Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔発明の利用分野〕 本発明はプリンタ等の印刷用紙の供給装置に関するもの
である。
〔発明の背景〕
電子写真装置等を利用したプリンタ等においては、年々
高速化がすすみ又、人の介入をへらすため、用紙供給装
置や、用紙排出装置の大容量化が図られている。しかし
、大容量化のため第２図に示す様に用紙供給装置では、
用紙置箱１の高さが高くなり、用紙２の初期挿てん時に
は用紙２を乗せる用紙置台３が、非常に深いところに位
置することになる。一方、印刷に使用されるカットシー
トは、１セツトが５００枚やｌ、０００枚のものが多く
、前述の様に底が深いため、挿てんがやりづらく、第３
図に示す様にセット間の用紙ずれや用紙の丸まり９が発
生し易く用紙供給時、用紙ジャムの発生原因となる事が
多かった。これを防止するため、用紙供給箱１の一辺に
切込み７を入れたものもあるが、十分な効果を上げる事
はできなかった。
〔発明の目的〕
本発明の目的は、上記した従来技術の欠点をなくし、用
紙補給時の用紙挿てんを簡便にすることである。
〔発明の概要〕
本発明は、用紙挿てん時の用紙置台３の高さ又は用紙２
の高さが用紙供給箱１のへりに近ければ、用紙挿てんが
容易な点に着目し、用紙補給時には、用紙高さをセンサ
により検出し、用紙の高さをある一定の高さに制御する
様、工夫したものである。
〔発明の実施例〕
本発明による一実施例を第１図により説明する用紙置端
１の内側には用紙置台３が設けられてあり、上昇下降装
置４により上昇下降される。用紙置端１は使用時記述し
ない本体に挿てんされているが、用紙供給時はスライド
レール８を介して引き出される。用紙置端１の奥側には
本発明による用紙高さ検出センサ５が設けられている０
本センサは、用紙置端１が用紙補給のため初期位置から
引き出された場合に有効となるものである０次に用紙補
給の場合の用紙置台３の動きについて説明する。用紙置
端１が引き出されると、用紙置台３は、用紙高さ検出セ
ンサ５がＯＦＦするまで下降し、停止する０次に用紙が
１セツト補給されると用紙高さ検出センサがＯＮＬ、あ
る一定時間経過後、再度、ＯＦＦするまで、用紙置台３
を下降し、用紙が−ばいになるまでこの動作を繰返す。
最初に用紙がまだ残っている場合も同様に、最初に用紙
高さ検出センサ５がＯＦＦするまで下降し、以下、前述
の動作を繰返すことになる。
第１図では、用紙高さ検出センサはメカニカルセンサの
場合を示したがこのセンサは光学式センサでも同様の効
果を得ることができる。また、ダイオードアレイなど複
数の光学センサを利用する場合には、用紙の初期停止位
置を任意に選択することができ、使用する用紙の１セツ
トのサイズに合わせることができる。
〔発明の効果〕
本発明によれば、用紙挿てん時の用紙の高さをる一定の
高さに制御することができ、用紙挿てんを容易にするこ
とができるとともに、用紙セント時の用紙ずれや丸まり
を防止でき、用紙ジャムを防止することができる。

紙セット時の用紙のずれの一例を示す模式図である。 図において、１は用紙置端、２は用紙、３は用紙置台、

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 印刷する用紙を大量に積載する用紙供給装置において、
    用紙置箱と、用紙をのせる用紙置台と用紙置台を上下動
    する上昇下降機構と、用紙高さを検出するセンサを備え
    、用紙補給時には、用紙面が用紙置箱の上端部と、一定
    の高さになる様、用紙置台を下降することを特徴とする
    用紙供給装置。
