Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a foam having a very small cell diameter and improved surface smoothness, by using a specific blowing nucleating agent in foaming ethylenetetrafluoroethylene copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A foam is obtained by melt molding of (A) ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer having a melt index of 0.5W8 incorporated with (B) a solid blowing agent which decomposes at the melt molding tempreature of the copolymer and (C) a blowing nucleating agent consisting of heat-resistant finely divided particles having an average particle size of 10μ or less. Talc, sericite, or diatomaceous earth is used as the blowing nucleating agent.
