Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 EMI3.1

 EMI3.13
fig. 1.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 EMI4.1

 EMI4.3

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 EMI5.1

  AGRICULTURAL SOIL TILLER.

The invention relates to devices for working the soil, of the type in which the tool (plow, harrow or the like) is placed on a running frame, preferably on the running frame of a tractor. , so that it can be lifted by hand, from the working position, that is to say from the position where it is in contact with the ground.

With known devices of this type used for working the ground, the extraction of the tool from the ground is associated with a considerable physical effort on the part of the operator of the device. This drawback is serious especially because the extraction of the tool out of the ground must be done at the end of the stroke, therefore shortly before the tool is turned over, that is to say at a moment when the driver of the device is already occupied anyway by the maneuver which consists in turning the tractor around.

This is the reason why it is necessary; with most of the known devices, to stop the latter to extract the tool from the ground.

An attempt has been made to facilitate the extraction of the tool from the ground by means of devices which roll on the ground or are supported on it. However, these devices operate in an uncertain manner and have not given satisfaction in the long run. Finally, mechanical control extraction devices are known which are controlled from the source of motive force of the tractor. However, additional mechanical devices of this kind are relatively delicate and they considerably increase the price of the tractor.

The present invention solves the problem of providing an apparatus for working the soil with a simple and efficient device, which is likewise easy to handle, for extracting the tool from the ground, by using a force accumulator intended to be operated by hand, in which the force required in whole or in part to extract the implement from the ground can be accumulated by means of a lever to be operated at

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

hand while the machine is in operation, independently of the work produced by the tool and without exerting any influence on the action of the soil working tool.

In order to accumulate the force which causes or facilitates the extraction of the working tool from the soil, a spring is preferably used according to the present invention, which has been advantageously loaded beforehand, and which can be armed. by means of a lever operated by hand, possibly with the interposition of a suitable reduction transmission, and which is coupled, in the armed state, with a hand lever acting on the tool to be extracted, so that the spring extracts the tool from the ground when the said hand lever is abandoned by it, but disengages automatically from the working tool of the ground as soon as the latter has been ex - ground line.

The invention is also applicable to tool changing devices, for example to devices which are provided with two tools which are used alternately depending on the direction of travel. In this case, the invention preferably does not use , only one force accumulator which is coupled alternately with one or other of the soil working tools, to extract it from the working position.

Other important characteristics of the invention will emerge from the description which follows and relating to various embodiments of the invention which are shown in the accompanying drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a side view of part of a soil working apparatus constructed in accordance with the present invention, and having, as a tool, plowshares.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same apparatus.

Fig. 3 is a view of an embodiment for plows with two coulters.

Fig. 4 is a view showing part of the device of FIG. 1 seen in a different direction.

Fig. 5 'is a sectional view on a larger scale along V-V of FIG.

   2.

Fig. 6 is an enlarged view of another embodiment of the tension device with ratchet control.

Fig. 7 is a plan view of the device of FIG. 6.

In the representation according to figs. 1 and 2, the undercarriage or the tractor belonging to the device has not been shown in detail. The tractor can be of any type. At its rear end, designated by 1 ', is provided an extension in the form of a console 1 on which are arranged the elements serving to extract the working tool from the ground.

The console 1 carries a fixed axis 2 on which two uprights 2 are arranged so as to be able to pivot and undergo a translational movement.

On each of these uprights 3, a sleeve .2. is arranged so as to be able to slide and turn, and each of these sleeves is provided with a pair of support rollers 6, At the top, each upright 1 carries a collar from which an arm in door-to-door leaves laterally. false 7, and on which is provided a protruding part 8 in the form of an eyelet. Through the opening of the protruding part passes a threaded rod 10 which engages the sleeve 5 and serves, in combination with the nut 2 provided on the handle, to the depth adjustment of the plow.

The free end of a yoke 11 rests on the rollers 6, the branches of which are connected at the end by a pin 12 which embraces the sleeve 5.

At the other end of the yoke 11 is fixed a part of its connection 13 in the form of a gutter or bowl in which the free end of the tool holder 14 is held with a limited degree of freedom. As we

seen in particular in fig. 5, the openings M- 'provided in the. 1J bowl piece. for the fixing bolts 5. have a diameter and shape such that the tool holders 14 can be fixed in different
 EMI3.2
your angular positions on the cup part 13.

