<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

STRETCHING BENCH EQUIPPED WITH A TRACTION CHAIN ALWAYS ROTATING IN
THE SAME WAY.
Drawing benches are frequently constructed in such a way that, at the entrance to the drawing bench, after tensioning the pointed end of the material to be drawn introduced through the drawing die into the clamps arranged on the stretching carriage, the pulling carriage driver hooks onto the pull chain rotating constantly in the same direction and unhooks when the stretching operation is finished, after which the drawing carriage stretching returns to its starting position, either by pulling a cable or by rolling backward on the inclined stretching bench table.
To avoid the loss of time resulting in this case from the return of the

to already'- -construct ,, gzunii drawing benches of ç7euxd.dminiere that each time one of these carriages coupled to the chain moves in the direction of stretching, the other carriage decoupled from the chain 'returns by a lateral route to its starting position in the manner previously described. is lying. In this case, it is necessary, in addition to the coupling and uncoupling of the stretching carriage9 to move it on the side track, which necessarily results in complicated constructions. In addition, the drawing carriages must first be accelerated, then braked, and be reversed in the direction of their movement, which requires a corresponding consumption of power.
In other stretching benches, the stretching carriages are permanently coupled to the 'traction chain, but in this case' the movement of the chain is reversed to return the carriage to its starting position. These draw benches have already been built with two carriages running in opposite directions on separate tracks. In this case, the coupling and uncoupling of the carriages is eliminated, but
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
for this purpose the complete control and naturally also the carriages themselves must be reversed in the direction of their movement, which causes: - again complications and great consumption of power.
But in each case, stretching benches of this kind, constructed ... in the form of "double benches", must have corresponding large dimensions, which entails an expenditure of material and of space which is not. negligible.
On the other hand, the invention indicates an extraordinarily simple means of avoiding the drawbacks mentioned above. According to the invention, in fact a drawing bench is constructed provided with a traction chain always rotating in the same direction, comprising two or more drawing carriages continuously coupled to the traction chain, carrying the pressure clamps. - rage and turning on a trajectory closed on itself.
Any disconnection or reversal of control is thus eliminated and the bed does not need to be built stronger than a simple draw bed.
In order to be able to terminate by means of short pointed ends of the drawing material and to keep the bed as short as possible, it is advantageous in this case that the drawing clamp, for example by its door-to-door arrangement false on the stretch carriage, follows a flat curved path immediately ahead of the stretch die, and flexes on the stretch line along a short curve.
A drawing bench according to the invention is shown schematically in its essential parts in the drawing, by way of example of construction, provided with two drawing carriages and in an elevational view (partly in elevation). chopped off)..
The traction chain 3 on which: the two stretching carriages 4 are each fixed by means of two lugs 5, moves on the control chain wheel I, set in rotation for example by an electric motor and on guide wheels 2.
Each drawing carriage 4 is guided by a roller 6 which, during the drawing stroke, rolls on the upper surface of the frame of the drawing bench 8 forming a track 7, and all during its return stroke on the lower return channel 9.
The drawing iron 10 is attached to the drawing iron holder 11.
On the insertion side of the drawing bench, the traction chain 3 guides the drawing carriage 4 in the positions drawn in phantom from the return path to the drawing line. While the ears 5 of the stretching carriage thus describe a regular arc of a circle throughout the operation, the stretching clamp 12, due to its particular position, for example in cantilever on the carriage of stretching, first moves along a flattened path substantially in the form of an arc of a circle shortly before the stretching die 10 and then rotates in a bend in a short curve and with a slight forward movement towards the horizontal drawing line:
While the grippers 12 follow the described movement, its open stretching jaws rise on both sides of the stretched tip end of the stretching rod 13 protruding from the stretching die, circling it. to a certain extent, so that when at this moment the clamps are closed by the service worker by operating the lever 14. they grip the rod and the stretching operation begins.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
As soon as the rod subjected to the stretching operation passes through the stretching die, the stretch resistance maintains them. clamps closed ceases, the clamps open by the action of a spring or the like, and the stretching charioy and rod separate again. The rod is then withdrawn from the bench.
The draw carriage swings down at the end of the draw bench around the chain wheel 1, on the return track 9, thereby returns to the inlet end of the draw bench, and the operation described above is repeated.
By bringing, as stated above, the grippers to the drawing die in a flat curve and then rotating the grippers on the drawing line in a short curve, it is achieved that a short tip of the pu shank of the pipe is sufficient, unlike conditions resulting from a regular circular path, which requires a greater distance between the support of the drawing die and the pivot point of the grippers on the line d 'stretching,' and therefore a longer pointed end of the material to be stretched.
Since, since at least two stretching carriages are used on the chain, during the stretching stroke of one of the carriages, the other follows its return stroke, there is no interruption of the stretching work. - rage.
