Brevet d'invention

Patent
The search for lightness in bicycle parts, in particular the crankshaft has led to perforate the latter, however this perforation can only be done through a hole of small diameter if the om wants to keep the material necessary for the key support locations.
To obviate this drawback, it appeared necessary to produce a hollow and internally profiled crank axle, this new application gives the crank axle a logical resistant section over its entire length and this in view of the forces that must be supported by the crankshaft. axis.

mple application of the invention:
Figure I shows a crank axle after roughing.
L2 figure 2 shows a crank axle after roughing but drilled,
Figure 3 shows a drilled and grooved bottom bracket
Figure 4 shows a finished crank axle.
This hollow and internally profiled bottom bracket axle is essentially characterized by its design and manufacture, which are carried out on the following bases: I / with a raw axle a and which will be forged, ie forged by forming at each end a stronger part b, following a profile determined so as to have the material necessary for the upsetting during forging.
2 / after the forging operation the raw axis a is then drilled to a fairly large diameter in c so as to leave only a small thickness in the central part of the axis a; this central part in fact only has to undergo the torsional force.
3 / the axis a which has just been drilled is then stamped at each end, the pushing back of the metal therefore closes the previous bore c and we then have a hole of small diameter f which is linked longitudinally and circularly with a large diameter c by a conical progressive section e

40 / the axis e, is then machined externally in the usual way.

It emerges from this description that the invention is aimed at a new industrial product and the different phases of its mode of manufacture,
It is easy to admit that this new realization gives: I / a light axis with a section or! was sufficient @ in the central part having to resist only a torsional force.
2 / a reinforced axis with a section or. maximum in the ends subjected to the combined bending and torsion forces 3 / an axis or the bearing surface of the keying g is carried out over a large thickness and not on a canvas.
