Abstract

PURPOSE: To smoothly and exactly synchronize two shafts for a steam turbine by controlling the steam amount fed to the intermediate pressure turbine of a secondary turbine in response to the relationship between the primary and secondary turbines at rotating speed.
CONSTITUTION: A cross-compound steam turbine is started by opening a high pressure control valve 3 to thereby supply steam to the high pressure turbine 1 of a primary turbine and controlling the turbine 1 at the speed responsive to the valve opening. In the conventional turbine, the steam fed out of the turbine 1 is supplied through a reheater 6 to the intermediate pressure turbine 4 of the secondary turbine, and followed thereby to accelerate the speed of the turbine. According to this configuration, in synchronizing the two shafts, the steam is applied through a speed matching valve 11 to the intermediate turbine 4 and a control valve 12 is controlled mewly to by-pass the reheater 6 and the turbine 4 to thereby coincide the rotating speeds of the primary and secondary turbines.
