Description

La présente invention concerne une nouvelle composition d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés présentant des propriétés magnétiques, mécaniques et thermiques améliorées.
Ce type d'acier est notamment utilisé pour la fabrication de pièces pour l'électrotechnique, dont le rôle est de coupler différents circuits électriques pour permettre le transfert d'énergie électromagnétique des uns aux autres.
Ce transfert d'énergie suppose notamment que la densité de flux magnétique (encore appelée induction) obtenue lorsque l'on soumet le matériau à un champ, soit la plus élevée possible.
Une autre des propriétés caractéristiques de ces aciers est leur niveau de pertes magnétiques totales qui résultent des pertes par hystérésis d'une part et des pertes par courant de Foucault, d'autre part. Ces pertes doivent être les plus faibles possibles.
A cet effet, on connaít deux grandes familles d'acier magnétiques à grains non orientés. La première est constituée d'aciers fortement alliés dont le niveau de pertes magnétiques dépend essentiellement de la composition chimique. Ces aciers contiennent de 1,4 à 3,3% en poids de silicium ainsi que de l'aluminium à hauteur de 0,1 à 1,0% en poids. Elles présentent l'inconvénient d'avoir une faible conductivité thermique et une dureté trop grande qui entraíne une usure excessive des outils de découpe des pièces. Leur forte teneur en alliage les rend en outre coûteuses.
La deuxième famille d'aciers magnétiques à grains non orientés est constituée d'aciers faiblement alliés qui contiennent en général uniquement du silicium à des teneurs de l'ordre de 0,5% en poids. Ces aciers sont dits à perméabilité magnétique améliorée, et permettent d'atteindre des niveaux d'induction élevés pour des champs appliqués de l'ordre de 5000 A/m tout en conservant des niveaux de perte moyens. Ils présentent aussi une bonne conductivité thermique, mais ont de mauvaises propriétés mécaniques, avec en particulier une limite d'élasticité et une dureté faibles. C'est pourquoi, dans la pratique, on ne peut utiliser cette famille d'aciers que pour des machines statiques ou dynamiques à faibles vitesses. Par ailleurs, la fabrication de pièces dans ces nuances pose elle-aussi problème, car on observe de fréquentes déformations lors de leur découpe, ce qui entraíne des pertes de matière et de productivité.
Il n'existe donc à l'heure actuelle aucun matériau métallique magnétique présentant simultanément une bonne conductivité thermique, de bonnes propriétés mécaniques et de faibles pertes magnétiques.
La présente invention a donc pour but de mettre à disposition un tel matériau dont la gamme d'applications pourra être plus étendue que celle des matériaux de l'art antérieur, et qui permettra notamment d'augmenter la puissance massique sans risque d'un échauffement important des isolants électriques présents.
A cet effet, un premier objet de l'invention est constitué par un acier magnétique dont la composition comprend, exprimés en % en poids:

