Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove the time required for returning the heat-treating apparatus to the next cycle thereby reducing the cycle time, by, after a rod material having been set, performing heat treatment of each cycle while moving the heat-treating apparatus from one end to the other end. CONSTITUTION:Until a rod material W is set at the heat treatment position by supporting the material W with center shaft 3, 31, a heating and cooling apparatus HC is made to wait at a point R, then moved to the other side at a prescribed speed after the setting of the rod material W. During the moving of the apparatus HC, heating by energizing a heating coil 4 and cooling by spraying 6 cooling fluid are controlled at prescribed degrees and the rod material is heated suitably while the apparatus moves to the other side. The apparatus HC waits at the opposite side for the time from the liberation of the material W having been heat treated until the material W for the next cycle is set, and heats and cools the next rod material W while moving to the original position. This process makes possible the operation of the apparatus at a high efficiency.
