Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A pyran derivative of formula I (R1,4 are 1W6C alkyl; R2 is H, 1W6C alkanoyl, or carbamoyl which may have phenyl or 1W6C alkyl as substitution group; R3 is H or halogen).
EXAMPLE: 6-Ethyl-2-methoxy-5-hydroxy-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran.
USE: Low-toxic microbicide, insecticide and miticide. Especially useful as agricultural and horticultural pesticide.
PROCESS: 1Mol of a compound II is reacted with ≥1mol, pref. 1W3mol of a reducing agent such as sodium borohydrate, lithium aluminum hydride, etc. in dioxane, at -30-room temperature, pref. 0W10°C to obtain a compound I wherein R2 is H, which can be acylated to a compound I wherein R2 is 1W6C alkanoyl.
