<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

THREAD GUIDE DEVICE FOR SPINNING AND TWISTING OR SIMILAR TRADE AND TRADE EQUIPPED WITH THE SAID DEVICE.
We know that in the loop spinning and twisting looms. the output speed and, therefore, the production per spindle are limited by the shape and size of what is called the "ball", that is to say of the figure that the wire draws in the space when it comes to wrap around the loop after leaving the point where it is pinched on the stretching shaft.
If there was no way to limit the "ball" and if the wire, not being guided by any organ, could pass freely from the draw shaft to the loop, we would generate such a large "ball" that the output of such a designed machine would be extremely low. This is schematically represented in FIG. 1 of the drawings attached to the present description.
In contrast, the extreme case, ideal but impractical, would be that indicated in Figure 2 where a long tube coinciding with the axis of the ring would force the wire to travel exactly this axis. Between these two borderline cases fit all the machines, old and modern, which try, by various methods, to bring the wire closer to the ideal position in figure 2.
Among the various systems used hitherto to limit the transverse dimensions of the "balloon", it should be noted the arrangement of a pigtail yarn guide placed immediately after the stretching cylinder. as low as the tip of the spindle allows, so that by reducing its height, the transverse dimensions of the ball itself are automatically reduced as shown in Figure 3.
The system most often adopted in the past to limit the dimensions of the "balloon" consisted in limiting the diameter of the ring. In cotton spinning machines, for example, we have reached a minimum diameter of 25 m / m and a maximum diameter of 45 m / m, or an average of 35 m / m.
For wool., Starting from minimum diameters of 35 m / m,.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
maximum of 55 m / m, or 45 m / m on average.
The requirements of modern spinning require:. However - manufacturers to adopt heavy spools which provide multiple advantages and among others: reduction in downtime due to stopping spinning and twisting; Noticeable increase in the efficiency of the doubler as well as the spinning wheels; possibility of working directly on warping or twisting without having to go through the doubler or spinning wheel first; reduction of knots occurring in the threads, hence less breakage of threads at the time of weaving and, consequently, an increase in the number of beats in the looms; Less pinging and reworking in the pieces of fabric, resulting in less labor costs for fixing the threads and greater value of the fabrics themselves.
We are not talking about the many other advantages which are obtained in terms of cost and yarn quality when constructing a machine for spinning and twisting into large spools.
But a large coil can only be obtained by simultaneously increasing the diameter of the ring and the height of the spindle. To increase the height of the spindle, manufacturers have used the fully or partially movable spindle bed. On the other hand, the increase in the diameter of the ring leads, in practice, to a reduction in the output speed. We thus arrive at the absurd result that machines with a large coil, that is to say with a large diameter ring, work with an output speed lower than that of machines with a small diameter ring.
As a result, the lower cost benefits resulting from a greater weight of yarn on the spool are partially offset by the lower output speed resulting in lower yarn production per spindle per hour.
Another system commonly used to limit the transverse dimensions of the "balloon" consists in placing an "anti-balloon" ring whose internal diameter is equal to the internal diameter of the ring and which is fixed in an invariable position above the door bench. -rings. In this case, the "balloon" draws in space a sort of 8 which limits its transverse dimensions and consequently improves the exit speed. This device is shown schematically in Figure 4.
However, since the spool must be able to be extracted from the spindle when it is fully loaded, the diameter of the "anti-balloon" ring cannot be smaller than that of the guide ring on which the slider loop moves.
The present invention relates to a device using a pigtail wire guide placed in a determined position or provided with a particular movement and further comprising an "anti-balloon" ring, the diameter of which is n. 'is in no way related to the diameter of the guide ring on which the cursor moves.
The device according to the invention is characterized by a pigtail thread guide rigidly fixed above the pins and by a second lower thread guide identical to the first but of smaller diameter than the ring, that is to say - say generally of a diameter equal to half that of this ring, this lower thread guide being rigidly mounted on the ring-holder bench, arrangement making it possible to maintain for the ring a large diameter corresponding to a large coil diameter finished, while considerably reducing the width of the balloon formed by the yarn, which allows high winding speeds.
The invention further extends to a spinning and twisting machine characterized by a yarn guide device according to that described above or similar device.
