Abstract

PURPOSE: A liquid coating compound capable of forming a film having good appearance, improved physical properties and resistance to gasoline by curing at normal or low temperatures, consisting a liquid resin containing a resin with a specifics acid value.
CONSTITUTION: A) An organic solvent solution or dispersion of a resin, e.g., acrylic resin, alkyd resin, and an acryl grafted alkyd resin, having an acid value per resin solid content not less than 20 is blended with B) a resin or a compound, e.g., ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether, or phthalic diglycidyl ether, having two or more epoxy groups per molecule on average, in an amount to give an equivalent ratio of the carboxyl groups in A to the epoxy groups in B of 0.5W2, and C) an organic base, e.g., triethylamine or dimethyl ethanolamine, in an amount not more than that necessary for neutralizing the acid group of the resin in A.
