Device for supplying an engine with liquid fuel. The object of the present invention is a device for supplying an engine with liquid fuel. This device is characterized by a double-walled chamber receiving the liquid fuel intended for the engine and the space between the two walls of which is connected, by an outgoing duct and by a return duct, with a chamber surrounding the engine exhaust pipe, said space, as well as the chamber surrounding the exhaust pipe being filled with a liquid which, when the engine is running, heats the double-walled chamber,
the latter being connected to the supply side of the engine by a liquid fuel nozzle, for starting, and by a conduit through which gasified fuel and air pass, for normal operation.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the device forming the subject of the present invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 relate to. the first embodiment. Fig. 1 is a general view in elevation; fig. 2 is a partial axial section thereof.
Figs. 3 and 4 show an elevation, respectively an axial section, of a part of the second embodiment.
The first embodiment comprises a: chamber 1, the double wall 2 of which limits a closed annular space 3, connected, by an inlet duct 4 and by a return duct 5, to an annular chamber 6 which surrounds the engine exhaust pipe 7. This chamber 6 is filled with a liquid, for example oil, which, when the engine is running, is heated by the hot gases passing through the exhaust pipe and, in turn, heats up chamber 1. This chamber it is connected, by a conduit 8 controlled by a valve 9 controlled by a float 10, with the liquid fuel tank, the level of this fuel being kept constant in the chamber by the float.
This chamber 1 also communicates with a supply duct 11 of the engine via a nozzle 12, the lower part of which is immersed in the liquid fuel contained in the chamber and of which the upper end opens into a duct. 13, on the one hand connected to the supply duct 11 and, on the other hand, opening into the atmosphere at 14. 15 is a duct opening into the atmosphere at 16, passing through the chamber 1 by an elbow 17 opening into the conduit 13 in 18 and connected, with the interior of the chamber 1, by an orifice 19, which is placed under the control of a valve 20 which can be controlled by hand, by means of a transmission device of movement 21.
The nozzle 12 can be blocked by a cover 12a controlled by a movement transmission device 21a. To start the engine, it is necessary to open the nozzle, which supplies the engine with liquid fuel; the combustion air is supplied by line 13. When the engine has been running for a certain time, the liquid fuel contained in chamber 1 heats up, thanks to the high temperature, of the oil in chamber 6, and carbonates.
From this moment, we close the nozzle 12 and we open the valve 20; the engine will then be supplied with gasified fuel mixed with hot air which has passed through conduit 15; the duct 13 can also supply a small quantity of additional cold air.
22 is a lattice crossing the chamber 1 above the level of the liquid fuel and 23 is a movement transmission device for controlling different registers 24. 25 is a conduit leading to a tank in which can be operated. accumulate the gasified fuel if too much of it is produced in chamber 1. In the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4, line 15 is deleted; it is replaced by a pipe 26 which leaves from the top of the chamber 1 to end in a tank, not shown, itself connected by a pipe 27, to the pipe 13.
The chamber 1 above the mesh 22 comprises annular baffles. 28 fixed to the inner wall of the chamber and circular baffles 29 fixed in the middle of this chamber on a rod 30. In its other parts :, this device is similar to that of Figs. 1 and 2.
The start-up is carried out as in the previous embodiment by means of the nozzle 12; then the latter is closed and the supply is only provided by the gasified fuel accumulated in the us-mentioned tank which it does not arrive until after it has been completely dried. due to its extended stay in bedroom 1, thanks to baffles 28 and 29.
