PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LA OBTENCION DE 1,4,3,6-DIANHIDRO-2,5-DIDEOXIHESITOLES DE FORMULA (I). CONSISTE EN LA REACCION DE UN DERIVADO DE HEXITOL DE FORMULA (II), EN LA QUE R ES UN RADICAL MESILO O TOSILO, CON UNA AZIDA DE METAL ALCALINO O UNA AZIDA DE AMONIO, EN UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO ACUOSO O ANHIDRO, A LA TEMPERATURA DE 120 C. O A LA DEL PUNTO DE EBULLICION DEL DISOLVENTE. TAMBIEN SE PUEDE MESILAR O TOSILAR UN COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (III) Y TRATAR EL ESTER OBTENIDO CON UNA BASE. ESTOS COMPUESTOS TIENEN APLIACIONES TERAPEUTICAS POR SU EFECTO HIPNOTICO.
