PATENT OF INVENTION SIGNALING DEVICE (OVEN (BIKES)) MOTORCYCLES AND SIMILAR VEHICLES.
The present invention relates to a signaling or steering device intended for bicycles, motorcycles and similar vehicles. This device has the advantage of a very simple construction, of easy mounting on the handlebars of the bicycle or of the motorcycle and easy to operate without the driver having to let go of the handlebars.
This device essentially comprises a steering rod pivotally mounted on the handlebars so that its operation by the driver, in order to bring it into the active position, automatically causes the closing of a circuit supplying a light signal carried by said rod.
The drawing appended to this specification shows by way of example the application on a bicycle handlebar of two signaling devices (right and left) in accordance with the invention.
As shown in the drawing, the apparatus comprises a hollow rod I capable of pivoting in 2 on a caliper 3 surmounting a screw clamping ring 4 which is fixed on the handlebars 5 of the bicycle, preferably a little in front of each of the handles The pivot center 2 divides the rod I into two parts, one of which is very short, la, can easily be actuated by the driver when changing direction, without having to abandon the

gui don.The other part Ib of the rod I carries at its end a signaling lamp 6 screwed in a known manner and supplied by an electricity source preferably constituted by the bicycle lighting magneto.
The internal contact of the lamp 6 is formed by a wire 7 which terminates externally at one end 8a of an arm 8 normally passing through the hollow rod Ib near the pivot 2. On the other hand the bracket 3 carries two horizontal metal blades 9a, 9b, isolated from each other, and one of which 9a is connected to the lighting circuit by the conductive wire 10.
In the drawing, the two steering rods I are shown horizontally in solid lines in the inactive position. If the cyclist wants to turn to the right, for example, he presses, without his hand leaving the handlebars, on the small arm Ia of the rod I on the right, so as to make it tilt and bring it into the position shown in dotted lines. Rod I, which previously rested on blade 9b by arm 8b, now bears on blade 9a by arm 8a. But the arm 8a as soon as it comes into contact with the blade 9a closes the current and the lamp 6, the bulb of which is tinted red, lights up indicating in the dark the direction that the cyclist is going to take.
By acting in the opposite direction, the cyclist will bring the steering rod inwards in the primitive position at the same time as the separation of the arm 8a from the blade 9a opens the current and turns off the lamp 6.
It is understood that the construction of this apparatus could be modified without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the following claims.