To adjust the tool holder, for example to give the plow mounted on it the incline
 EMI3.3
its lateral optionally necessary, the bolts 15 are loosened, and, by rotating the tool holder 14 around its longitudinal axis, the latter is made to pass into the correct position, following which the bolts 15 are fully tightened.
 EMI3.4

On a lower extension of part 1g. in the form of a bowl is fixed, by means of a hinge pin 17 for each of its elements, a pair of struts 16 which, at the other end, are arranged by means of a universal joint 18 against the upright 3. or its bearing which surrounds the axis 2.

In addition, the tractor support bracket 1 is provided with
 EMI3.5
each side, a bearing 1g ,. These bearings carry an axis 20 and each an arched part 21 which is provided with notches 22 and 22 '. On each of the pieces in
 EMI3.6
arc 21 is guided an adjustment lever 23. mounted on the axis 20 so as to be able to pivot and which carries a secondary lever 2 / at the top. with the aid of which the latch 25 pushed by this spring and situated in the region of the notches 22 and 22 'can be withdrawn in the opposite direction to the action of its spring.

Below the circular arc piece 21 is provided on each adjustment lever 23 a second locking rod 26 subjected to the pressure of a spring, which can be slid down in the opposite direction of the ac - tion of its spring and which protrudes laterally over the body of the lever 23.
 EMI3.7

The adjustment lever 23 is then connected by the rod 2 of adjustable length to a sleeve 30 provided on the arm 1 of the corresponding upright 2. As can be seen without difficulty in FIG. 1, we can, in
 EMI3.8
rotating lever 2 'in a given direction, which is counterclockwise, and after unlocking lock 2 ±, pivot upwards around axis 2 the tool holder 14 with the tool attached to it.
 EMI3.9

The rod 29 then drives the upright 3 on which the levers 11 are held by the pins 12, and the struts 16 support the tool holder during this time. In the lifting position, the
 EMI3.10
lever 22 is maintained by the fact that its latch 12 engages in the notch 22 'of the corresponding circular arc piece 21. The operation of the lever 22. is the same for the two tool holders but independent for each of them, so that each tool holder 14 can be raised or lowered as required, with the working tool. of the ground attached to it.
 EMI3.11

In the region of the latch 26, there is provided at the end of the arched piece 21 a heel 28 which is fixed in an adjustable manner on the arched piece 21. by means of a gusset and a locking screw. 27 and a corresponding buttonhole, in order to be able to focus the device.

On the axis 20 pivots next to each of the levers 23 a lever
 EMI3.12
21 and 31 ', of which the one designated by It is executed in the form of a hand lever and is so arranged that it can be conveniently reached by the driver seated on the tractor seat, as seen in the
 EMI3.13
fig. 1. The two levers 11 and 21 'are made integral with one another by a cross member 2, so that they move in the same direction when the lever 31 is actuated. On the side of each of the levers 21 and 31 'is fixed a heel 33, which is within range of the lock 26 of the adjustment lever go. corresponding.

Around the axis 20 is disposed a coil spring 34 which exerts its action at one of the ends against the connecting cross member 32 and

screw 3. The washer 21 serves to give the spring 24 an initial tension, and for this purpose we have made several holes in the washer 3. (see in particular fig. 6), in order to be able to fix the washer II by means of the screw 3 in different positions on the bearing bracket 19.

The device described operates as follows: When the lever 31 is withdrawn from the position which corresponds
 EMI4.2
to the position indicated in dotted lines for lever 21 '(fig. l), so that it occupies the end-of-travel position indicated in fig. 1, the spring 14 is armed more. In the position according to fig. l, the lever 21 is held by the latch 6Q, which acts on the heel 33, of the lever lâ. If it is then necessary to extract the working tool or its tool holder 14 from the working position shown in FIG. 1, we activate the little le-

sink 24 mounted on the adjustment lever 23 ,. The adjustment lever is then free and can be returned by pivoting to the left, under the action of the spring 3. which acts on the lever 23, via the lever II. while lifting the tool holder 3.

At the end of this pivoting movement, the lock 2 comes within reach of the heel 28, and, as a result, the connection between the tension lever 21 'and the adjustment lever 23 is destroyed, because the lock 26 then releases the heel 33. from the tension lever 21 The other adjustment lever 23 cooperates in a corresponding manner with the shorter lever 3 ′.