le reste de la composition étant constitué de fer et d'impuretés résultant de l'élaboration.
Les présents inventeurs ont en effet découvert que la combinaison des teneurs en aluminium, étain et phosphore revendiquées améliorait de façon surprenante et notable les propriétés magnétiques, mécaniques et de conductivité thermique de la nuance d'acier.
La teneur en étain de la composition selon l'invention doit être comprise entre 0,09 et 0,12% en poids. En effet, si elle est inférieure à cette fourchette, on n'observe pas suffisamment de réduction des pertes magnétiques. Par contre, si la teneur en étain dépasse 0,12% en poids, l'acier a une ductilité trop faible.
La teneur en carbone de la composition selon l'invention doit être inférieure à 0,005% en poids car tout dépassement de cette valeur entraíne une tendance au vieillissement magnétique inacceptable car limitant gravement la durée d'emploi des pièces.
La teneur en silicium de la composition selon l'invention doit être comprise entre 1,2 et 1,4% en poids. Plus on augmente la teneur en silicium, plus la conductivité thermique de l'acier diminue, mais, dans le même temps plus les pertes magnétiques diminuent, d'où le choix de la fourchette revendiquée.
La teneur en aluminium de la composition selon l'invention doit être comprise entre 0,18 et 0,22%. en poids. L'aluminium améliore les propriétés magnétiques de l'acier mais ne doit pas être présent trop grande quantité car il est néfaste pour ductilité de l'acier et il diminue sa conductivité thermique. On limite également sa teneur pour éviter la précipitation de nitrures d'aluminium trop fins qui bloqueraient les mouvements des domaines magnétiques.
La teneur en azote de la composition doit être inférieure à 0,01 % en poids pour limiter là-aussi la précipitation de nitrures d'aluminium.
La teneur en manganèse de la composition selon l'invention doit être comprise entre 0,25 et 0,35% en poids. Le manganèse améliore les propriétés mécanique de l'acier en empêchant sa rupture pendant le laminage à chaud. En dessous de 0,25% en poids, il n'améliore pas suffisamment ces propriétés mécaniques, tandis que au-delà de 0,35% en poids, il détériore les propriétés magnétiques de la nuance et il diminue la conductivité thermique de l'acier.
Le phosphore est présent dans l'acier selon l'invention en une teneur de 0,10 à 0,14% en poids. Il permet le durcissement de l'acier tout en augmentant sensiblement sa limite d'élasticité. Sa teneur est limitée à 0,14% en poids car il diminue la conductivité thermique de l'acier. Il augmente la résistivité de l'alliage ce qui permet de réduire les pertes dues aux courants de Foucault. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, sa teneur est comprise entre 0,11 et 0,13% en poids.
La teneur en soufre est inférieure à 0,015% en poids, car cet élément est néfaste pour les caractéristiques de l'acier, mais elle est aussi supérieure à 0,005% en poids, car une teneur inférieure nécessiterait une étape supplémentaire de désulfuration qui n'est pas justifiée dans le cadre de la présente invention.
La composition selon l'invention peut être élaborée de façon classique et par tout procédé adapté comportant une étape de décarburation, le niveau de carbone à atteindre étant très bas.
A l'issue de l'élaboration, l'acier peut être coulé sous forme d'une brame que l'on réchauffe à une température supérieure à environ 1150°C pour la laminer à chaud jusqu'à atteindre une épaisseur de l'ordre de 2 mm, par exemple. On peut ensuite procéder au bobinage de la tôle ainsi produite puis à son recuit.
La tôle laminée à chaud est ensuite décapée et laminée à froid, de préférence jusqu'à l'épaisseur finale désirée, pour subir un dernier traitement thermique qui est, de préférence, un recuit en atmosphère non oxydante. Si la teneur en carbone de la tôle est encore trop élevée à ce stade, on procède à une décarburation pendant le recuit.
Les présents inventeurs ont cependant découvert qu'en appliquant des conditions particulières pendant l'opération de laminage à chaud et de bobinage, il était possible d'améliorer considérablement l'induction de la tôle obtenue tout en supprimant une étape du processus classique.
Un deuxième objet de l'invention consiste donc en un procédé de fabrication d'une tôle de composition conforme à l'invention, comprenant:
  • l'élaboration de l'acier et la coulée d'une brame,
  • un laminage à chaud de cette brame pour obtenir une tôle, ledit laminage se terminant à une température comprise entre celle du point Ar3 diminuée de 80°C et celle du point Ar3,
  • un bobinage de la tôle à une température supérieure à 680°C,
  • un laminage à froid puis un traitement thermique de la tôle.
Ce procédé présente l'avantage important d'optimiser les propriétés magnétiques de la tôle, car les présents inventeurs ont constaté que son niveau d'induction s'en trouvait très nettement augmenté, tandis que les pertes magnétiques par hystérésis sont diminuées.
En effet, la température de fin de laminage est telle que celui-ci se termine dans le domaine ferritique. Cette caractéristique combinée au contrôle d'une température de bobinage relativement élevée permet la recristallisation et le grossissement des grains de la tôle à chaud par un phénomène d'auto-recuit.
L'amélioration sensible de l'induction est probablement due à la formation de composantes de texture de Goss, comme on peut en trouver dans les aciers à grains orientés, mais aussi de texture planaire. La composante défavorable {111} est également diminuée lors du processus grâce à la présence de l'étain qui, en ségréguant aux joints de grains, empêche la germination et la croissance de grains de texture {111} pendant la recristallisation, favorisant ainsi la croissance des grains au recuit final après laminage à froid.
En outre, l'auto-recuit qui a lieu au cours de ce procédé permet de supprimer l'étape classique de recuit de la tôle bobinée désormais sans objet.
Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, la température de bobinage est supérieure à 700°C, en particulier supérieure à 720°C, ce qui permet d'améliorer encore les performances magnétiques des matériaux.
Les présents inventeurs ont également constaté qu'il était possible de diminuer davantage les pertes magnétiques en optimisant les conditions du traitement thermique qui suit le laminage à froid.
Dans un autre mode de réalisation préféré, on réalise ainsi un traitement thermique prenant la forme d'un recuit effectué à une température supérieure à 900°C, et dans un autre mode de réalisation préféré, on le réalise en continu dans un four dans lequel la tôle a un temps de séjour inférieur ou égal à 50 s.
Un troisième objet de l'invention est constitué par les tôles d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés de composition conforme à la présente invention et par les tôles obtenues par la mise en oeuvre du procédé selon l'invention dans ses différentes variantes.
On préfère les tôles présentant, pour une épaisseur de 0,50 mm, des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 4 W/kg, en particulier inférieures à 3,5 W/kg et de façon plus particulièrement préférée inférieures à 3,3 W/kg, ainsi qu'une induction supérieure à 1,72 T lorsqu'on applique un champ de 5000 A/m.
On préfère également les tôles présentant, pour une épaisseur de 0,65 mm, des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 5,30 W/kg, en particulier inférieures à 4,70 W/kg et une induction supérieure à 1,72 T lorsqu'on applique un champ de 5000 A/m.
Les tôles obtenues par le procédé selon l'invention présentent notamment l'avantage de ne pas devoir être soumises à un traitement thermique supplémentaire, après découpe des pièces, pour permettre aux propriétés magnétiques de s'exprimer totalement. Un tel traitement serait en effet non seulement coûteux mais aussi néfaste pour le comportement mécanique ultérieur des pièces. Les tôles obtenues selon l'invention sont donc directement prêtes à l'emploi et on pourra en outre les couvrir d'un revêtement isolant sur chaque face si l'application le nécessite.
Ces tôles pourront notamment servir à fabriquer des pièces de machines tournantes, de moteurs, de transformateurs, mais pourront aussi être utilisées dans le domaine de l'électroménager et du génie électrique en général.
La présente invention va à présent être illustrée à partir des observations et des exemples qui suivent, le tableau ci-dessous donnant la composition chimique des différents aciers testés, parmi lesquels, les coulées 2 et 4 sont conformes à la présente invention tandis que les coulées 1 et 3 sont utilisées à titre de comparaison.

