Grinding machine. The present invention is a grinding machine, in which the mechanism for changing the direction of travel of the doll carrier, as well as that of the advance of the grinding wheel, is effected by pneumatic controls.
The appended drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevation view thereof: FIG. 2 is a plan view of it, sup posing the doll-carrying table removed, as well as the grinding wheel plate; Fig. 3 is a section along the line A-B-C of FIG. 2: Figs. 4 and 7 are detailed views: FIG. 5 is an enlarged sectional view taken along line D-E of FIG. 4: FIG. 6 is an enlarged sectional view along the line F-G of FIG, 4.
This grinding machine has a headstock table 1, capable of sliding on a frame 2, to which is fixed, on the one hand, the headstock 3, with its drive pulley 4, whose axis carries the drawers 5 and its tip 6, and, on the other hand, the tailstock 7, provided with its tip 8.
Perpendicular to the direction of movement of the headstock table 1, can also smooth over the bali 2, a headstock 9, whose axis, driven by a pulley 10, actuates the grinding wheel 11.
The movement of the doll-carrying table 1 on the frame 2 is obtained by means of a rack 12 (fig. 3), fixed to the doll-carrying table 1 and meshing with a pin 13, integral with a toothed wheel 14. which, itself engages with a pinion 15. fixed to a wheel 16 in gear relation with a pinion 17 provided at the end of a shaft (#reux 1i ', capable of being lifted by hand by a steering wheel 18.
The displacement of the doll 9 on the frame 2 is obtained by means of (the one rack, not shown in the drawing, fixed to the doll 9, and which meshes with a pinion 19, provided at the end of a shaft 20, provided with a tangential wheel 21 in gearing relation with a helical pinion 22, the axis of which can be driven by hand by a flywheel 23.
The frame 2 supports an axis 24 (fig. 2 and 4) driven by a stepped pulley 25. On this axis 24 can freely pivot two conical pins 26 and 26 'in relation to grading with a crown 27, of which the axis 28 (fig. 2), pivoting in the frame 2, carries a pinion 29, capable of being put into gear relation with a pinion 30 provided at the end of an axis driven by the hollow pin 17 'to which the pinion 17 is fixed, but capable of moving longitudinally in said hollow axis 17' when the button 31 with which the carrier pin of the pinion 30 is suitably actuated.
The bevel gears 26 and 26 'can be successively driven by the axis 24, by means of a drive member 32, acting by friction against the faces of the pinions, this member being, on the one hand, driven by the axis 24 of a rotational movement and, on the other hand, capable of moving longitudinally on this axis.
The shaft 24 is provided at the end of the shaft with a crank pin 33, actuating an air compressor consisting of a cylindrical excavation 31 provided in the frame 1, in which acts, a piston 35, connected by a connecting rod 36, with the crank 33. The lower part of the piston 35 is perforated at 37, thus allowing the admission of air. The orifice of these perforations 37 can be closed during compression. by means of a valve, constituted by a plastic disc 38 fixed to the lower part of the piston 35. In order to allow the admission of the air which is admitted into the compressor, when the piston 35 rises in the cylinder, the plastic disc 36 is lowered, freeing the orifice from the perforations 37.
The compressed air is stored in a switch 39 with which the compressor communicates via an opening 40 capable of being closed by an automatic valve 41, returned by a spring 42. The air stored in the accumulator 39 is then distributed according to the needs of the machine, by means of a distributor comprising a key 43 (fig. 3) capable of moving longi tudinally in a bushel 44. This wood bucket 44 communicates, on the one hand, by means of openings 45, with the accumulator 39. and, on the other hand, with pipes 46 distributing the compressed air to the various control organs, either the change of direction of travel of the headstock table 1, or advance of the grinding wheel plate.
The key 43 is actuated by a lever 47 fixed to a shaft 48 pivoting in the frame 2 and which is provided with a lever 49, capable of being actuated by hand, or automatically, by means of adjustable stops 50 fixed on the side of the doll carriage 1.
The compressed air distributed by the distributor can be directed, on the one hand, either into the front part 50 'or into the rear part 51 of a pneumatic receiver consisting of a cylinder in which can be softened or even a piston 52, whose rod 53 provided with a fork 54 controls the movement of the driving member 32 The compressed air can be directed, on the other hand, into a second pneumatic receiver constituted by a cylinder 55 in which can move a piston 56, the end of the rod 57 of which acts on a lever 58 pivoting around the carrier axis of the helical pinion 22.
This lever 58 is provided with a pawl, 59 which, each time the piston 56 is actuated by compressed air. acts on the teeth of a ratchet 60 integral with the supporting axis of the helical pinion 22. which has the effect of causing the headstock 9 to advance for the grinding wheel 11. The degree of advancement of said headstock is adjusted according to the need. by means of an adjustable stop 61 limiting the stroke of the piston 56, and, consequently, the advancement of the ratchet 60 embraced by the vliqtiei.
