the rack bar 77 actuates the rocker contact 135, 136, at this time the premium distributor circuit is closed as follows:

   conductor 101, switch 93, conductor 102, holder 145, stud 136, oscillating contact 135 136, moving contact 137, fixed contact 138, conductor 146, electro coil 88, conductor 147, conductor 107 and line 103,
At the end of the playing time, the second boss 942 of the rack bar 77 closes the contact 136, 137 but the circuit of the electromagnet 88 can only be closed on the condition that the movable contact 137 of the device penalty is always engaged with the fixed contact 138.
