Un complejo que comprende un dihaluro de magnesio y un donador de electrones, caracterizado porque es un complejo de dihaluro de magnesio y el donador de electrones y posee la fórmula siguiente (I) que expresa la proporción molar entre el dihaluro de magnesio y el donador de electrones: MgX2 u [R(OR¿)n]m (I) en el que MgX2 es el dihaluro de magnesio y R(OR¿)n es el donador de electrones, X es un halógeno, R es un grupo alifático C1-C20 de valencia n, un grupo aralifático C7-C27 de valencia n o un grupo acílico C2-C22 de valencia n, R¿ es un grupo alquilo C1-C20 o un grupo aralquilo C2-C27 n es un número de 1 a 6 y m se define como un número 0, 5 < m < 2, 0.