When the tool holder must then be returned to the working position, the small lever 24 of the adjustment lever 23 is again actuated. The lock 25 then comes out of the notch 22 'made in the arched part 21. circle and the adjustment lever pivots back, while lowering the tool holder 14, into the working position shown in fig. 1, in which it is held by the latch 25 which engages in the notch 22 of the circular arc piece 21.

During the working stroke of the device, the operator of the device can then return the tension lever 31 to the position of
 EMI4.4
tension (fig. 1), and it then accumulates, by the tension of the spring 3 .. of the force which is subsequently used for the extraction of the tool holder 14.

Depending on whether the left or right adjustment lever 23 or the left or right tool holder 14 is in the working position, it is either the lever 31 or the lever 31 '. which is coupled with the corresponding adjustment lever 23, as shown in FIG. 2.

The spring 24 can be executed so that it accumulates all of the force necessary for the extraction of the tool, or only a part of this force. In the latter case, the operator of the device must then, - by exerting pressure on the adjustment lever, help to release the tool holder or the tool.

In the embodiment according to Figs 1 and 2 is provided on the guide sleeve 5 of each upright 3 a projecting element 'which em-

fishing lever 11 to go up when lifting the tool holder.

If several tools are arranged on the tool holder 34, the protruding elements Il can be omitted so that the yokes 11 rise, when the tool holder is extracted or raised, and that they occupy the position shown in fig. 3. Fig. 3 shows, on the other hand, the position occupied by the different parts of the device when the tool holder is raised to extract it.

To facilitate in heavy equipment, especially in

plows with several plowshares, the arming of the spring 3 for accumulating the force, one can preferably use the ratchet control shown in figs 6 and 7.-The lever 31 (pin 1) serving to arm the spring extraction is replaced in this case by a short lever 31 "which is executed like the short lever Il- *. On the support bracket 1 is arranged at
 EMI4.7
side of the bearing bracket 12. a bearing bracket 32 on which the hand lever 3; swivels by means of an axis 3.

In the region of the handle, the

lever l2. has a small lever 4 ± which acts, under the action of springs and 'working in traction, on studs 43 and 41' which pass through slots made in the lever. 2.2 and on which the racks 2 bear. and .2'a On the lever 33, are arranged, in addition, pawls 46, and 42, which are disposed in the region of the tension of the racks 42 and 4a * The racks are fixed in a hinged manner on the lever .2.1 "using the pins and 42 ..

The device shown in FIG. 6 operates in such a way that, by pulling the lever 40 towards you, the two racks can be brought within range of the locking pawls. If the lever 22 is then moved in one direction and the other, indicated by the arrow 50,
 EMI5.2
the lever 31 "pivots, under the action of the racks 42, and 42-1., step by step in a clockwise direction, by charging the spring 3, -. This pivoting movement lasts until that the heel II which is on the lever 31 'comes within reach of the latch 26 of the adjustment lever 3, which has the effect that the lever 31 "is kept fixed. In this way, the force necessary for the extraction of the tool is accumulated in the spring 34.

The arming of the spring 34 can be carried out using the device. positive shown in Figs 6 and 7 with a force from the driver of the device which is much smaller than with the device according to Figs 1 and 2.

It is easy to see that the device according to FIGS. 6 and 7 can be used even with devices which are provided, according to FIG. 1, two tool holders coming into action alternately.

Gum the yokes II of the tool holder rest on the rollers 4 in a freely movable way, the plows or other tools have a stable and assured step and a penetrating effect of a constant quality is obtained, the depth of penetration into the floor being easily adjustable.

The working width can be adjusted by moving the uprights 2, the transverse movement of which on the axis 2 can be limited by adjustable rings or the like, as can the lateral inclination of the plow.

via the connection piece L3. bowl-shaped.

The extraction device can also be constructed in the manner of a cable drum, as is used, for example, in lifting devices. In this case, the force accumulator spring would act on the cable winding drum. The cable winding drum can have several steps, in order to be able to extract the working tools from the ground by making them make different races. The multiplier transmission is provided, in this case, with advantage, with a spur gear on which the pawls act.

Instead of a spring, it is also possible to use, according to the present invention, for the accumulation of the force, an air mattress held in a cylinder provided with a movable piston. The pressure of the air in the cylinder is then increased during the working stroke by means of hand levers in a manner analogous to that of which the spring in the embodiment shown is cocked.