Sauf indication contraire, les tôles soumises aux différents essais ont une épaisseur de 0,50 mm afin de pouvoir comparer les résultats obtenus, car les pertes magnétiques sont fonction de cette épaisseur.
Abréviations employées
W1,5T perte magnétique totale à 1,5 Tesla et 50Hz, exprimée en W/kg,
B5000 densité de flux magnétique (ou induction) sous un champ de 5000 A/m, exprimée en Tesla,
Hv5 dureté.
Exemple 1 - Influence de la composition chimique
On fabrique deux tôles à partir de la coulée 1 et de la coulée 2 conforme à l'invention, en laminant à chaud les brames correspondantes sans suivre le procédé selon l'invention. Le bobinage est effectué à une température de 645°C environ. Les tôles sont ensuite décapées puis laminées à froid. Le recuit final est effectué en continu à 950°C, dans un four dans lequel les tôles séjournent pendant 25 s.
On mesure alors les pertes magnétiques totales W1,5T et l'induction B5000 et l'on obtient les résultats suivants :

On voit que les pertes magnétiques ont été sensiblement réduites et que l'induction a été améliorée par rapport à la composition de l'art antérieur. Ces améliorations proviennent de l'équilibre revendiqué entre les teneurs en aluminium, phosphore et étain.
Exemple 2 - Influence du procédé de laminage à chaud / bobinage
On fabrique deux tôles dans la même coulée 2 conforme à l'invention, d'une manière analogue à celle utilisée dans l'exemple 1, mais en réalisant le bobinage à une température de 640 ° C pour une des tôles et à une température de 730°C pour l'autre.
On mesure alors les pertes magnétiques totales W1,5T et l'induction B5000 et l'on obtient les résultats suivants :

On voit que les pertes magnétiques ont été réduites mais surtout que l'induction a été sensiblement augmentée grâce au procédé de transformation thermomécanique selon l'invention. A titre de comparaison, les aciers fortement alliés de l'art antérieur ayant des pertes de 3,7 W/kg, présentent une induction de l'ordre de 1,66 T.
Exemple 3 - Influence de l'ajout d'étain
On fabrique deux tôles dans la coulée 2 conforme à l'invention et dans la coulée 3 d'une manière analogue à celle utilisée dans l'exemple 1, mais en réalisant le bobinage à une température de 720°C.
On mesure alors les pertes magnétiques totales W1,5T et l'induction B5000 et l'on obtient les résultats suivants :

