@
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"IMPROVEMENTS IN MECKNISMS OF ALESSIVER MACHINES"
Laundry machines are known in which the laundry in the tub is stirred with the aid of an element called a "doll". preferably in the form of a plate or bell, integral with a rod or shaft drives in an upward and downward movement, as well as in a transverse oscillatory movement.
Until now, the training of the doll, in these different movements, required the use of relatively complicated, cumbersome and subject to wear mechanisms. In addition, their cost price was high owing to the great weight of material necessary for the manufacture of the parts involved in these mechanisms, the present invention relates to a mechanism of this type, of simple and inexpensive construction, of bulk. reduced and little subject to wear.
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
For this purpose and according to the invention, the transverse oscillation movement of the tailstock shaft is communicated to it, during its longitudinal reciprocation, by control means integral with said shaft and cooperating with a inclined guide arranged next to this shaft.
also according to the invention, the longitudinal back and forth movement of the porto-doll ar'ore is imparted to the latter by a crank August the button engages a horizontal groove formed in an element, preferably in the form of a sector , wedged on said shaft, the guide means intended to impart the oscillatory movement to this shaft being able to be carried by said sector.
On the other hand, in order to allow, for the drive of the mechanism, the use of a flywheel pulley, aa reduced diameter, which can be arranged completely above the cover of the tank, the movement of said pulley-flywheel is transmitted to the drive crank of the tailstock shaft via reduction gears.
By way of illustration, a preferred embodiment of the subject of the invention is described below with reference to the appended drawing, in which:
Fig.1 is a side elevational view of the drive mechanism of the doll of a washing machine, made according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view in partial section taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 are end views, in the direction of arrows 3-3, showing different positions occupied by the actuator of the tailstock shaft, certain parts of the mechanisms having been deleted for clarity of the drawing .
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
As shown in Fig. 1, the machine mechanism is driven by a flywheel pulley 5, which in turn is driven by any power source, for example an electric motor (not shown). The shaft 6 of the flywheel pulley 5 is supported in the bosses 7 and 8, forming bearings, of the frame 9 to the mechanism. On the shaft portion between the bearings 7 and 8 is mounted a toothed wheel 10 meshing with another toothed wheel II carried by a shaft 12 supported @ in bearings 13 and 14 of the frame 9. These two gears are protected by two plates 15 arranged on either side of the frame and fixed to the latter.
The shaft 12 extends beyond the bearing 14 and carries, wedged on it, the arm 16 of a raanivella aont the button 17 engages, slidingly, the lateral groove 18 ci 'a member 19, in sector volume, wedged on the tiga or shaft 20 carrying at its lower end the headstock or bell 21 and guided vertically in bosses 22 and 25 of the frame 9, which is fixed, by any suitable means, to the cover 24 of the tank of the machine to be washed.
The member 19 in the form of a sector is provided, preferably at its end opposite the groove 18, with two brochas 25 engaging, on either side, a fixed inclined rod 26 also supported by the frame 9.
Considering the mechanism which has just been described, it will be understood that the rotation imparted to the crank 16 by the flywheel pulley 5 and the reduction gears 10 and 11, results in an upward and downward movement of the sector 19 and of the shaft 20 on which it is wedged.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the sector 19 is in permanent engagement, via the pins 25, with the fixed inclined rod 26. In these circumstances,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
it is also understood that the movement of the pins 25 on the inclined rod 26, acting as a guide, has the effect of imparting to the sector 19, during its upward and downward movement, a transverse oscillatory movement. The sector 19 being wedged on the tailstock shaft 20 with the aid of the fixing bolt 27, this oscillatory movement is therefore also transmitted to said shaft and to said tailstock.
Figs. 3 and 4 show the position occupied by the sector 19 at its top and bottom dead centers respectively, while Fig. 2 shows the position it occupies at the halfway point.
In order to allow the easy movement of the pins 25 on the inclined rod 26, said pins are preferably placed in a plane perpendicular to the guiaage rod, so as to rule out any possibility of jamming of these pins.
In addition, in order to prevent rapid wear of the crank button 17 by friction in the groove 18, a bush, made of bronze or other suitable metal, is mounted for free rotation around this button so as to allow rolling, of this socket on the contact faces 18a and 18b of the groove 18.
It should also be noted that the transmission system described and shown makes it possible to produce a simple, light, robust and compact mechanism and that thanks to the presence of the reduction gears 10 and 11, it is possible to use a flywheel pulley 5 of reduced diameter which can be arranged above the cover 24 of the tank. As a result, the assembly of the entire mechanism, including the flywheel pulley, can be done on the cover of the tank by means of four screws or the like.
This particular arrangement of the flywheel pulley 5 reduces the possibilities of accidents, all the more so as the usual launching handle, usually provided on an arm of the flywheel, can be omitted, the starting of the drive motor, which is necessary when it comes to an electric motor
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
single-phase, obtainable by means of a crank which attaches the flywheel shaft by means of a "wolf tooth * device," which automatically releases when the engine is started.
Finally, it must be understood that if the inclined rod 26 is shown fixed in the drawing, the latter could nevertheless be mounted at an adjustable inclination, by any suitable means, with a view to possibly being able to modify the amplitude of oscillation. tion of sector 19 and therefore of the doll.
RESUMA.
The invention relates to a drive mechanism for the tailstock shaft of laundry machines in which said tailstock shaft is driven in an up and down movement, as well as in a transverse oscillatory movement, said mechanism the following characteristics, taken separately or in combination:
1) The transverse oscillatory movement of the doll carrier shaft is communicated to it, during its longitudinal reciprocation, by control means integral with said shaft and cooperating with an inclined guide arranged next to this arore.
2) The longitudinal back and forth movement of the tailstock shaft is imparted to it by a crank whose button engages a horizontal groove forced into an element, preferably in the form of a sector, wedged on said tree.
3) The guide wires intended to impart the oscillatory movement to the tailstock shaft can be carried by the calo sector on this shaft.
