Definitions

  • the endless ring whose plate thickness is 0.18 mm, whose width is 12.5 mm, and whose circumferential length is 700 mm was fabricated by applying the plasma welding, the solution treatment, and the rolling process to the 18 % Ni-based maraging steel having the plate thickness of 0.3 mm, in compliance with the procedures shown in FIG.2. More particularly, the solution treatment was applied to the maraging steel at 800 °C to 900 °C, then the aging was carried out under the heating profile (480 °C is held for 1 hour to 3 hours) shown in FIG.3A, and then the nitriding was carried out under the heating profile (450 °C is held for 15 minutes to 120 minutes) shown in FIG.3B. In this case, the solution treatment and the aging were carried out in vacuum (about 1.33 ⁇ 10 -1 Pa ⁇ 10 -3 Torr) so as to prevent the oxidation of the surface of the maraging steel.