On constate que l'addition d'étain joue bien un rôle important dans les mécanismes mis en jeu lors des différentes transformations thermomécaniques que l'on fait subir à l'acier.
Exemple 4 - Influence des conditions de recuit final
On fabrique une série de brames dans la coulée 4 conforme à l'invention que l'on lamine à chaud en utilisant le procédé selon l'invention. On lamine ensuite les tôles à froid jusqu'à obtenir une épaisseur de 0,50 mm puis on recuit ces tôles en continu dans un four en faisant varier la température de recuit et le temps de séjour des tôles dans ce four. Les résultats sont rassemblés dans le tableau suivant :

On procède de la même façon avec des tôles qu'on lamine jusqu'à une épaisseur de 0,65 mm et on obtient les résultats suivants :

On peut voir qu'une diminution supplémentaire du niveau des pertes magnétiques peut être obtenue en augmentant le temps de séjour et la température de recuit.
Exemple 5 - Propriétés mécaniques et conductivité thermique
On soumet des tôles de coulées selon l'invention à un certain nombre de mesures de conductivité et on constate qu'on obtient des valeurs supérieures ou égales à 35 W/m.K. A titre de comparaison, un acier fortement allié de l'art antérieur comprenant 2,9% de silicium présente une conductivité de 20 W/m.K.
En ce qui concerne les propriétés mécaniques, on mesure la limite d'élasticité et la dureté de ces coulées qui sont respectivement de plus de 300 MPa et de 145 Hv5. Ces valeurs sont satisfaisantes car elle assurent un bon comportement de la tôle à la découpe avec une usure réduite des outils par rapport aux nuances fortement alliées de l'art antérieur.
A titre de comparaison, une nuance fortement alliée de l'art antérieur comprenant 1,4% de silicium présente une limite d'élasticité de 250 MPa et une dureté de 140 Hv5.

Claims (15)

  1. Acier magnétique dont la composition comprend, exprimés en % en poids: C ≤ 0,005 1,20≤ Si ≤1,40 0,18 ≤ Al ≤ 0,22 0,25≤ Mn ≤ 0,35 0,10 ≤ P ≤ 0,14 0,09 ≤ Sn ≤ 0,12 0,005≤ S ≤ 0,015 N ≤ 0, 01 O ≤ 0,01
    le reste de la composition étant constitué de fer et d'impuretés résultant de l'élaboration.
  2. Procédé de fabrication d'une tôle de composition conforme à la revendication 1, comprenant :
    l'élaboration de l'acier et la coulée d'une brame,
    un laminage à chaud de cette brame pour obtenir une tôle, ledit laminage se terminant à une température comprise entre celle du point Ar3 diminuée de 80°C et celle du point Ar3,
    un bobinage de la tôle à une température supérieure à 680 °C,
    un laminage à froid puis un traitement thermique de la tôle.
  3. Procédé selon la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que, en outre, la température de bobinage est supérieure à 700°C.
  4. Procédé selon la revendication 2 ou 3, caractérisé en ce que ledit traitement thermique est un recuit que l'on effectue à une température supérieure à 900°C.
  5. Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé en ce que ledit recuit est effectué en continu dans un four dans lequel la tôle a un temps de séjour inférieur ou égal à 50 s.
  6. Procédé selon la revendication 4 ou 5, caractérisé en ce que ledit laminage à froid est réalisé jusqu'à atteindre l'épaisseur définitive de la tôle et en ce que ledit recuit est un recuit final.
  7. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés de composition conforme à la revendication 1.
  8. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés obtenue par la mise en oeuvre du procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications 2 à 6.
  9. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon la revendication 7 ou 8, caractérisée en ce qu'elle présente, pour une épaisseur de 0,50 mm, des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 4 W/kg et une induction supérieure à 1,72 T lorsqu'on applique un champ de 5000 A/m.
  10. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon la revendication 9, caractérisée en ce qu'elle présente en outre des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 3,5 W/kg.
  11. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon la revendication 10, caractérisée en ce qu'elle présente en outre des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 3,3 W/kg.
  12. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon la revendication 7 ou 8, caractérisée en ce qu'elle présente, pour une épaisseur de 0,65 mm, des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 5,30 W/kg et une induction supérieure à 1,72 T lorsqu'on applique un champ de 5000 A/m.
  13. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon la revendication 12, caractérisée en ce qu'elle présente en outre des pertes magnétiques totales inférieures à 4,70 W/kg.
  14. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon l'une quelconque des revendications 7 à 13, caractérisée en ce qu'elle présente une conductivité thermique supérieure ou égale à 35 W/m.K et une limite d'élasticité supérieure ou égale à 300 MPa.
  15. Tôle d'acier magnétique à grains non orientés selon l'une quelconque des revendications 7. à 14, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend en outre une couche de revêtement isolant sur chacune de ses faces.
