Abstract

PURPOSE: Title resin composition that is composed of an aromatic epoxy resin, a specific acid anhydride, and a polycarboxylic acid, thus being useful as a impregnating material for insulating electric parts and a sealing material because of giving cured products with high flexibility, impact strength, heat resistance, and heat impact.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100pts.wt. of an aromatic epoxy resin bearing at least 2 epoxy groups are mixed with (B) 30W150pts. of an acid anhydride or its isomer resulting from reaction between maleic anhydride and 8W10C diene or triene and (C) 10W 100pts. of polycarboxylic acids mainly containing 36C dicarboxylic acid and/or 54C tricarboxylic acid. The component A is preferably an epoxy resin with an epoxy equivalent of 160W230 that is obtained from bisphenol-A and epichlorohydrin and the component B is preferably a Diels-Alder adduct from alloocimene and maleic anhydride.