Other details and features will emerge more clearly from some embodiments of the present invention given below, by way of non-limiting example and with reference to Figures 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the accompanying drawings.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 5 schematically represents a device established according to the invention and applied to spinning machines with fixed spindles. In this case, the device consists of a pigtail thread guide fixed in the lowest possible position with respect to the tip of the spindle, so that the thread touches the end of the spindle. small tube, and by a second lower thread guide b whose diameter is slightly greater than the maximum diameter of the small tube, so as to leave between the latter and the internal face of the thread guide a gap just sufficient to leave, pass the thread '.
This yarn guide b is mounted fixed relative to the ring and at a distance h from the latter equal to the rise of the cam.
The thread guide therefore rises progressively as the ring carrier rises itself, since it is rigidly connected to the latter. The whole series of different lower thread guides b¯ is mounted on an axis of rotation c arranged in the median horizontal plane of the thread guides themselves.
When the weighing is finished and the spool is fully loaded, it suffices to rotate the axis c of the lower thread guide b by 90 by a movement analogous to that of the upper thread guide a. as shown in FIG. 6, so that the full reel can be extracted freely.
FIG. 7 also shows a device established according to the invention, but applicable to spinning machines with fully movable spindle bed. In this case, the upper pigtail wire guide e is mounted rigidly fixed to the spindle bed by means of a vertical rod f. On the contrary, the lower thread guide g remains rigidly fixed to the fixed ring-holder bench during the entire lift, and at a distance from the ring equal to the rise of the cam. The diameter of these wire guides is only a few millimeters greater than the maximum diameter of the small tube. During the filling of the spool, this thread guide works as in the case where the spindle bench is fixed.
All the lower thread guides g, are mounted on a horizontal rod m supported by a series of vertical rods n as shown for pigtail thread guides. When the lifting is to be carried out, by means of a suitable mechanism the group of lower thread guides is connected to the spindle holder bench so that these thread guides are lifted at the same time as the latter. When lifting is completed, the lower and upper thread guide groups are folded up 90 degrees (Figure 8) and the spool can thus be easily removed.
We then put new small tubes on the pins, we unhook the mechanism connecting the group of lower wire guides to the pin holder bench and we bring this group to the classic position (figure 7), that is to say above the ring holder bench and at a distance from the rings equal to the rise of the cam.
The advantages resulting from the arrangement described above are obvious. Indeed, according to the usual standards of construction, there is an average ratio of 1 / 2.5 between the maximum diameter of the small tube which covers the pin and the internal diameter of the ring. By leaving a suitable gap between the "anti-balloon" ring and the maximum diameter of the small tube, a ratio of 1 to 2 can be established between the diameter of this "anti-balloon" ring and that of the tube. ring, that is to say that the "anti-balloon" will have a diameter half that of the ring on which the cursor moves.
Example. Suppose we have to build a machine with large coils and rings 100 millimeters in diameter; according to the rules indicated above, the "anti-balloon" ring will be 50 m / m in diameter and the wire coming out of the drawing cylinder will first pass through the pigtail wire guide, then into the 'anti-balloon' ring and finally in the slider to wind up on the spindle. The "balloon" which is formed thus has the same dimensions as it would have if one worked with a ring of 50 m / m, Given the centrifugal and almost radial direction of the wire and these members being extremely close together, there is no appreciable "ball" for the strand * which. - goes from the "anti-balloon" ring to the cursor and there is therefore no reason for thread breaks.
In other words, the application of the device established according to the invention to a machine provided with rings of 100 m / m in diameter, makes it possible to obtain
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
hold a "ball", that is to say an exit speed, identical to that which one would have on a machine provided with rings of 50 m / m.
It is obvious that by applying this "anti-balloon" device to a machine provided with 50 m / m rings, the anti-balloon will have a diameter of about 25 m / m and that the loom will therefore work in the same conditions as with a 25 m / m ring without a balloon collector II ..
What has been said for spinning looms is also valid for twisting looms, since the device can be applied indiscriminately to some as well as to others.
CLAIMS.
1. / Yarn guide device applicable to loop and ring looms with fixed spindle holders for spinning and twisting, characterized by a pigtail yarn guide rigidly fixed above the spindles and by a second guide- lower wire identical to the first but of smaller diameter than the ring, that is to say generally of a diameter equal to half of said ring. the lower thread guide being rigidly mounted on the ring-holder bench, an arrangement making it possible to maintain for the ring a large diameter corresponding to a large diameter of the finished spool, while considerably reducing the width of the balloon closed by the thread, which allows high winding speeds.
