Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Tonerde. Im Schweizer Hauptpatent Nr. 149399 wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Ton erde aus Erdalkalialuminat beschrieben, ge- rnäss welchem man Erdalkalialurninat mit Hilfe geeigneter wässeriger Flüssigkeiten zur Lö sung bringt und aus dieser Lösung darauf in geeigneter Weise reine Tonerde ausfällt. Insbesondere wurde gefunden, dass die Lös lichkeit der Erdalkalialrrminate beträchtlich erhöht werden kann durch die Verwendung einer Aluminiumsalzlösung als Lösungsmittel.
Bei Verwendung derartiger Aluminiumsalz lösungen geht die Tonerde als basisches Alu miniumsalz und das Erdalkali als Erdalkali- salz in Lösung, zum Beispiel nach der Glei chung: Ca0 .<B>A1203</B> + 2A1(N03)3 + 4 H20 = Ca(N03)2 + 4A1(OH)2NOs.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass sich letzt erwähnte Ausführungsform des im Haupt patent beschriebenen Verfahrens wesentlich vereinfachen lässt, wenn man das Aluminat mit einer wasserhaltiger, Salpetersäure be handelt, derart, dass sich in einer ersten Phase des Prozesses aus Säure und Erdalkalialuminat Aluminiumsalze bilden, welche zur Lösung weiterer Aluminatmengen dienen.
Die erste Phase des Prozesses spielt sich beispielsweise nach der Formel ab Ca0 A1203 + 8 HN03 = Ca(N03)2 --@ 2 Al(N03)3 + 4 H20.
Das auf diese Weise gebildete Aluminium salz wirkt dann nach dem Verfahren des Hauptpatentes weiter auf das Erdalkalialu- minat ein, unter Bildung von basischem Alu miniumsalz und Erdalkalisalz. Der gesamte Prozess lässt sich beispielsweise nach der fol genden Summenformel darstellen Ca0 A1203 + 4 HN03 = Ca(N03)2 + 2 Al(OH)2 N03.
Process for the production of alumina. In the main Swiss patent no. 149399 a process for the production of clay from alkaline earth aluminate is described, according to which alkaline earth aluminate is dissolved with the help of suitable aqueous liquids and pure clay is precipitated from this solution in a suitable manner. In particular, it has been found that the solubility of the alkaline earth metal derivatives can be increased considerably by using an aluminum salt solution as a solvent.
When using such aluminum salt solutions, the alumina goes into solution as the basic aluminum salt and the alkaline earth as the alkaline earth salt, for example according to the equation: Ca0. A1203 + 2A1 (N03) 3 + 4 H20 = Ca (N03) 2 + 4A1 (OH) 2NOs.
It has now been found that the last-mentioned embodiment of the process described in the main patent can be significantly simplified if the aluminate is treated with a hydrous nitric acid in such a way that aluminum salts are formed in a first phase of the process from acid and alkaline earth aluminate serve to dissolve further amounts of aluminate.
The first phase of the process takes place, for example, according to the formula from Ca0 A1203 + 8 HN03 = Ca (N03) 2 - @ 2 Al (N03) 3 + 4 H20.
The aluminum salt formed in this way then acts according to the process of the main patent on the alkaline earth aluminate, with the formation of basic aluminum and alkaline earth salt. The entire process can be represented, for example, using the following formula: Ca0 A1203 + 4 HN03 = Ca (N03) 2 + 2 Al (OH) 2 N03.
